2 The Pastor s Corner... From the Pastor: Once more, I find myself very grateful for this church and for what God is doing in the life of this church. That happens a lot. I hope the same is true for you. Something that is always running through a pastor s head is what does God have in store for the future of this church? I think a lot of church members think about that, too. It s an important question, and we all must be diligent about working to ensure the church has a bright future. One way we can do this is by getting together to brainstorm about how God is directing us. We are going to have the occasion to do that in just a few weeks. On Saturday, July 7, we will have a one day retreat at the Wingate Hotel in Erlanger. This will be a fun time together, and a chance for us to get to know each other better. But mostly it will be a time of looking at the future of our church and how we can let God use us to minister to our community in the 21 st century. We will look at things like, What the church means to me, and What are the priorities of the church, and What are new trends in our culture and How can we reach out to our neighborhood and our world. They are important questions and we need to think about this and pray about this together. PLEASE set aside this day to give to God and your church. Breakfast will be served by the hotel (and it s a good one, too!). Then at 9 a.m. we will begin our time together talking about what our church has meant to us and how we would like to welcome others into our faith community. Lunch will be provided by the church and we ll wrap up our time together between 2:30 and 3 p.m If you are an officer, a member of the Administrative Board or the Council on Ministries, YOU REALLY NEED TO BE THERE! Anyone in a leadership role is needed on this day. But anyone is welcome and encouraged to come. Please call the church office ( ) and let us know you are planning to come so we will know how to plan for food and such. Or you can me (pastormark@elrangerumc.org) and let me know you will come, and we ll get you signed up. Keep this time in your prayers, and we ll look forward to seeing you there! Pastor Mark

7 ! PRAYER CORNER Prayer should be the most natural thing in the world, like speaking your mind with a friend you trust. Prayer is...talking with God and telling him you love Him...conversing with God about all the things that are important in life, both large and small, and being assured that He is listening. First and foremost, prayer is talking to your Father in heaven and getting to know Him. It's the process of developing a relationship. How do you develop and grow in your relationship with God? The same you do with anyone else. You spend time together. "Time is like oxygen; there's a minimum amount that's necessary for survival. And it takes quantity, as well as quality, to develop warm and caring relationships. Prayer Concerns... Lou Shelton Eleanor Wettig Oda Wilson Our Pastor as he leads us Our church staff Our church officers & teachers The effective prayer of the righteous accomplishes much. If we can change our attitudes toward prayer---thinking of it as a process that builds our relationship with God---and cultivate a daily prayer time, we can become strong people of prayer. And the prayer life we develop has the potential to completely transform our lives. -- Pat Barbour Jeremiah 29:11-13! If you are unable to attend and would like communion brought to your home, please contact the church office
