5 Getting Started We love the question, Where do I start? because everything at Princeton Alliance Church (PAC) starts with Jesus. If you re new to church life, we want to introduce you to Him. If you ve heard of Jesus but haven t experienced His love and forgiveness, we want to show you how you can. If you know Jesus and want to deepen your relationship with Him, we want to walk alongside you on your journey. As your first step toward feeling at home at PAC, stop by our Welcome Center in the main lobby for information and answers to your questions. 6 Getting Started Once you ve gotten started, we want you to get connected and involved in the life of the church. That s where this Growth Guide comes in. Its purpose is to help you find practical ways to know God, develop community and bring hope. To keep things simple, we ve organized the content that way. So take some time to see how we can serve you, and you can serve others. Opportunities exist for every member of your family. If you need guidance, our pastors are available after any worship service to personally speak to you and pray with you. You can also contact a pastor by at pastors@princetonalliance.org or by calling the church office at

7 Everything we do stems from knowing God and being in relationship with Him. He calls us into His presence for worship, conversation and a continual discovery of who He is. This is where we find the grace, love and strength required for living life to the fullest in Jesus. Worship Worship is our soul s response to what we value most... Jesus. Corporate worship as a church family provides a consistent way for us to celebrate who He is, and to be edified and equipped by hearing His Word. Weekly Services: Sunday, 9:45 and 11:15 am Mandarin Chinese and Spanish translation available at both services Visit the Welcome Center for hearing assistance or translation devices Adults and High School Students Sanctuary Middle School Students (6th 8th grade) Refuel Chapel Children (K 5th grade) Crosswalk Great Room Newborn Preschool Promised Land Near the spiral stairs You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. 8 Spiritual Development 2013 Every Word Series Jesus answered, It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 One-hour of weekly worship isn t enough to build a meaningful, powerful, personal relationship with Jesus. Take a moment to let that sink in. We need daily spiritual nourishment. Every day we need to spend time praying, reading Scripture and seeking the leading of the Holy Spirit. These are among the fundamental disciplines of a fully devoted follower of Christ. Because I believe this is critical to the life of PAC, we ve been spending the year reading through the Bible. All of us. Together. Our goal: To develop the daily habit of spending time in God s Word so we can know Him more fully. Printed daily reading plans are available at the Welcome Center and in the lobby literature racks. If you prefer to go digital, you can download the free smartphone app called YouVersion (Bible) by LifeChurch. Or you can visit youversion.com online. In either case we re using the Chronological Bible plan to help us understand the context of the Scripture we read. That means we aren t reading straight through from Genesis to Revelation. Instead, we re reading the Scripture in the order it was written. Each Sunday as we gather for worship, the message relates to a portion of what you read during the week. If you re new to PAC, simply start with the current day s reading. If you fall behind a bit, don t give up. Start again with the current day s reading. Keep in mind that YouVersion also offers an audio option that can help you keep up or catch up. We ve grown as the Body of Christ from this experience. I believe that if we finish the year strong, faithfully reading God s Word and seeking His presence, our lives will be forever changed. Dr. Boyd Hannold Lead Pastor 4

23 Prayer Talking to and listening to God is a critical part of the Christian life. We need those quiet moments to center ourselves on Jesus and hear His Spirit s voice so we can obediently respond to His leading. Although prayer is a component of all of our activities at PAC, we ve also created some prayercentric opportunities where we gather specifically for this purpose. Global Prayer Service Every Sunday 9 9:30 am Room 202 Each Sunday morning we meet for 30 minutes to pray for our mission partnerships around the globe. Every other Wednesday, we start a little earlier at 6 pm, and meet for Bible study first. Visit princetonalliance.org/calendar for dates. To donate a vehicle, cars@princetonalliance.org. 28

35 Go Missions In faith and humilty PAC has accepted God s call to cross-culturally share the love and grace of Jesus. We do this with a global ministry focus on three specific areas: At-risk children Marginalized families Creative church planting This means we partner with organizations that allow us to help: Prevent the prostitution and trafficking of children Provide food, housing and a nurturing environment to street orphans Assist families in crisis due to poverty or natural disaster Creatively plant new churches Keep an eye out for the list of 2014 mission trips that will be offered to the church family, and be praying now for God to guide you where He wants you to serve. missions@princetonalliance.org x 27 princetonalliance.org/missions 31

36 Go Church Planting In 2009 PAC began a church planting movement to reach those in need of the Gospel. 217church, which meets at the AMC Theater in Hamilton, is now a spiritually, operationally and financially sound church endorsed by the Christian and Missionary Alliance. In February of 2012 PAC lauched Element Church in North Brunswick. Under the leadership of Pastor Matthew Murphy, Element Church now has an average weekly attendance of 150 at the Regal Cinema along with a growing small group ministry and an effective community outreach. Service Location Regal Commerce 18 Cinema Theaters 7 & US 1 South North Brunswick, NJ Church Mailing Address Element Church c/o PAC 20 Schalks Crossing Road Plainsboro, NJ For service times and more, visit elementnj.org. 32
