Megan Sinnott is the Catholic education accounts manager for NWEA. 101 Discovering and Understanding Dyslexia In My Classroom Time: 9:00-9:45 Presenter: Betsy Chumich Teachers will learn about dyslexia and ideas to incorporate in the classroom. Betsy Chumich has been teaching in St. Mary's, Boise since She incorporates Sensory Integration in her classroom to meet the needs of all students. 102 Reading Interventions Time: 9:00-9:45 Presenter: Erin Lenz Do you have struggling readers in your classroom? Learn how to use a systematic approach to identify reading deficits and develop specific interventions to close the learning gap. Erin Lenz's passion for teaching struggling readers prompted her to spend hours learning about the complexities of learning to read and the common stumbling blocks that some children encounter. 103 Effective Classroom Management Strategies Time: 9:00-9:45 Presenter: Naomi Kerns Ideas and best practices for creating the best learning environment in your classroom. Has been in teaching for 33 years. 120 Mariology (toward advanced certification) Time: 9:00-11:35 Presenter: Bobbi Dominick This advanced certification workshop will examine the role of Mary in salvation and the development of Marian doctrine in the life of the church. Bobbi Dominick has served the church as an adult educator, pastoral associate, HR specialist and lawyer. DeAnna Heil teaches 5th/6th grade at St. Edward's Catholic School. She has been teaching for 15 years in the Catholic educational system. 520 Trinity (toward advanced certification) Time: 2:25-5:00 Presenter: Fr. Gerald Funke This workshop looks at how Trinity doctrine originates from the New Testament and how the Trinity shapes our understanding of our faith. Fr. Gerald Funke is the rector of St. John's Cathedral in Boise. 540 Reaching the Rest Time: 2:25-3:10 Presenter: Jeremy D. Cassidy The goal of this workshop is to explore ways we can reach beyond the teens who are currently coming to youth group or confirmation class. Participants will leave the session with several ideas they could use to improve their schools. Genny Ysursa teaches foreign language at Bishop Kelly High School in Boise. 602 Standard-Based Grading Time: 3:20-4:05 Presenter: Sarah Cox & Stacy Watanabe This session will discuss how the teacher plans and assigning grades using the standards. Sarah Cox and Stacy Watanabe are 1st grade teachers at St. Joseph's School in Boise. They have created standards based rubrics aligned to the Common Core Standards to share students' progress with parents. 603 Mastery Education Initiative Time: 3:20-4:05 Presenter: Kelly Brady This presentation will introduce you to the new legislation in Idaho, the schools and districts who are now designing and planning this work, and the possibilities for your schools. Kelly Brady is the director of mastery education for the Idaho Department of Education and has spent 30 years in the classroom. 604 Maker Space for K-12 Time: 3:20-4:05 Presenter: Morgen Larsen Explore the hands-on experiential world of maker spaces, through Next Generation Science Standards. You will learn the knowledge to organize and execute a multitude of easy STEAM projects. Morgen Larsen holds a M.S. from Western Governors University in Curriculum and Instruction. Morgen is sponsored by Northwest Council for Computer Education (NCCE). 605 POGIL Science Activities Time: 3:20-4:05 Presenter: Jim Maust & Bill Franklin POGIL activities focus on core concepts and encourage a deep understanding of the course material while developing higher-order thinking skills. James Maust earned an M.S. degree in Secondary Science Education in 2001 from Indiana University. He currently teaches at science at Bishop Kelly High School in Boise. Bill Franklin teaches Science at Bishop Kelly High School in Boise. He has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Wildlife Biology. 13 The session will provide an opportunity to ask questions about legal issues in the classroom in Idaho and across the country, new laws, regulations, and issues in the classroom. Elaine Eberharder-Maki is an expert in the state on special education law, a nationallyrenowned speaker, and a graduate level faculty member for special education administration at the University of Idaho. 607 Google Classrooms Time: 3:20-4:05 Presenter: Cheri Workman Learn how to set-up your online classroom and post your first few assignments. Cheri Workman is a middle school teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Boise since She teaches English and social studies. 608 Student Engagement Time: 3:20-4:05 Presenter: Dana Mikesell This session will focus on student engagement for children from birth to 8 years old. Dana Mikesell teaches 3-year-old preschool at St. Edward's in Twin Falls. She was the director of a Head Start program for 24 years. 621 Fundamental Theology (toward basic certification) Time: 3:20-5:00 Presenter: Kathy Barkdull An overview of who God is and our need for Salvation.
