We are in the midst of traveling together on a vitally important Journey. We travel with One who has been there before, One who shares the faithful love of his Heavenly Father, whose eternal care surrounds us all always, in every life circumstance. The traditional 40-day journey of Lent began with Ash Wednesday (Feb. 13), continues through all of this month of March, and will conclude with Holy Week (March 24-30) and Easter (March 31). Ash Wednesday included the ancient Christian tradition of the Imposition of Ashes as a sign of repentance and a turning away from those things that hinder us from experiencing the fullness of life that Jesus embodies. Midweek Lenten Services, on Wednesday evenings after Ash Wednesday, include Soup Suppers and Holden Evening Prayer to facilitate our Lenten renewal (March 6, 13, 20). Weekend Worship in Lent also joins our faith journey to the journey of Jesus. In profound readings from the Gospels at worship this month: Jesus addresses the source of tragedies that happen to people Jesus shares the classic welcoming parable of the Prodigal Son Jesus receives the care of Mary, whose brother Jesus raised from death Jesus arrives in Jerusalem, is betrayed and is crucified Jesus is raised from the dead at Easter The result of Jesus faithfulness to the mission of healing and love from his Heavenly Father is that he is killed by those who want to stop God s way of love in the world. But the brutality of the Cross leads finally to the New Life of the Resurrection. In the Risen One, God has transformed even the darkest of times to bring the surprise of new life and eternal embrace. That is the Life we share with Jesus in our Baptism. As we look at our mission personally and as a community of faith, God s Spirit grounds us in the faithfulness of Jesus. We see that even more clearly in this holy season. Blessed Lenten Journey, Pastor John Lottes

So I ll miss your growing to adulthood, as I have seen it with you older ones. We have put all our trust in each of you, as we have in your parents and grandparents (some of whom I have taught here at Our Lord s). You will have serious choices in life. Let me say with all my heart: whatever you do in life, lean on, stand on, keep prominent, your Faith which has been given to you especially. You are special in the Lord s sight and I have seen it in each one of you. Be what you are inside and shine! It s who you really are have fun with it all. It is easier for Jesus to forgive you sometimes than for you to forgive yourself so always return to Him (Remember the Prodigal Son?) in order that you are able to freely continue to shine and to move on. Have a great walk through all the troubles and joys in your journey through life and we ll meet again at the end/ beginning trust me, and fear not. It all is blessed! Love ya!
