Just then some men came, carrying a paralyzed man on a bed. 6 Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. 8 The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. 11 My Neighbor is Muslim: Exploring the Muslim Faith Sundays, April 17 through May 8; 10:45 a.m.-noon in the Great Hall During this four-week series we will learn about the basic foundations of Islam and the Muslim faith. We will have exceptionally qualified speakers cover such topics as the Five Pillars of Islam, the Qur an (Koran), and what it is like to live here as a Muslim. We will hear personal stories from both a male and female Muslim and have the opportunity to ask questions and be in dialogue with a local Imam (religious leader). It will be extremely educational and a wonderful opportunity to learn how to love our neighbor. Sunday, April 17: Rev. Kathryn A. Tiede, Director of Church Partnership and Philanthropy at Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, introduces the series, then Yusuf Abdi tells his story and teaches on the five pillars of Islam. Yusuf Abdi is the Program Director for Refugee Services at Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. Yusuf oversees operations for LSS Refugee Services and provides overall leadership for the development, direction and integration of refugee services to meet the needs of refugees and the communities where they settle in Minnesota. Yusuf has been affiliated with LSS since 2000 when his family received assistance to resettle in Pelican Rapids. Yusuf represents Lutheran Social Service as a member of the anti-racism taskforce. He also serves as a Board of Immigration Appeals accredited representative in Minnesota. When he isn t busy working, Yusuf offers his time to college master s classes, healthcare providers, high school faculties and civic organizations to create greater understanding about refugee resettlement, the basic tenets of Islam, Somali culture, and working with a diverse population. He actively volunteers for a number of Twin Cities-based service organizations. Yusuf is a graduate of North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and minor in Computer Science. Yusuf resides in Burnsville with his wife, Fatima, and their three children, Imran, Ilyas and Istahil. Sunday, April 24: Quran & Jihad taught by Br.
