We pray for the Province of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui (Anglican Province of Hong Kong & Macau); for Paul, our archbishop and primate; and for all bishops, priests and deacons within our diocese and province. We pray within the Diocese for the Morrison Chapel, Macau and the Revd Stephen Durie; For the Morrison Chapel and Macau Anglican College congregations - for God to bring Christian families and leaders to help build the church; For the growth of both the services at 9.00am and 11.00am; For the growth and blessing of the Music Teams, Sunday School, Youth Fellowship, Filipino Fellowship, Choir, and all the members and leaders; For unchurched newcomers to be converted, baptised, and confirmed; For the teaching of RE at Macau Anglican College and for students to come to faith in Christ, join the Youth group and Church, and come to Baptism and commitment. WATCHNIGHT EUCHARIST A service to welcome in the New Year Saturday 31 st December: New Year s Eve 11.00pm May the presence of the Holy Child of Bethlehem fill your hearts and homes with joy this festive season. 2nd ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE Thank you to all who contributed to our 2 nd Annual Food Drive. This year we collected 402 kgs of food! (a meal for 968 people). A wonderful increase on the 155 kgs collected last year. As we prepare for our own Christmas celebrations, it is important that we remember, and help, those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Thank you for helping to feed the poor and hungry! A PRAYER FOR THE NEW YEAR A short prayer that can be used, wherever you may be, at Midnight on New Year s Eve. Eternal Father, you have placed us in a world of space and time, and through the events of our lives you bless us with your love. Grant that in this New Year 2017 we may know your presence, see your love at work, and live in the light of the your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. It s a wonderful and exciting story, greatly enriching our Christian faith and understanding. Monday evenings pm in the Harold Smyth Room, starting 9 th January DRAWING EXHIBITION 2016 jointly presented by KeenAble Creation and The Nest We present a series of creative drawings based on the Cathedral s new stained-glass windows created by KeenAble Creation artists. 6 NOTICES GARDEN OF REMEMBRANCE Did you know that the Celtic Cross outside the Cathedral is actually is a war memorial in memory of those who died in the two world wars? The garden itself, which contains the grave of Private Maxwell, is also an officially designated war grave. Access to the garden will now be restricted so that it can be kept as a place of remembrance and treated with the respect it deserves. We will remember them! Somehow I realized that songs, music, good feelings, beautiful liturgies, nice presents, big dinners, and many sweet words do not make Christmas. Christmas is saying yes to a hope based on God s initiative, which has nothing to do with what I think or feel. Christmas is believing that the salvation of the world is God s work and not mine. Things will never look just right or feel just right. If they did, someone would be lying.... But it is into this broken world that a child is born who is called Son of the Most High, Prince of Peace, Saviour. Fr Henri Nouwen 6
