4 History of West Coast Bible College & Seminary WCBCS began as a dream of Dr. Kevin Harrison in 1999 to create a Bible college that is practical and relevant to life and ministry and yet one that would NOT create disciples of debt. Together with a team of educated men and women who have a passion for God and compassion for people, we've launched WCBCS as an online college and seminary so we could minimize the costs and allow people to continue their education without having to turn their family's lives upside down. The official launch of West Coast Bible College & Seminary was in 2006 after two years of preparations. Since then we have been privileged to serve students from around the world in getting the education they need for life and ministry. We are affiliated with Casa do Oleiro Ministries in Brazil which means "Potter's House" in Portuguese. Since 2000, Casa do Olerio has been involved with launching hundreds churches in Brazil, Africa, India, Russia, and other parts of the world, as well as to start and run orphanages for those in need. The goal of CdO is to see over 1 million people accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior over the next 10 years and to plant 500 more churches. To do this, we MUST train ministers to reach people!!! Admission is not 100% guaranteed, but it does provide a viable option for our students to continue on with their education. The following statement comes directly from the Liberty University Registrar's Office: "Liberty often does accept students into our graduate programs who have earned their undergraduate degree from an unaccredited college. If accepted, the student is admitted on probation for one semester. While different program may have slightly different rules for this, it s a general rule that if a student is in good academic standing after that full-time semester, then they may continue in that program. These decisions for admission are handled on a case-by-case basis, but it does open the door to your students being accepted into a graduate program at Liberty without a special exception being granted for West Coast Bible College & Seminary." A ministry degree from WCBCS has been recognized by many churches and ministries and we are constantly seeing new ways to gain relationships, memberships, and affiliations which will only enhance our credibility. Our professors possess degrees from: *Azusa Pacific University *Baylor University *Capella University *Fuller Theological Seminary *Houston Graduate School of Theology *Marquette University *Oral Roberts University *University of Oxford *Southwestern Assemblies of God University *Southern Baptist Theological Seminary *Southwestern Theological Seminary *Texas Tech University *University of Arizona *University of Illinois *University of Phoenix *University of Sao Paulo *University of Texas *University of Texas-Arlington *Vanderbilt University *Walden University and more FYI: A recent graduate of WCBCS phoned our office the other day and told us how his DMin degree from WCBCS played a major role in him receiving a $9 million contract with a ministry foundation. 6 West Coast Bible College & Seminary Statement of Beliefs *WE believe in salvation by faith in Jesus Christ who died on the cross as the substitute for our sin. WE believe that the grace of God makes it extremely difficult for us to lose our salvation! WE believe when people discover our awesome God personally that they will never want to go back to their former way of living! *WE believe in the complete and total authority of Scripture and its power to provide direction and purpose for our lives. *WE believe there is one TRUE God, who is revealed in the persons of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit commonly referred to as the Trinity. *WE believe in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ; as God's son Jesus was both human and divine. He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. *WE believe the Holy Spirit inhabits people at the moment of salvation and fills believers to empower them to live out the fruit of the Spirit and serve as witnesses for Jesus Christ. Additionally, He provides comfort to those who are hurting and direction for those needing guidance. *WE believe in and practice baptism by immersion as an outward expression of the inward decision to place one s faith in Jesus Christ, as well as taking communion to remember the sacrifice and suffering of Jesus on the cross. *WE believe Christians should develop in their faith and be committed to a life of personal devotion to God. Commitment is expressed through corporate and private worship, participation in small group Bible study, meaningful service in a ministry, giving financially in a God-honoring way and intentionally introducing others to a personal relationship with God. *WE believe a divinely called and scripturally ordained leadership ministry serves the church. West Coast Bible College & Seminary Mission Statement The mission of West Coast Bible College & Seminary is to honor God by educating and ministering to a diverse community of students for the purpose of developing servant-leaders who will radically impact the world where they live with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We accomplish this through biblically based programs and services that have an appreciation of past traditions, but that utilize cutting-edge technology and the latest resources to equip our student for the future. West Coast Bible College & Seminary Purpose & Objectives West Coast Bible College & Seminary exists to provide high-quality ministry training at the lowest cost possible to ensure that finances will not be a hindrance to the training of leaders and the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ. 1) Christ-Centered Our reason for existence centers around the person of Jesus Christ and therefore all of our programs, professors, and instruction will reflect this 2) People-Focused We know that all people matter to Jesus and they matter us, as well. Therefore, we will do everything in our power to ensure that all people are treated equally, fairly, and with respect because they are God s. 3) Uncompromisingly Bible-based We WILL NOT neglect, compromise, nor apologize for teaching the Word of God in every class. 4) Educationally Relevant We are committed to using the latest resources and delivery methods for our students to experience a culturally relevant education that will enable them to be effective wherever they live. 5) Spirit-led We believe the Holy Spirit leads all believers into fellowship with Jesus Christ and will direct the steps of those whose hearts are set on Him. We are committed to listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit in all facets of the educational process. 6

7 6) Missions-oriented We are committed to pouring 10% of all finances that come into West Coast Bible College & Seminary back into missions to build churches and to provide practical needs for those in countries outside of the U.S. 7) Theologically sound We are committed to theologically sound education that is based upon the Word of God. While methods will certainly change throughout the ages, the principles of God s Word are a firm foundation that must be properly discerned and taught so that our students will have a strong base of learning for life and ministry. 8) Great Commission driven The entire reason for our existence is the Great Commission; to go into the world and preach the Gospel to everyone. Our ultimate goal is to build the Kingdom and not an empire for ourselves! West Coast Bible College & Seminary Statement of Philosophy The educational philosophy of West Coast Bible College & Seminary is to keep the main thing the main thing. While all education is beneficial in nature, our programs seek to focus on the ten most important thing a student needs to know to help them be effective in ministry. Therefore, we have developed a new educational model that builds each class around a seminar type schedule whereby students can complete a course every 14 days at the bachelor level, every 20 days at the Master level, and every 30 days at the doctoral level. We believe education is about learning and not teaching and so we give our students opportunities to learn and grow through all of our programs and seek to provide practical teaching that will positively impact their life and ministry. Associate of General Ministries (60 hours) The Associate of General Ministries degree is a total of 60 hours/20 classes that falls in line with the Bachelor of General Ministries degree plan. In order to achieve this degree, a student will work with an advisor to take half of the classes in each division of the BGM degree plan.
