Call to Confession Prayer of Confession Confession All: Merciful God, When we see clearly the path we should follow, yet still choose our own way, forgive us. When we recognize you in the suffering of others, yet still turn our backs, forgive us. When we know that forgiveness is holy, yet still long for revenge, forgive us. When we want you to heal us and make us new, but doubt that you can or will, forgive us. We often fail to be true to who we are, O God, so we have no right to ask this, but we ask you to be true to who you are, and forgive us once again. 3 Response *Affirmation of Faith (from A Brief Statement of Faith) In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal. This year s focus is on early childhood education. These final sessions will focus specifically on things we can do individually and collectively in response to this critical need. Volunteers Needed Friendship Trays delivers hot and healthy lunches to people who are unable to secure or prepare meals for themselves. We are in need of additional volunteers to help deliver the meals. Charlotte Rescue Mission is serving a special breakfast and lunch on Easter.
