THEN HE SAID TO HIS DISCIPLES, "THE HARVEST IS PLENTIFUL BUT THE WORKERS ARE FEW. ASK THE LORD OF THE HARVEST THEREFORE, TO SEND OUT WORKERS INTO HIS HARVEST FIELD." MATTHEW 9:37-38 COVENANT FELLOWSHIP CHURCH 2016 ANNUAL REPORT

FROM OUR PASTORS To Our Church Members, Past and Present, as well as Friends of CFC: Over 27 years ago, God planted Covenant Fellowship Church on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. One morning as Pastor Min was praying, God etched onto his heart the desire to produce workers for the kingdom of God (Matthew 9:37-38). It is with this vision that God has been working in the members of CFC but also through the members of CFC to become workers for God. As we reflect back on 2016, we can see how God has been working faithfully in the members of CFC. Although the church has been in the same location since 1990, the demographics of CFC membership have changed since it first began. Many more out-of-state and international students can be found attending small groups and other church events as the admission of these students has increased at the University of Illinois. (The University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana is in the top 5 of largest international student populations in the U.S.) The number of non-university students also continues to grow as post-graduates settle down in the community to work and build their families. With the increase of post-graduates living in the community, the number of children attending our church also continues to increase. In addition to being a church with many different age groups, we also have a diversity of ethnicities, with over twenty different ethnolinguistic groups represented at CFC. Although the demographics of the church have changed, through the preaching of God's Word and prayer, God continues to minister to the members of CFC. God has also been working through the members of CFC to share His love with the world. Whether it has been through events such as the New Student Week Picnic or the Summer Festival, programs such as the Summer Missions Programs, or ministries such as International Student Connection, we are doing our best to share God's love with the world. It is our hope and prayer that CFC will be a church that will serve and love the Lord maximally, so that God will be maximally glorified in and through our lives. We desire for every day we live to be the day that we love Jesus the most. Difficulties may come along the way, but through the Word and prayer, we will fix our eyes on the One who is and always will be faithful. Raising workers for His kingdom! -2-

SUNDAY SCHOOL Contact Persons: Jinny Cho, Tiffany Jon 17 volunteers 86 students The Sunday School ministry is a partnership with families in planting seeds of the gospel into young hearts and minds. Our hope and prayer is that God will raise up seedings that will sprout up through laying building blocks of faith through the Word and encouraging a heart of worship and relationship with Christ at an early age (Isaiah 61:11). The weekly schedule includes Worship, a Big God Story and small group discussion for ages PreK-5th grade each Sunday during the 12:30PM service. We are currently using the David C Cook's TruStory curriculum. NURSERY Contact Person: Yun Jung Yi 9 volunteers 17 students The Nursery ministry provides care for one- to two-year-old children during the 12:30PM service on Sundays when there are 2 services. During this time, the children eat lunch and have play time. The two-year-old children also have Story Time, which is a short worship time with a Bible lesson, prayer, songs, and an activity. -9-

missions: smp & summer school SUMMER MISSIONS PROGRAM In addition to supporting people serving as full-time workers overseas, CFC also participates in the Great Commission by sending out short-term teams in the summer. Participants began preparing for SMP in February 2016, learning about the culture, raising support, and most importantly, laying a foundation of prayer. Administration Team: Rev. Sean Lee, Alex Park, Sarah Kwon, Grace Jeon, Baochau Trang, Sebastian Lee Finance- Christine Yu, Esther Chan 24 participants 8 volunteers SMP FINANCE SUMMARY Income Donations Received Japan (YA team) $9, Thailand (4-week) $34, Northeast Asia $10, Program - General $3,640 Easter Dinner $4, Program Fees $ TOTAL INCOME $63, Expenses Team Expenses Japan (YA team) $9, Thailand (4-week) $35, Northeast Asia $15, Program Expenses $ TOTAL EXPENSES $61, JAPAN Team Leader: Rev. Kevin J Kim June 16 - June 29 5 participants The purpose of this trip was to enable college students and working professionals of our church to serve in a cross-cultural ministry context in Osaka, Japan alongside J-House Church, whom we've partnered with since Part of our time was spent visiting a local college campus and sharing the Gospel with different students, and connecting them to the local church. The other part of our trip was spent focusing on building up and strengthening J-House by doing inductive Bible studies, leading prayer groups, and training at the leadership level. -12-

SHORT-TERM MISSIONS THAILAND TEAM Team Leader: Rev. Sean Lee June 13 - July participants We partnered with a missionary who was a pastor at CFC for many years and is now serving in Bangkok, Thailand. There is a huge spiritual need in Bangkok as only 3 of 1,000 people know Jesus. So we reached out to college students through seminars where we would teach American culture and othe fun classes like ultimate frisbee. After these sessions, we would go eat and pray that God would open up opportunities for us to share our testimonies in why we believe in Jesus Christ. On the weekends, we supported a local church by sharing about Jesus through vacation bible school (VBS) to church members and also local children in low income housing. A few students decided to give their lives to Jesus Christ and was baptized. Our host has been following up with them through Bible studies and discipleship. NORTHEAST ASIA TEAM Team Leader: Rev. Sean Lee May 11 - May 24 5 participants This was the third year CFC worked alongside REAH international and a university in Northeast Asia to host a leadership program for college students. The program was designed to have lasting impact on the student leaders that were mentored by the faculty. The team provided career guidance and leadership skills that could help in their future to be global leaders, especially in that region. The team members gave seminars, taught English and built relationships with the college students. -13-

THAILAND MEDICAL TEAM Team Leader: Dr. Harold Yoon July 2 - July 12 9 participants We partnered with missionary doctor Bob Shim and provided medical care to a persecuted ethnic minority group in rural western Thailand, close to the Myanmar border. About 300 patients were seen in a week, and every patient was prayer for. One patient accepted Jesus while we were there, and we experienced many other ways that God is working to raise up His church in this remote area. We saw how God can use physical healing to open hearts to the gospel. KENYA TEACHERS TEAM Team Facilitator: Amos Lee July 10 - July 27 8 participants In this 8th year, we continued to hold a ten day conference to support teachers on their journey for certification. We also spent time helping a few students with their research projects which are a required component of their certification process. I have recently learned that one of the students has passed the national examination and has been awarded a diploma in early childhood education. Praise God! This was also the last year for the Kenya teacher trip as the goals for curricular development have been completed. -14-

statement of faith WE BELIEVE the Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the Divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.... in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.... that Jesus Christ is the true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, arose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of God the Father; He is our High Priest and Advocate.... that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore totally lost, unable to save himself, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can he obtain salvation and eternal life.... that only those whom God calls in His grace, through no choice of their own, will express faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.... that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only those who receive Jesus Christ through faith and repentance become children of God.... that water baptism and the Lord s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church during that present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation.... that the true Church is composed of all regenerated believers who are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the Head.... in the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this hope has a vital bearing on the present personal life and service of the believer.... in the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment. -17-
