2 ASSEMBLE IN GOD S NAME WELCOME Reverend Cameron Smith PRELUDE Meditation on Beach Spring Hal Hopson INTROIT CALL TO WORSHIP Sisters and brothers, of dates and times I need not write to you. We know the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. We are prepared! That day will not surprise us! We are daughters and sons of light. We are awake. We are alert. We are self-controlled. We have unique strengths; employing those strengths in our worship of God and service to our neighbors. Our breastplate is hand fabricated with faith and love. The hope of salvation in Christ is our helmet. We receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, we encourage one another and build each other up in love. Come, let us worship the Lord! *HYMN 697 Take My Life HENDON CONFESSION God of great giving, we confess that we hoard our gifts. You give us talents of speaking and teaching, and we pretend we can t use them. You give us gifts of working with our hands, and minds, and we often use those gifts for our own gain and self-satisfaction, forgetting the needs of others. You give us wisdom and knowledge, and we hide what we know, for fear of being laughed at or ignored. Forgive us, Lord for living as an entitled people. Open our hearts, great God, so that we can be part of Your love for the world, sharing our talents with others. ASSURANCE OF PARDON *GLORIA PATRI 581 Colossians 1:21-23a GLORIA BAPTISM QUESTION TO THE CHURCH Joshua Stokes Do you, the members of this congregation, in the name of the whole church of Christ, undertake with Tyler and Kelli the Christian nurture of Benjamin, so that in due time he may confess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior? If yes, please signify so by standing. PRAYER UNISON Father, pour out Your Spirit on us, that we may participate again in Your baptism. May all who pass through these waters be delivered from death to life, from bondage to freedom, from sin to righteousness. To You be praise, honor, and glory; through Jesus Christ our Savior, who, with You and the Holy Spirit, reigns forever. Amen. BENJAMIN ROBERT WILLIAMS Son of Robert Tyler Williams and Kelli Parnelle Williams Born December 13, 2016 Please sign the baptism card in the friendship register and pass it to your neighbor to sign as well.
