1 J. CARL LANEY, Th.D. Professor of Biblical Literature Address 5511 S.W. Hawthorne Blvd. Portland, OR USA Contact Information Office Phone: FAX Personal Background J. Carl Laney was born in Dublin, Georgia, the first child of Carl and Clyde Laney. He grew up in Eugene, Oregon where he met Nancy Lilly at the University. Carl and Nancy have four children, John, Elisabeth, Laura and David. Spiritual Background Carl trusted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior under the ministry of Dr. Vance Webster, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Eugene. It was during his days at the University of Oregon that Carl sensed God's leading into full-time Christian service. After training at Western Seminary and Dallas Theological Seminary, he was ordained to the Gospel Ministry on May 11, 1975 by Scofield Memorial Church in Dallas, Texas. Personal Interests Carl enjoys out of door activities including camping, hiking, fishing, skiing, running and gardening. His latest project is restoring a 1944 Ford GPW--a military jeep. He also likes to do research into his Laney family history. He has written several family biographies, In Memory of Otis, In Memory of the Montana Kid, and The O. L. Chivers Family of Dublin, Geogia. He is a "family" man and enjoys spending time with his wife, Nancy, his children and six grandchildren. Educational Backqround South Eugene High School: Diploma
