Would he devote that sacred head for sinners such as I? ONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS P Because we are sinners no more and no less than Judas, because like Peter we have denied the Lord in many ways and on many occasions, and because Jesus meets us here tonight with His grace, we come together to confess our sins and, through our worship, to respond like Peter: Yes, Lord, You know that we love You. Let us confess our sins. Silence for reflection and self-examination. P Most merciful God, we confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus hrist, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen. P In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus hrist was given to die for us, and for his sake God forgives us all our sins. L For this holy house, and for all who offer here their worship and praise, let us pray to the Lord. ANTHEM The up In anguish deep the Savior prayed from dark Gethsemane. In agony He pleaded there, Please take this cup from me. What was it in the bitter cup that Jesus saw ahead? Was pain and suff ring all He saw, or was there more to dread? Yet not my will, but Yours, He said with firm, but weary voice. And with His vast, amazing love accepted mercy s choice. P Let us pray together. Holy God, source of all love, on the night of his betrayal, Jesus gave us a new commandment, to love one another as he loves us. Write this commandment in our hearts, and give us the will to serve others as he was the servant of all, your Son, Jesus hrist, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. 5 OFFERING Room At the Table There is room at the table, a place at the feast. There is room for each burden you long to release. Ev ry heartache you carry, each private despair; bring them all to the table, surrender them there. There is room for the bread that is broken in two. It is offered for all that is broken in you. Simply take it and eat it, and hunger no more. You must only accept it; be fully restored. - David Lantz There is room for the cup that is filled with the wine. It is offered to you at this table of mine. ome be filled with remembrance of My sacrifice. All your emptiness ended, your thirst satisfied. There is room, there is room. There is room at the table, so come take your place. Taste the bread of forgiveness, the cup of My grace. Not a meal for the body; a feast for the soul. LENTEN VERSE SERVIE OF HOLY OMMUNION Adults who know Jesus as their Savior and Lord and who understand that He is present in ommunion are invited to partake. hildren in the 4 th grade and older who have completed the ommunion class are also welcome. All other children will receive a blessing. ommunion is by intinction: communicants receive a wafer (the bread) which they then dip in the cup (the wine). Those who choose not to partake of wine may simply hold the wafer over the cup.
