WE GATHER TO WORSHIP GOD Prelude How Can I Keep from Singing? arr. Smith Greeting, Welcome, and Opportunities for Discipleship Welcome visitors! If you feel comfortable, please introduce yourself at this time. We are glad you are here. We hope you will fill out the friendship pad in the pew holder to help us get acquainted. Everyone please silence your cell phones. Call to Worship Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before God with thanksgiving and extol the Lord with music and song. Invocation *Hymn 267 Come, Christians, Join to Sing (Please pass Joys and Concerns to center aisle to be collected during the singing of the hymn.) *Call to Confession Hymn 415 (vs. 1) Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy *Prayer of Confession Hymn 444 Forgive Our Sins as We Forgive *Silent Confession (A time for personal confession of sin) *Assurance of Forgiveness Hear the good news! God loves us. God forgives us. *Response Halle, Halle, Halle-luja! Halle, Halle, Halle-luja! Halle, Halle, Halle-luja! Halleluja! Halleluja! Hymn 591 (Refrain) *Passing of the Peace Having received Christ s peace, let us share it by turning to our neighbors and greeting them, saying May the peace of Christ be with you!

WE HEAR THE WORD OF GOD Prayer for Illumination Scripture Reading Matthew 10:24-39 p.10 Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. Thanks be to God. Hymn 726 The Summons (vss. 1 & 2) Sermon Cross Bearing Rev. William T. Hennessy Hymn 726 The Summons (vss. 3, 4, & 5) WE RESPOND AND GIVE THANKS TO GOD *Affirmation of Faith In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. A Brief Statement of Faith Prayers of the People Offering This morning you are invited to bring your gifts forward as we sing Hymn 853, We Are Marching in the Light of God. *Prayer of Thanksgiving and The Lord s Prayer The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

*Charge It is right to give our thanks and praise. and now we pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. *Benediction WE DISPERSE TO SERVE GOD IN THE WORLD *Recessional Hymn 742 We Will Walk with God (Please continue to sing as you exit the sanctuary.) We will walk with God, my brothers; we will walk with God. We will walk with God, my sisters; we will walk with God. We will go rejoicing till the kingdom has come. We will go rejoicing till the kingdom has come. *Those who are able, please stand.

Celebrate the Installation of Rev. Rami Al Maqdasi TODAY! You re invited to Rami s installation as pastor of First United Presbyterian Church, 19 W 4 th St., Dunkirk, today at 3:00 p.m. There will be a reception following. (Printed directions are available in the church office.) Thank You: Celebrating Youth Offering On June 4 we received the Celebrating Youth offering. Thank you for your generous contributions of $1,332! The ENERGY program for children in grades 1-6 meets at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Buffalo. Most of the children are from refugee families. The children receive a home-cooked meal, help with homework, tutoring, and love from a volunteer mentor. FLY, for middle school refugee students, is housed at Lafayette High School. Participants receive homework help, instruction in English, and tutoring in a setting that also helps them to adjust to life in a new country with a new language. Veterans Mission Project: Will You Help us Double Our Giving from Last Year? So far we have received just under $700 for the Veterans Mission Project. We are collecting through Independence Day. The project supports Willow Lodge on 9A, a 20-bed Community Living Center that focuses on hospice/palliative care and rehabilitation at the VA Hospital. Last year we raised $800; will you help us double our giving this year? (See insert) Our generosity helps the recreational therapist purchase treats spontaneously for the veterans, such as Tim Horton s coffee and donuts or pizza, as the need arises. We will be collecting monetary donations with which we will purchase gift cards for these items from Wegmans, Bocce Pizza, and Tim Horton s to brighten the day for our service men and women in Willow Lodge. There will be a Mission Committee representative with a veteran in the narthex after services on six Sundays to receive donations. Just look for the red, white, and blue. (If you write a check to North Church, please write Veterans Project on the memo line.) Read more about the veterans on pages 5 and 6 in the newsletter:

From the Sunday School Administrator Our Sunday school program had a successful year. Students were fully engaged in learning from the Holy Bible. They have grown spiritually and fellowship wise. I would like to thank everyone at NPC for all of your loving support. Kimberly Will Join Sarah Circle on a Mission Project with Harvest House Bottles for Babies helps more than 5,800 children in our community. Beginning in mid-june there will be bottles available for you to take and fill with loose change and bring back to church by the beginning of November. Peace Pole Flower Pots Wanted: peace pole flowering containers to join one at the peace pole (formerly the labyrinth). Originally the plan was to plant a garden around the peace pole, but the deer and the need for constant care makes this idea not feasible at this time. Dress-a-Girl Seamstresses, doll makers, ironers, cutters, and runners: come sew with us! We'll be meeting in Westminster Hall Monday, June 26, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Stay for the whole time or for as long as you can. Please bring a salad ingredient for our build-a-salad supper.
