7 Local NMI President s 15-Point Checklist With God s help, I will: Build a relationship with my pastor, local council and other local presidents. Communicate regularly with my pastor and council on all major emphases and upcoming events. Enlist the aid of my district president and district council when needing information, inspiration, or advice and strive to be a team player on my zone and district. Inform my district president of any exciting mission news from my church. Submit year-end reports on time. Prepare for local council meetings so reporting and input, vision-casting and teambuilding, planning and implementing, can be effective. Hold council members accountable for their emphases/assignments and reporting. Provide ongoing training to council members, giving them written job descriptions, including examples of what has been successful, and resource materials. Emphasize the importance of Mission Priority One and urge my church to meet and exceed all goals. Set goals for my church with the input of the pastor and council on the major emphases and keep those goals before my congregation. Follow through on my church s participation in each emphasis and ensure that all offerings are submitted on time. Support Connecting a New Generation, the decadal goals set for children and youth, and challenge my church to include the young people of the church in our mission plans. Work with the council to guarantee an informative, exciting, fast-paced, people-involved monthly missionary service. Assure that my church has a place for NMI promotion (bulletin board, newsletter, display, etc.) and that NMI is presented creatively in an attention-getting manner. Ask God daily to give me passion, wisdom, creativity, and strength for my mission s task.

10 Adult Project Bangladesh Motorcycle Project In Bangladesh, it is often not easy to get from place to place. Public transportation is unsafe and unreliable, rented vehicles are costly and not available everywhere. This project will make a great difference in church ministries and NCM projects, particularly child development centers. Each motorcycle is $ 1,600 or 5 for $8,000. The amount that we are sending out of the NMI budget is: $ 2,500, but we would like to raise an additional $7,500 to make a total of $ 10,000 towards these motorcycles. This would mean that we can purchase 6 motorcycles from Eastern Michigan District. The ACM number is: ACM1339. Teen Project JESUS Film Harvest Partners Micro SD Cards for Videos We would like to partner with Jesus Film Harvest Partners in purchasing enough micro SD cards for videos that hold the JESUS Film on them. They are the size of a dime. This tiny card is easy to transport to resistant areas allowing the JESUS Film to be shared in a discreet manner. 13 Memorial Roll Certificates Distinguised Service Awards Gifts from the Heart Medical Plan Offerings Missionary Health Care The time is now to give to Missionary Health Care. You can help to cover the cost of the health care for all of our Missionaries which is over $ 2.9 million a year. The time is now to invest in a Distinguished Service Award (DSA) for $ 100 to honor someone in your church who has gone above and beyond to further the work of the Lord. Make the day special for that someone. Remember that a Memorial Roll Certificate (MR) for $ 50 is an excellent way to memorialize a family member, friend or loved one who has passed on to glory. Any time is a good time to give Gifts from the Heart. This is a way to honor someone with any amount. Another good way to contribute to this fund is by giving a Medical Plan offering to help the missionaries. Any amount is acceptable. All four ways can be purchased or given through the Global Treasury Services at or send it to: Global Treasury Services, Church of the Nazarene, P O Box , Kansas City, MO Make checks payable to: General Treasurer.

14 World Mission Broadcast Offering $ 4.00 per minute can change the world!!!! The annual World Mission Broadcast Offering (WMBO) provides resources to reach millions around the world for Christ via broadcast media, especially radio. Received in June each year, the WMBO provides funding for program production, airtime, and follow-up materials. Holiness programming, delivered by radio, television and the internet, reaches around the world with the message of Jesus and his redeeming love and helps to disciple those who respond. The prayer and financial support of individuals, and the local churches are vital to this broadcast ministry. Nazarene Missions International promotes special offerings through Nazarene churches around the world. If you want more information, go to

15 LINKS - Loving, Interested Nazarenes, Knowing and Sharing Where did LINKS come from? Box work began on the Southern California District in The Box Work project grew until, in 1922, a Box Work committee of three was appointed with Mrs. Paul F. (Ada) Bresse as chair. How can I get involved? Pray specifically and effectively for missions, especially the missionary assigned to you. Retired missionaries assigned have served a minimum of 25 years. All others are currently actively serving on their assigned field. Remember, the most important thing to do is pray. What can I do to help? A LINKS cash assignment is given for personal needs. (This amount comes out of the percentage that you give to missions through the district.) Birthdays, anniversary, Christmas and other gifts are in addition. NMI assures you that all monies designated for LINKS will go directly to the LINKS missionary designated. Are there other ways that I can get involved? Correspond regularly with your LINKS missionaries. Remember their birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays with card, and/or a monetary giving. Please remember to let the missionary know if you have sent money to the Global Ministry Center to be put into their account. Unofficial LINKS - Unofficial LINKS provides additional opportunities for connecting with the missionaries by providing some of their wishes. Some examples are: rolled bandages, sample medication, literature, etc. and can be found on the NMI web site at Please send only the current things on the list. New lists are updated every February or March. Remember to send $2.00 per package for duty money to the General Treasurer. Refer to your NMI Handbook and Constitution for additional information.

16 What is Alabaster? The Alabaster Offering provides funds for property and buildings around the world. While we understand the church consists of the people of God and not a building, buildings erected for the purpose of ministry help provide a sense of permanence, functionally enhance ministry efforts, and convey an attitude that the Church of the Nazarene intends to "put down roots." Alabaster funds help provide land for many Work & Witness projects, and the entire Alabaster Offering goes toward the purchase of land and construction of churches, schools, medical facilities, and homes for missionaries and national workers. How Are Alabaster Offerings Received? The Alabaster Offering gets to the mission field via several avenues. The most widely used is the Alabaster Box. Individuals are challenged to regularly contribute the cost of items they desire but do not need. The boxes also serve as reminders to pray for those people who will benefit from Alabaster buildings. In September and February, the money is collected. Sometimes a "march offering" is received with individuals carrying their boxes to the front of the church and pouring the money into a large offering container. The way an offering is received is as varied as the world areas in which the Church of the Nazarene has a presence; however, it is always accompanied with a spirit of rejoicing. Many churches receive regular offerings throughout the year that are designated as Alabaster funds. (This is often a part of the Faith Promise plan for missions giving.) However, the semi-annual offerings should still be received, allowing opportunity for giving by those not participating in other ways. Alabaster should be well-publicized. All ages are encouraged to participate with leaders educating local churches as to the need for centers of holiness evangelism around the world.

32 Instructions for constructing a bandage roller Materials: Base - use 1 wood or five-layer plywood, 6x4x1 inch End pieces - 5x21/4x1 inch, with notches Other - 4 nails, 1 piece of 1/8 inch wire 12 inches in length The wood blocks may be rounded for smoothness. Sand well before and after nailing. Bore 3/16 hole, one inch from the top of each end piece. Notch the end pieces to fit tightly against the base. For greatest strength, drive nails into the end, one a little bit higher than the other. Bend wire to form center bar and handle. In the center of the bar, flatten a three-inch strip so that the bandage will hold firmly. Insert aluminum wire through holes and turn handle. Bandage roller may be shellacked or varnished if desired. Instructions for making roller bandages Materials - Old used sheets, or any muslin or similar types. (Colored sheets are used on the children s ward.) Needle and thread. Size - Most useful size is 3 inches wide and 6 yards (or meters) long. Method - Tear muslin into 3 inch widths. Stitch pieces together until you have 6 yards of continuous strip. Roll the 6 yards as tightly as possible. Tack with thread to secure the end. Rubber bands are not good as they re destroyed in the autoclave when being sterilized. Note - Most bandages may be made in 1, 2, or 4 wide by 6 yards long, but the preferable width is 3.
