Friday, June 20, :30 to 3:00pm 1-01 History of the Catholic Church in Hawaii Patrick Downes What was it like for those who came before us, setting the foundation and establishing the Church as we know it today? Gary Secor This workshop provides participants with an introduction and overview of the Church s teaching on homosexuality and brings clarity to misconceptions on the topic. Participants will also be presented with some practical, pastoral approaches to this topic in their ministry.

Catechists earn credit for CC Following in the Footsteps of St. Damien: A 90-Minute Retreat Sr. Helene Wood Join us in the midst of your daily life, in the middle of this conference, for a 90-minute retreat inspired by the life and ministry of St. Damien of Molokai Facebook Faith: Doing Ministry from Your iphone Sr. CC Cabral, Merelyn Lubong and Lisa Gomes This hands-on workshop will help you begin using your Facebook account for evangelization and faith formation. Participants should be familiar with common Facebook features like tagging, sharing, commenting and liking posts/pages. Make sure to bring your favorite mobile device! 2-04 Many Faces in God s House Malu Kamanu and Kathy Lee How can we minister effectively with all of the cultural groups represented within our parish communities? Participants will explore the importance of creating room for all the cultural differences while maintaining unity within diversity At the Crossroads: Balancing Faith and Politics Eva Andrade What is church teaching on when and how our faith should intersect with politics? Sr. Fay Josephine Pele Cinema provides marvelous opportunities to help ourselves and others meet Jesus in daily life. This very visual and practical presentation will look at a variety of film clips from major motion pictures through the lens of the Gospels, offering suggestions and authentic experiences of cinema divena Challenging Men to the Radical Adventure of God s Will Bear Woznick It s time for us men to abandon ourselves to the wild adventure of God's will. Learn the 20/20/20 rule for big wave surfing and use it as a means to challenge ourselves to a pattern of prayer with God. This session is offered for men 18 and older Go Ask Your Father. Talking with Teens about Tough Topics Diocesan Seminarian EJ Resinto How do we talk to teens about moral issues? This class is designed for an adult audience to help you become more comfortable sharing a powerful and liberating understanding of living as a child of God, following the moral teachings of Scripture, Tradition, and Holy Church and seeking incessantly to build virtue in our lives.
