Hoffmann ( ) studied in Mainz before entering graduate theological study at the University of Heidelberg, where he obtained a doctorate under Hans von Campenhausen (1960). Hoffmann was an elder in the German Methodist Church and served churches in the Karlsruhe district, including the German Methodist Church of Heidelberg. In 1960, he was invited to join the faculty of the Candler School of Theology, Emory University, where he taught church history and historical theology#until retirement in In addition, Rev. Dr. Hoffmann served as Theologian-in-Residence at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta during his time at Candler. Scope and Content Note This collection is comprised of essays, lectures, and publications of Rev. Dr. Hoffmann and his colleagues at Emory University. It includes lectures from seminars and courses, published and unpublished essays, as well as an edited copy of his dissertation: Der Dialog bei den christlichen Schriftstellern der ersten vier Jahrhunderte. The collection also includes an assortment of Zinnfiguren (pewter figurines) painted by Klaus J. Hoffmann, Dr. Hoffmann s brother as well as trading cards from church history.
