Cost of lunch is $5 February 13 Valentine s March 13 Winter Jam Youth will meet at First Baptist the Month of February. Feeding Jesus The dynamics are changing in the church kitchen on Saturday mornings. At least 7 teenagers are volunteers in the ministry of home-delivered meals on weekends. Imagine young people choosing to serve others instead of sleeping in on Saturday mornings! Usually, they take charge of preparing the bag lunches and then help to deliver the meals. Lots of laughter and joking makes for an enjoyable time. Folks on our 4 routes enjoy meeting our friendly crew. How wonderful that the ministry is inter-generational. The teen Sunday school class prepared Christmas cards for the recipients of meals. Signed cards were decorated with beautiful art work. Also, attached to the cards were silver angel necklaces for each recipient made by the students. The class plans to provide valentines in February. This personal contact is meaningful to those who receive the cards. Thank you to those who continue to support this ministry with your time, money and supplies. Always needed: sandwich baggies, juice boxes/pouches, sweet or salty snacks (individually packaged), and baked goods (unfrosted). To God be the Glory, Beverly Hinds United Methodist Women Our January meeting was a business meeting to make plans for the year. Of our 17 members on the roll, 12 were present. Hostesses for our monthly gatherings were selected and duties assigned. Eleanor Fields and Vickie Lennon will co-host the February meeting. The program will be given by Jackie Rentz, Vice-President, on the Call to Prayer and Self Denial Offering, which goes to mission projects. Our local mission projects will remain the same, with the exception of Sacred Pathways, which will receive $100 instead of $200. We will continue to support RCCCC, Alexander from Bolivia (World Vision), MATCH, and Penny and a Prayer. Nancy McPhaul gave a brief history of the forming of the UMW by 8 women who were interested in Missions in the 1800's. We now number over 800,000. She also explained our monetary donations and distributed pledge cards for the year. Trinity will host the Senior Citizens in February. Hostesses will be Vickie Lennon, Becky Lewis, Jackie Rentz and Mildred Townsend. Our president, Rebecca Jackson,attended the Robeson Sub-District meeting at New Hope UMC in Rowland on Saturday, January 25, where we received a certificate for being a MISSION TODAY Unit. We were proud to receive this honor; only four other units in the county received it. We are celebrating a new Quadrennial word: PROCLAIM this year. We will welcome any new members at any time. Just come to the fellowship hall on the second Tuesday at 1:00pm...or give Rebecca a call ( )...we will even pick you up!!!

2 2014 Chrysalis On January 18-20, four of our youth attended this event that was held at Camp Dixie. All four of the youth thoroughly enjoyed the event and all stated they didn't wait to leave when the event was over. All four also stated that the food was Great. But most of all they all professed the Lord Jesus Christ and have stated they will serve the rest of their lives working and living for him. Trinity, I challenge you help guide the youth and help provide for these youth the way God would want to you in hopes of preparing others for the Kingdom of Heaven. The Girl Scout Cookie Sales Event has started out on a positive note.. There has GIRLS SCOUTS been a total of third deliveries of cookies just to Troop #1623. At this point they have been delivered a total of 1,544 cases which consist of 18,528 boxes of cookies. The cookie sale ends March 2,. Please see Ms. Kim if you need or would like to make a purchase.. The Girls Scout s Reward for the selling of the cookies is a week long trip to Walt Disney World in Florida. The troop will be transported by Cross Country Tours charter bus. On January 28, the Girl Scouts decorated placemats for the unpcoming Senior Citizens dinner that will be held on February 10:30. UMM On February 5, Todd Rentz will be the guest speaker. His talk will include a photo journal from his Africa Mission Trip. Dinner will begin at 6:30 provided by the Boy Scouts. On the March 5 meeting, the men s Special Guest will be Billy Duncan. Mr. Duncan was the recent keynote speaker at the Regional AA Myrtle Beach. His topic will be AA Groups. Supper will be provided by UMW. All men of the church please attend these two special meetings. Spotlight on Trinity Youth Kade McPhaul was listed as Student of the Month in the Red Springs Citizen newspaper. This as not been the first time that he was been nominated for this title. His English teacher at Flora McDonald, where he is a Senior, nominated him. He excels in his English class and is a well rounded athlete. He has been accepted to Campbell University. Our church Facebook address is: CUB & BOY SCOUTS Scout Master Roger Sheats is still in the hospital with a myriad of illnesses. Doctors are working to repair in order to get him back to his boys. MS. Elenor Fields and Vicckie Lennon have wqrked diligently to keep things going. A special word of thanks to Corey Fields for helping these special ladies as they work to keep these scouts busy in this vital community ministry. 3 A Letter From the Pastor Greetings in the Name of The Lord, The Light, The Giver of Life! Page 3 We pray you have had a good month since our last Newsletter communication! I also pray this finds you well, healthy and filled with the Love of God and the Power of his Spirit. I pray he continues to create in us all the Servants Heart mindset in order that Trinity may continue to grow first in Spirit, as well as in Number. When the servant heart is being promoted, the Love of Christ avails to all! Jesus said that the greatest among you would be called servant. In developing the servant s heart, one rule is above all others. That rule is, Don t think so much of yourself, and just don t think of yourself so much! In this lies the basis of the Servants Heart mindset. There is much to discuss Trinity s UMYF.Let me just say WOW!!! Four on the Chrysalis flights, and four to experience the love and Fire of Christ Jesus. Speaking of Fire, Trinity UMYF will be attending the Acquire the Fire Youth Event at the Greensboro Coliseum in March. LaGayle and I were invited to the plenary dinner for this event, and we were able to get tickets at a 75% discount. Many thanks to the Trinity Administrative Council for supporting this event. One week before the Acquire the Fire event, Trinity UMYF will attend Winter Jam at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville. As you can tell, Trinity s youth are very busy, and that is GOOD!!! Bro. Todd has a mission trip to Nicaragua upcoming in February, so he covets our prayers and support in this endeavor. The church is anxious to see pictures and hear the stories of the people he is able to reach in this great work At the Wednesday Night Administrative Council Meeting, on January 29th, 2014, I revealed a Ministerial Action Plan for Trinity United Methodist Church. I will be able to answer any questions you may have concerning this plan. It will include asthetic, visual, and audio improvement to the physical plant, as well as a plan of action for increased church growth and community involvement to Missional Ministry that could develop in a growth rate that could possible top 20% of existing numbers. There will, as I previously said be more to come on this. Keep all of our sick folks before the Lord in Prayer. Dot Bodenheimer, as well as Roger Sheats continue to improve. 4 Hats Off to Kenya Contreras This past weekend, Kenya Contreras was in Pine Knoll Shores (Emerald Isle) to attend Rotary's annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Program. She was selected by the Red Springs Rotary Club to attend. Every year, 100 high school Juniors are selected by the 51 Rotary Clubs in the 16 counties that make up a Rotary District in Southeastern North Carolina. Attendance is an "award" that recognizes the chosen attendees for their past and present leadership and service activities. At camp, these select young people are inspired by a diverse group of exceptional speakers, make life-long friends through fellowship activities and discuss the ethical and social issues of today. These activities are conducted in an atmosphere of trust and respect. The result is that these students return to their schools and communities motivated to take on additional leadership roles and to find additional ways to serve. Team building and team work are some of the building stones upon which the training is based. Through RYLA, the delegates will: >>Develop leadership skills and character. >>Gain exposure to a variety of issues and people. >>Meet active community leaders. >>Learn valuable information and career skills. >>Learn to recognize importance of communication skills in effective leadership. >>Build self-esteem and self confidence. >>Recognize the importance of service to the community and world.
