2 Welcome Tim Eck Timothy Eck, Worship Arts Coordinator and Director of Chancel Music Timothy J. Eck hails from Lebanon, Pennsylvania, about 15 miles east of Hershey. Tim most recently served as Director of Music and Office Manager at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill, PA. from 2010 to August Tim also taught High School Choral Music in the Lebanon School District from 1990 to 2012 where he conducted 7 choirs and directed and produced the spring musicals. Tim s church music ministry began in 1984 at a Lutheran church in Lebanon, PA. He has worked in several Lutheran churches, and has also served United Methodist and Episcopal congregations. Tim has conducted community choirs, celebration choirs, and served as Guest Conductor for the Indiana County Choral Festival and the Sullivan/Tioga/ Bradford Choral Festival. He has served as a guest choral clinician, adjudicator and panelist, and also spent some years as Music Director at the renowned Sight and Sound Theater in Strasburg, Pennsylvania. Tim is father to a very talented 14 year old son, Jeremy. Tim is currently residing in Cuyahoga Falls.

3 Worship Arts Ministry Team Audio/Visual help needed. All 3 Services are in need of volunteers who are able to be trained to help put together PowerPoint/MediaShout presentations and to run them during the services. We also could use people who are interested in helping with sound, as well. Any level of commitment is welcome. Interested or want more information? Contact James Ferguson at jferguson@ faithumchurch.org or Tim Eck, the NEW Worship Arts Coordinator at teck@faithumchurch.org Meet and Greet Opportunities What: There is an opportunity to come meet Tim Eck our new Worship Arts Coordinator and Director of Carol Choir, Chancel Choir, and Schola Cantorum. When: Wednesday, August 30 at 6:00 pm for interested 4th grade to 6th grade singers and parents. (pizza and snacks dinner) Where: Robinson Hall Come Back to Choir. Wednesday, September 6th is the day to Come on Back to Choir. Rehearsals will resume for the program year beginning with Carol Choir (4th Grade through 6th Grade) beginning at 5:00 pm. Followed by Chancel Choir 7:30-9:00pm. These rehearsals will take place in the Sanctuary. Renewal Leave Team Drum Circle with Spiritual Director and Soul Shepherd, Debbie Baker Wednesday, September 6 at 6:00pm. Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 10. Rev. Dr. Phil Maynard, coach, systems thinker, and author of the book, Membership to Discipleship: Growing Mature Disciples Who Make Disciples, the resource that our Discipleship Worship Series, will be our guest in worship. Join us for lunch and Phil s workshop, Connect. Creating a Culture of Relationships that Matter at 12:00 pm. Saint Hildegard and the Greening Power of God with Spiritual Director Sharon Seyfarth Garner Wednesday, September 13 at 6:00 pm. These events are all made possible because of the Lilly grant supporting Pastor Steve s renewal leave. Youth Ministry Team Youth Group Kick Off: Welcome to a new year and a new time of story telling. Our Youth Group Kick Off will be August 27th at 6:30 in the Youth Room. Come out for a time of fun, worship and games and prepare to start a new year around the fires of the best story ever told. Bring your friends. Bring your cat. Bring your dog. Bring your questions, but most of all bring yourself. Youth Fall Program: Our Fall Youth Program will be held on Sunday nights at 6:30. Our Wednesday night program for the Youth will alternate between service projects and fun events after our dinner together at 6:00 pm. We hope to see any student from 6th-12th grade as much as you are able to attend. Youth Fall Retreat and Canoe Trip When: September 15th-16th 6pm at Faith UMC. $10 per student See Amy Ferguson for details.

Office Ministry: Please visit the LOST AND FOUND table in the gathering area. There are several things on the table that may belong to you or your children. What s going on? Sometimes it s too hot in the sanctuary, sometimes it s too cold in the sanctuary. Please bear with us as we attempt to find a solution to the problems with the air conditioning unit. It is not a simple fix and we have contacted another vendor to help us figure out a solution. Please bring a sweater or jacket next week just in case. Thanks for your patience. Second Wind Ministry: Join us in September for another program of beautiful music. Joanne Fox will bring her dulcimer and share a bit of her history with the instrument. 6 Spiritual Formation Ministry Team Adult Faith Formation and Discipleship: Fall into Faith and Get Connected at Faith UMC Fall Adult Groups are now forming. Contact Kathy Schmucker if you are interested in coordinating an adult group experience for fall. Art in Service of the Sacred: Arts Ministry Discussion, Tuesday, August 29 at 6:30 pm. First Tuesday Prayer Service: Please join us right after the Labor Day Weekend on Tuesday, September 5th at 8:30 am in the Chapel for First Tuesday. All are invited as Rev. Linda Reynolds will share her thoughts. She was particularly enthusiastic about the Youth Mission Trip this year maybe she will share some of that with us. Prayer stations will be set up at Faith UMC to guide us all in praying for our students, families, and our community as we go Back to School this fall. (1 Samuel 3:10) Weekly Family Devotions available at the Children s Welcome Station NEW Download the Deep Blue Adventure App: Watch the Deep Blue Bible Storybook come alive when using the Bible Storybook app. Try this Family Devotion based on 1 Samuel 1 with your family: PRAY TOGETHER ASK: What are some ways that we pray to God? How do our bodies look when we pray? How do our voices sound? (Child may discuss bowing head, clasping hands, closing eyes, praying out loud, praying together, singing, and so forth.) SAY: Today, let s learn a way to pray with our whole bodies, just like Hannah did. Let s do it together. This prayer is about remembering that God is everywhere. You can pray like this anytime. Stand facing your child. Stretch your arms up in the air and say, God above me. Crouch down and place your hands on the ground and say, God below me. Stand and stretch your arms in front of you and say, God before me. Stretch your arms behind you and say, God behind me. Spread your arms out to the sides and say, God beside me. Place your hands on your chest and say, God within my heart. Amen. Repeat a few times, modifying as needed given your abilities and the abilities of your child. Fall Sunday School ~ Opportunities to Serve Sunday mornings at 9:45 and 11:00 Share the love of Christ with children this Fall by serving in our Fall Sunday School as a preschool or elementary age teacher or helper.
