2 Pastor: The Pastor is the spiritual and administrative head of the church. As spiritual leader, he is to teach and preach the Gospel and provide leadership in developing the various ministries necessary as God directs him. As administrator, he is to oversee and lead in the financial development, budgeting, and management of church funds, as well as management of personnel. (The responsibilities of the Pastor are dictated by the Lord. However, a partial list is included for your information). 1. Proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and lead the church in proclaiming the Gospel to the community 2. Provide administrative leadership for the total church program 3. Appoint and remove officers or lay leaders as necessary 4. Care for persons in and out of the church and lead the church in caring ministries 5. Lead and provide direction for worship services 6. Supervise the work of other members of the Church Council 7. Provide leadership for the observance of the ordinances of the church 8. Provide leadership in the training of Deacons and church leaders 9. Set goals and objectives for the overall ministry of the church 10. Other duties including but not limited to: Counseling Reading Studying Planning Praying Researching Interpreting Listening Structuring Restructuring Learning Organizing Elders and Ministers The elders and ministers are companions in the ministry, ranking highest next to the Pastor, therefore admitted to some but not all rights and privileges but such as those granted by the Pastor. He is to follow the spiritual guidance of the Pastor in the capacity or capacities in which he is assigned. One elder may be designated by the pastor to act on his behalf in his absence. Our current status is the elders are in charge in the pastor s absence.

3 General Duties: 1. Assist the Pastor in preaching and teaching when designated 2. Assist the Pastor in the administration of the ordinances of the church (Ordained elders only) 3. Serve as Coordinator of Worship as assigned 4. Participate in the Ministerial Training Course (to be implemented) 5. Participate in the prayer ministries on Tuesday nights, Friday nights, and services at noon day prayer 6. Participate in altar services and conduct follow-up when asked 7. Assist the pastor in sick and shut-in visitation and evangelism 8. Consistently contribute to the financial aspects of the church ministry 9. Contribute to the financial programs of the state and national church Deacons: The term diakonos or deacon denotes the service or ministration of a helper or bondservant (one who has sold himself by choice for service). His ministry is nonpreaching, but should be apt to teach. These are proven men in the faith who will serve as right hand men to the Pastor in secular and business matters of the church: conducting worship services, assisting in carrying out the ordinances of the church, and shall be knowledgeable of the doctrine of the Church of God in Christ. General Duties: Title: Chairman of Deacon Board 1. Supervise the work of the Deacon Ministry 2. Function as a member of the Executive Council and Church Council 3. Oversee the collection of public offerings 1. Oversee the collection of revenue primarily offerings 2. Oversee the transfer of collected funds to the Board of Trustees

4 3. Upon the advise of the Pastor, schedule Deacons for specific assignments (see job description for deacons) 4. Monitor the pulpit in the absence of the pastor Deacon Board: Title: Deacon Board 1. Assist the pastor and elders in the administration of the ordinances of the church such as Holy communion and Feet washing 2. Assist in collection of the church offerings when assigned 3. Support and encourage the congregation to support the Pastor and various programs he has set forth 4. Fulfill the assignment received from the Chairman of the Deacon Board 1. When designated or assigned, conduct the receipt of public offerings 2. Count monies received and transferred to the Finance Committee 3. Accept the receipt from the Finance Committee and file with the Church Secretary 4. In the absence of the pastor conduct worship services including teaching the word or designated other qualified and approved persons to do so 5. Fulfill the following duties when assigned by the Chairman of the Deacon Board a. Visit at least once a year with the families assigned to him in support of the leadership of the church b. Oversee the physical maintenance of the church including custodial services and necessary repairs c. Make visits to the sick and shut-in when assigned d. Investigate matters of legal or moral concern when assigned e. Visit with long-term absentee members when assigned

5 Deaconess: f. Participate in outreach activities and coordinate Men s Fellowship g. Participate in the services of Holy Communion according to the guidelines specified h. Assist in preparing areas of dressing of men for baptism and feet washing i. Complete the Deacon s Training Course and any additional training required by the Pastor The deaconess is an order exclusively for women in the church. Paul clearly recognizes women, but will not permit women to take authority in teachings. They shall assist deacons in carrying out the ordinances of the church. They are to be serious in the discharge of their duties, not slanders, sober-minded and faithful in all things. (I Tim 3:11) Title: Deaconess 1. Assist the deacons in the ordinances of the Holy Communion and Feet Washing 2. Assist the Pastor and deacons in hospital and shut-in visitations, especially single and widowed women 1. Keep inventory of material necessary for Holy Communion and Feet Washing 2. Keep material for the above clean and in adequate supply for each service 3. Arrange the table for Communion prior to the call to worship by the Minister 4. Clear the Communion table after the benediction 5. Participate in the serving of Communion as assigned 6. Assist the altar services by being prepared to assist in the preservation of modesty as the Spirit moves upon women in the service 7. Accompany another deaconess and a deacon in hospital or shut-in visits when assigned 8. Assist in the care and fulfillment of other needs of the shut-in such as feeding or personal care when assigned

6 9. Assist in the baptism of women by assuring that there are adequate towels and garments for the candidates 10. Pray for the total effectiveness of the ministry of the church The Executive Council: Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but the multitude of counselors they are established. (Proverbs 15:22) This council serves at the discretion of the Pastor, and shall consist of one elder, Chairman of the deacon board, and church mother. The Pastor will often call upon this council to share with them the vision that God has given him. While he is not seeking their approval, he may select to discuss certain church matters seeking the advantage of their wisdom, experience, and spiritual insight. Church Council: The deacon board, church mother, trustee board, church secretary, department heads, Heads of all lay ministries, as well as the pastor and ministers, shall comprise the Church council. This council shall have input to the administration in relation to scheduling events and the financial, as well as the spiritual needs of the areas they represent. Church Secretary: The secretary of the church is the key communications person to the congregation and community from the office of the pastor. She is responsible for sending correspondence as designated by the pastor and to file and keep accurate records on the membership. The secretary will also be the secretary of the Church council and assists the deacon ministry in receiving finances. Title: Church Secretary 1. Assist the deacons in receiving and recording all offerings and tithes 2. Serve as the secretary of the Church Council 3. Type and mail correspondence as needed 4. Sort and distribute all incoming correspondence 5. Keep accurate records on the membership and church organizations 6. Keep accurate tax deductible information on all members 1. Assist deacons in counting and recording offerings and tithes

7 2. Keep a file of receipts for the Deacon Board from the monies turned over to the Trustee Board 3. Record and keep a file of minutes of the Church Council and all church business meetings 4. Type and send letters to visitors and new converts 5. Type and send letters to the membership from the pastor as designated 6. Sort incoming mail and redistribute as directed by the pastor 7. Keep and update files on all families of the church including birth dates, names of children and or grandchildren, wedding anniversaries, etc. 8. Prepare all certificates and documents 9. Prepare reports from the Church Council or Trustee Board to the membership as needed 10. Prepare forms to report to state and national leaders 11. Keep files of requests for letters of transfer of membership 12. File all letters of transfer received 13. Prepare tax deductible contributions of the members for reporting at the end of the year 14. Identify and implement a means of accounting for cash contributions of the membership for inclusion in tax related data 15. Prepare and submit resolutions from the church for families of deceased members or deceased relatives and loved ones of the membership, obtaining approval of the Pastor as to the appropriateness of the resolution for the circumstances involved 16. Pray for the total effectiveness of the ministry of the church Trustee Board: Although the word trustee does not appear in the bible, we are reminded we are to be good stewards of that which God has blessed us. The trustee board is therefore, the ministry of caring for the management and distribution of funds. They are to hold in trust

8 legal documents of property and other business, assist the pastor in budget development and monitoring of financial matters of the church. Title: Trustee 1. Manage the general financial affairs of the church 2. Monitor and follow the church policies and procedures for finances 3. Hold in trust all legal documents of the church 4. Assist the pastor in budget development 5. Monitor and implement the budget approved by the Pastor 1. Hold in trust for the use and benefit of members of the local church property acquired 2. Hold in trust for the use and benefit of the local church any assets which shall become property of the church either by gift, deed, or otherwise, with or without legal designation 3. Receive from the pastor the parameters of the budget with suggested funds required and resubmit to him the annual budget for his approval 4. Work with other members of the Church Council to help determine the budgetary needs of the various departments and their contributions to the general budget 5. Maintain a unified budget approach to fiscal management and banking 6. Oversee the monthly budget and pay monthly expenses of the church according to the guidelines of the financial policies and procedures 7. Do not pay any expenses other than those designated without the approval of the pastor 8. Determine ways and means to supplement budget needs 9. Meet monthly with the pastor to review the finances of the church 10. Pray for the total effectiveness of the ministry of the church NOTE: The trustee board may not perform (subject to removal from the Board by the Pastor) any of the following functions:

9 1. Hire and fire any personnel in the church without approval of the pastor 2. Disclose any confidential church information or confidential information about members of their finances of the church,etc. 3. Misuse monies or otherwise intentionally violate the financial procedures as outlined Accountant and Internal Auditor: The role of an accountant is to act as an objective source (one who does not routinely do so) in maintaining accuracy of financial records. It is never meant to be construed negatively in terms of suspecting any wrongdoing. As auditor this person shall report to the Trustee Board and Pastor areas of the budget that need closer supervision. He/she is also to identify other sources of revenue not being used within the budget Title: Accountant 1. Annually review the bookkeeping procedures of the church 2. Make recommendations of budget improvement 1. Check the financial records of the Trustee Board for accuracy 2. Suggest ways to improve accounting procedures 3. Make recommendations to the board as to areas of over/under spending 4. Submit an annual certified audit report to the church 5. Prepare W-2 and other necessary tax forms for the IRS Department of Evangelism: Headed by the minister for Evangelism, this department shall consists of elders, ministers, missionaries who are members of the local church. Pending approval of the pastor, this department shall schedule revivals and crusades during the year. This department shall also work very closely with the Director of Outreach/In-reach and the director of Missions and Benevolence by participating in such activities as Street Ministry, Prison Outreach, and Nursing Home Services.

10 Title: Minister for Evangelism 1. Head the department of Evangelism including the development and supervision of its budget 2. Make assignment of duties for members of the Evangelism department 3. Schedule and plan with the pastor three revivals during the year (To be discussed) 4. In cooperation with the outreach director, conduct at least 2 street crusades during the year 5. Participate in pre-revival canvassing as designed by him and the outreach department 6. Assist the pastor and deacons in hospital shut-in visitation 7. Conduct worship services when designated by the pastor or in his absence 8. Participate as a member of the Executive council and Church Council 9. Conduct worship services when designated by the pastor or in his absence 10. Conduct the noonday worship service on Tuesdays and Fridays 11. Pray for the total effectiveness of the ministry of the church Department of Music: This department consists of all choirs, groups, ensembles, and musicians in the church. The Minister of Music shall immediate supervision of this department. It shall be prepared to minister musically at all times of service. This is to include but not limited to Friday night family worship, Sunday morning and evening, revivals, crusades, funerals, special services, etc. Title: Minister of Music 1. Develop and submit the annual budget of this ministry to the Trustee board for approval 2. Provide leadership in identifying priority goals and objectives for this ministry 3. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the annual budget

11 1. Schedule choirs to minister at designated times. This shall include but not limited to regular service times on Sunday and weeknights. Easter, revivals, crusades, etc. 2. Serve as the director for the Senior Choir (when given) or designate someone for such duty 3. Supervise the rehearsals of choirs without a director 4. Develop a repertoire of songs for a variety of types of services 5. Supervise the uniforming of all choirs 6. Remain accessible at all times during the worship service, since the Spirit of the Lord dictates the direction of the service Department of Christian Education: This department, headed by the minister of education, shall coordinate the efforts of the various educational ministries of the church including but not limited to Sunday School, Y.P.W.W., Bible Band, Purity Class, Sunshine Band, etc. Further, it shall be responsible for training of teachers and seek ways to enhance their effectiveness through workshops and seminars. This department shall also generate funds for scholarships and other Church of God in Christ ministries such as All Saints University, C.H Mason Bible College. Title: Minister of Education 1. Provide leadership for the educational ministries of the church 2. Assist the Pastor in providing leadership in the training of church workers 3. Assist organizations in preparing seminars, workshops, and other programs in the church 4. Oversee the identification of resources (speakers, material, and literature) for use by various organizations 1. Provide leadership for the development of goals and objectives for this ministry

12 2. Organize a means of training teachers in the church 3. Upon request and upon approval of the Pastor, help organizations identify speakers, media or other resources for use in the church services or programs 4. Secure the Pastor s approval of questionable material or topics for this ministry 5. Develop, implement and monitor the budget for this department 6. Identify means of supplementing the budget and obtain approval of the same Coordinator of Biblical Studies: 1. Make appropriate bible study sessions available to the church 2. Plan and schedule bible study sessions 1. Consult with the Pastor to determine study needs 2. Schedule and publicize the topics and dates of the bible study needs 3. Manage materials and media resources for study sessions 4. Store study materials with the director of media services 5. Register participants in study sessions 6. Pray for the total effectiveness of this ministry Sunday School: The Sunday School is the major teaching ministry of the local church. Designed for all ages, it will focus on various biblical topics for the spiritual growth of those who attend. It is also evangelical in its teaching of the Gospel of salvation to all who attend. It consists of a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Secretary, Treasurer, Devotional leader, and teachers. Title: Superintendent of Sunday School 1. Organize and appoint officers and teachers 2. Develop and supervise the budget of the department

13 3. Oversee the acquisition and use of material, equipment, and literature of this department 4. Serve as a member of the church council 1. Conduct or designate someone to conduct Sunday morning prayer and opening of the Sunday School 2. Assign teachers to classes 3. Supervise the distribution of literature to teachers and students 4. Supervise the collection of finances from the classes 5. Recognize both financial and learning accomplishments of classes and students 6. Make provisions for training of teachers and workers Y.P.W.W. (Young People Willing Worker): The Y.P.W.W. is both a teaching ministry and a training branch of the church, originally designed as an emphasis on the needs of the youth. It is also designed to enhance the lives of all believers. Its officers shall consist of a President, Vice President, Field Worker, Secretary, Treasurer, and teachers. Title: President 1. Organize and appoint officers and teachers 2. Develop and supervise the budget of the department 3. Oversee the acquisition and use of material, equipment, and literature of this department 4. Serve as a member of the Church Council 1. Conduct or designate someone to conduct the opening of the service 2. Assign teachers to the classes

14 3. Supervise the distribution of literature to teachers and students 4. Supervise the collection of finances from the classes 5. Recognize both financial and learning accomplishments of classes and students 6. Make provisions for training of teachers and workers The Ministers Wives Circle The ministers wives circle is an organized group of wives of elders and ministers. They teach and learn to have patience, endurance, forbearance and a heart full of love, mercy and understanding for everyone. Additionally, they are helpers, counselors and examples for women church members. According to the Church of God in Christ Handbook for women (1994) they should be: A lover of her husband and the people Versatile in her views of living and able to make major decisions Able to quickly observe a matter discreetly and yet maintain an even balance A woman whose apparel is smart, but simple as she will most likely set the pace for the women of her congregation A woman whom the congregation will appreciate in the parsonage for her dignity, courtesy and her love for God A source of inspiration and great influence in her husband s life A right spirit and wisdom in dealing with the people and working in the church or she will become discouraged, discourage the pastor and hinder the church program General Duties: Through special programs, talks, and meetings the minister s wife can benefit from the experience of other ministers wives. The minister s wives should work closely with the district missionaries and state supervisor by keeping their husbands informed of women s programs. The ministers wives circle should serve as special aids to the supervisor during the conventions and on special days form a ministers wives choir or sing with the women s chorus.

15 Specific Duties: 1. Meet with the president of the ministers wives circle at least monthly for teaching and training 2. Work with the local church and its program, being subject to the pastor and his vision. His word is the last word as to what is permissible in the church 3. Find your place alongside your husband in ministry. This is to say, when the minister husband receives an assignment or position from the pastor, the wife of that minister is also called alongside him for supportive ministry. Missionary Circle The missionary circle consists of a group of missionaries in all categories: (1) Aspiring, (2) Deaconess, (3) Evangelists with all categories operating a unique program locally. Visiting the sick, administering to the needs of the poor, reaching unsaved family members and others, and conducting bible-training classes. The local missionary should work with the district missionary. All missionaries have an obligation to their local church and must be members in good standing with the pastor, church mother, other officers and members. She is not exempt from financial obligations to her local, district, state and national work. Aspiring Missionary An aspiring missionary is a woman aged 21 years and over who feels a special call of God. Her life must reflect a Godly image. She must be concerned about the work in prayer, teaching, soul-winning, etc., feeling the inner call to the service of God. It is recommended that an aspiring missionary be observed for at least 2 years before being recommended for license. If she proves faithful, she is then eligible for recommendation by her pastor to the jurisdictional supervisor for license. She must be examined by the Women s Department Board of Examiners. If she passes the examination, she will receive the evangelist missionary license. A certificate is available for the aspiring missionary. The certificate should carry the signature of the pastor and church mother. Deaconess Missionary The deaconess missionary is a licensed missionary whose activities are within the confines of her local church. However, if she is invited to serve outside the confines of her local church, she may do so with the permission of her pastor, but she must be accompanied by her church mother or a qualified missionary. Otherwise her duties are described elsewhere in this book as a Deaconess.

16 After 2 years at this level she may be recommended by her pastor for the evangelist license. An earlier promotion may be warranted in some cases. The Evangelist Missionary The evangelist missionary is a licensed missionary whose credentials are recognized in hospitals and institutions as a bona fide Christian ministry. Therefore, the evangelist missionary must study the word of God as her rule of faith and practice. She is to seek knowledge from God and training through the leadership of the circle, bible college classes, etc. An evangelist missionary must serve her local church and help build the work of God in the Women s department, which will enhance the general work. Unit President The president of the missionaries circle shall be appointed by the pastor. She shall be responsible for assisting the pastor in training of aspiring and deaconess missionaries and the continuing education of others. She shall make assignments to members as directed or allowed by the pastor. Department of Youth Ministries The purity class, Sunshine Band, and trailblazers and the youth department shall comprise the Department of Youth Ministries. The coordinator shall be responsible for working with the leaders of these organizations to identify and schedule appropriate ministerial and fellowship activities. These activities shall be approved by the pastor prior to implementation. Title: Youth Leader 1. Oversee the budget and entire operation of the Youth ministry 2. Take charge of the pulpit during times of this ministry 3. Identify resources and topics for ministry Specific Assignments 1. Attend or designate deacon to attend all youth services 2. Provide leadership in the identification of goals and objectives for this ministry 3. Supervise the work of other workers of this ministry, including the purity class, sunshine band, and the trail blazers

17 4. Teach and proclaim the gospel or designate a minister who has been approved by the pastor to do so 5. Develop and implement a Sunday night service for children 10 years old and below (in the future) 6. Submit said schedule to pastor for approval and quarterly reevaluation 7. Make certain that all youth services minister. No idle baby sitting allowed Coordinator of Youth Ministries 1. Identify appropriate means of ministering to youth 2. Identify appropriate means of youth fellowship 1. Offer suggestions to the youth ministry supervisor for a variety ways to minister to the youth 2. Plan and schedule coordinated youth fellowship activities 3. Plan and schedule coordinated youth fellowship activities 4. Pray for the total effectiveness of the ministry of the church President of Women s Ministries: This department consists of its president, the church mother, and the mother s board. It also includes all auxiliaries with ministries related to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of women. It shall be responsible for identifying such needs and periodically conducting such activities as seminars, workshops, retreats, est., for women of all ages. It shall be responsible for conducting the annual local women s convention to support this ministry and fulfill its mission. Title President of Women s Ministries: 1. Work with the pastor in determining the direction of ministries for women 2. Monitor the fulfillment of goals and objectives of women s ministries 3. Oversee the budget of the department

18 Specific assignments: 1. Plan and schedule appropriate seminars and workshops for women during the year 2. Plan, schedule, and conduct the annual women s convention 3. Meet with members of auxiliaries for women and determine their interests and needs for ministry 4. Identify and get approval of the pastor for speakers and material to use in ministering to women 5. Identify and make job descriptions for all workers in this department 6. Serve as an adviser to presidents of women s auxiliaries 7. Identify means of meeting the needs of the non-church women in the community 8. Pray for the total effectiveness of the ministry of the church Mother s Board: This board shall consist of women who are willing to commit themselves to diligent and vigilant intercessory prayers for the pastor and the church. For James said, the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16) They are handpicked by the pastor through the guidance of God and the Holy Ghost to assist the church mother in supporting with their prayers and by their actions the entire Department of Women s Ministries. Title: Mother s Board 1. Pray daily for the total effectiveness of the ministry of the church 2. Assist in the planning of the annual women s convention 3. Attend and/or participate in the Annual women s convention Sewing Circle The sewing circle is one of the original auxiliaries of the church. It has served well in training women to use their hands in sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc. Many hidden talents have been discovered and it has served to help women to become better homemakers. Our highly mechanized society and work for women have caused many things to take place from the lack of great work of the Sewing circle.

19 This organization helps contribute to the help of the women involved and it has served as a great assistance to the local church. No Women s Day is complete without the display of the work of the Sewing Circle. A well organized and active circle is ideal for concentration, relaxation, and unification of women. The organization consists of: President, vice-president, secretary, treasure, chaplain. The president should be one who has knowledge of sewing or who delegate s duties to an instructor who can sew and knows the arts of handwork. Where there are other interests in other art fields, these may be added to the circle. After materials to work with are purchased the proceeds should go to the church. Bible Band: This is the oldest auxiliary in the department of women. It has as its purpose to train women to know their bibles that they may become acquainted with the word of God and help lead others to right and righteousness. The principal objectives are that Christ be in the hearts of God s creation, his people, and that our testimonies and attitudes will always be Christ honoring. The organization of the bible band shall be president, vice-president, secretary, teacher, and treasurer. President: 1. Organize and appoint officers and teachers 2. Supervise the distribution of literature to teachers and students 3. Supervise the collection of finances from the classes 4. Train in cooperation with the church mother, women to: a. Love their husband and children and to care for them God s way b. How to work in the church and retain their femininity at all times Y.W.C.C. (Young Women s Christian Council):

20 The Young Women s Christian Council (Y.W.C.C.) exists to fulfill three major functions with the Church of God in Christ. First, to get young women into the word of God, apply those bible truths to their lives, thereby enabling them to live victoriously through Christ. We receive this mandate with praise and thanksgiving as it will afford us the opportunity to be that living epistle, read of men being empowered by the Holy Spirit to impact lives in our homes, or communities and our churches. Second, to promote Christian fellowship, which does not encompass just eating and socializing together, but sharing in a partnership with each other in Christ. As we are partners in the life and work of Christ, we acknowledge the need to share our lives with one another on a personal level. Third to instruct, develop and assist young women in outreach and evangelism, as we are committed to active ministry both internally and externally for the sanctifying, unifying, and edifying of the body of Christ to the glory of God. Objectives: 1. The Y.W.C.C. will become familiar with the basic doctrine, principles, and practices of the Church of God in Christ with scripture references; and be encouraged to spend quality time studying and practicing God s Word, with regular fast days, being consistent and persistent in prayer. 2. The young women will be knowledgeable of the steps of soul winning with scriptural references. 3. Y.W.C.C. shall offer support, counseling and prayer to single and/or divorced young women in every area of their lives. 4. To inspire and encourage young women to reaffirm their commitment to Christ. 5. The Y.W.C.C. will provide classes to inform and update members of their responsibility in the home, church and community. Occasionally, conduct open forums to be monitored by designated persons 6. As the Y.W.C.C. holds family relationships in high esteem, this unit will provide members with resources to help strengthen the family. We will present workshops and retreats, as well as current Christian literature and audio visual aides for improving the family relations 7. This unit shall advocate living a Spirit controlled life which will enable young women to triumph in spiritual warfare 8. To admonish young women to adhere to and uphold the traditions and customs of this church which are part of our heritage 9. To encourage young women to live a well balanced life which includes personal recreational time

21 Title: President Y.W.C.C. 1. A Y.W.C.C. leader is one who is dedicated and consecrated to the work of the Lord 2. A Y.W.C.C. leader keeps up-to-date with current practices and methods of regular bible study. By living sanctified, her life is a mirror that reflects the image of Christ. Other days to be included The purity class is composed of boys and girls between the ages of The primary objective of this unit is to train youth leaders and promote Christian standards in the lives of young people. Members of this class are called puritans and their leader is referred to as the purity lady. Their meetings should consist of the following: A. Devotion: This portion should begin with a song, prayer, scripture and end with a song B. Business: This includes the reading of the minutes from the previous meeting, followed by reports from committee chairman. Plans for the next meeting should be planned in advance. It is important to have a variety of activities for each meeting C. Committees: These should include the following: Membership, absentee, sick, hobby, social, finance, and devotion D. Curriculum: The content of the class meeting should be relevant to the needs of this age group. Although purity topics are available, leaders

Serve as a member of the church council 1. Coordinate the efforts of this ministry with the department youth ministries 2. Plan and schedule the teaching of relevant topics on the designated youth ministry night 3. Provide leadership in securing and training other workers in this ministry 4. Include in the annual budget any and all district or state dues to be collected Trail Blazers: This unit is designed for a more mature group of young people namely ages 16 and above. Organized much like the purity class, it should consist of such activities as dramatic club, discussion sessions on contemporary problems such as sex and sexuality, career development, budgeting, financial investments, etc (See ministry of the purity class for organization of this ministry) Sunshine Band: The sunshine band offers a great challenge for the women of the church to deal with the formative years of children from the ages of five to twelve. Many physical, mental, and spiritual changes are evident, from the losing of teeth to the entrance of adolescence. By the time the child is twelve, he has already decided that he/she will or will not accept Christ. The Lord Jesus is to be made attractive in every way: in music, games, worship, etc. No investment is too great to give to our children the true meaning of the creator and His personage and bodily representation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Title: Big Sister Sunshine 1. Provide leadership in the organization of this unit

Pray for the total effectiveness of all ministries within the church Pastor s Aide: This special unit seeks to assist the first family in meeting their many needs as they are called upon to perform in service to the church. In other words, they are to seek ways to relieve some of the burdens confronting our pastor and his family. Additionally, they are to seeks ways to assist the pastor in fulfilling his clergical duties by seeing that his special attire is in adequate supply and condition for such service. Title: President 1. Provide leadership in identifying the goals and objectives for this group 2. Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and management of the budget of this unit 3. Consult with the pastor annually to determine the type of assistance needed for clergical supplies 1. Provide water and juice for the pastor after he ministers 2. Keep the pastor s clergical robes clean and in good repair (The sewing circle may assist in this matter)

25 3. Keep handkerchief clean, pressed and available in the pulpit area 4. Keep the are clean and free of litter, etc Usher Board: The Usher board is composed of those dedicated to order in the House of the Lord. This ministry is designed to portray the love that Christ has for all mankind through rendering service to visitors and the congregation. Its organization shall consist of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and chaplain. Title: President 1. Provide leadership in the organization of this unit 2. Provide leadership in the identification of goals and objectives of this unit 3. Provide leadership in the development, implementation and management of the budget of this unit 4. Serve as a member of the Church Council 1. Teach all workers to work with greeters ministry, specifically in seating guests after greeters have met them at the door 2. Also in cooperation with greeters, teach all workers to retrieve visitor information cards and return them to the announcer as quickly as possible during the service; and for late arrivals, retrieve the visitor information cards and return them to the church secretary 3. Provide leadership in securing and training other workers in this ministry 4. Include in the annual budget any and all district or state dues to be reported 5. Pray for the total effectiveness of all ministries with the church Benevolence: This part of the department shall consist of Home and Foreign Mission, Outreach Missions, Hospital Intercessory Missions and the Benevolence committee. They shall coordinate their efforts to seek ways to serve the needs of mankind wherever and however possible.

26 1. Develop and submit the annual budget of this ministry to the trustee board for approval 2. Provide leadership in identifying priority goals and objectives for this ministry 1. Establish procedures for collecting, storing, distributing food, clothing, etc 2. Keep records of all activities and report to the administration when requested 3. Make all district and state reports as designated and approved by the pastor for the Home and Foreign Mission Unit 4. Identify persons in the church who have been ill or need and report to the Chairman of ministry or pastor. Allocate a love donation for distribution through the director of benevolence 5. Send flowers and/or cards to hospitalized or sick members and immediate relatives 6. Schedule visits of the hospital intercessory committee consisting of deacons, deaconess, and/other designated by the pastor 7. Identify lay ministries that wish to contribute to, Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for the needy and elderly members of the church 8. Select from the tape ministry catalogue tapes to distribute to the sick and shut-in along with tape player/cd player if needed for circulation 9. Distribute tracts and other literature on healing and deliverance Screening Committee for Financial Assistance: 1. Identify and utilize other agencies as primary means of assistance 2. Limit financial assistance to twice annually according to the following procedures: a. The applicant must fill out our respond to the application form b. If approved, any combination of vouchers, can goods, or cash may be given (by check only)

27 c. The committee will decide the amount the department can provide d. For payment of utilities, the department will make arrangements directly with the utility company, if approved e. No funds will be disbursed to persons receiving adequate assistance from other agencies f. The department will identify stores who will issue vouchers to be paid by the department with a $50.00 limit Pastor s Action Group (PAG) The Faith Deliverance Pastor s Action Group (PAG) provided a direct support to the pastor, and church mother. The PAG assists the pastor and his staff on local issues, church-wide operations and the national church actions. In addition, the PAG helps formulated and articulate the pastor s messages to the national church, state bishop, district workers, pastors, lay members and wherever the need arise. The PAG also prepares the pastor for broad events such as Memphis, state meetings, district meetings, conference, and other church related items. The PAG is also responsible for the preparation and execution of the pastor and church mother conferences, meetings, special sessions, involving all elders, ministers, missionaries, deacons, and band leaders. The PAG assists the pastor in presentations to the various civil, industrial and church audiences nation-wide. All of these tasking are administrative in nature. In addition, help develop a database of the church membership s special talent and skills that could be utilized. Build files of different programs in the community for those in need of assistance beyond the local church s responsibilities. Compile a listing of special days of the body; birthdays, anniversaries, develop appointment letters for all church positions. Additional Tasking: A willingness and eagerness to set up an administrative office to compile the appropriate correspondence that will be needed to assist the pastoral leadership of Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ. Set up meetings, set up refreshments, maintain office supplies, update calendars, provide inputs for the church bulletin, devise and design templates for various administrative needs. Department of Outreach/In-Reach This division shall consist of prospect visitation as well as in-reach activities with present members. It shall operate under the supervision of pastor and consist of the following ministries: Tape Distribution Tract Ministry Bus Ministry Men s Fellowship Street Ministry Telephone/Prayer/Internet Job Description:

28 Title: Outreach Ministry 1. Total management of the department, including the use of funds 2. Communicate with the pastor regarding the operation and activities of this department 3. Develop and submit the annual budget of the department to the Trustee Board for approval 4. Provide leadership in goal setting for this department 1. Oversee the collection of all quantitative reports from all units of this department 2. Make quantitative reports semiannually 3. Provide leadership in the ongoing training for areas in need of new workers or to update training of current workers 4. Develop job descriptions for all unit coordinators of this department 5. Oversee the review of all material for publication from this department before it is released to the media or the general church body 6. Oversee the inventory of all material and equipment purchased 7. Pray for the total effectiveness of the ministry of the church Men s Fellowship Ministry: Under the direction of the Director of Outreach, the unit coordinator for Men s Fellowship Ministry will be responsible for the following: 1. The total management of this unit 2. The development and submittal of an annual unit budget to the Director of Outreach 3. To work with the designated budget unless otherwise permitted to raise additional funds 4. The recruitment and orientation of workers for the unit

29 5. The compiling and submitting of a quarterly qualitative and quantitative unit report to the Director of Outreach or his/her designee 6. The collection of quantitative/qualitative reports from all workers in the unit 7. The conducting of ongoing training for workers within the unit 8. Reviewing all material for publication and obtaining approval of the Outreach Director before release to the media or the general church body 9. The development of job descriptions for all workers in the unit 10. Keeping an accurate inventory of material/equipment purchased for one unit 11. Pray for the total effectiveness of this ministry 1. Oversee the scheduling of the fellowship breakfast monthly including the selection of a speaker or program 2. Organize other workers for this unit including but not limited to cooks, programs chairman, treasurer, chaplain, and secretary 3. Oversee the collection and use of all funds 4.
