4 Comforter Advocate - Helper And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn t looking for him and doesn t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. John 14:16-17 NLT

5 The Holy Spirit is a Person We picture Him as fire, water, dove or eagle. He is not an it, but a person. He wants to be your best friend. He is always so encouraging. He is the most gracious, kind, loving, patient, caring, merciful, person that I have ever known. He is our helper, advocate, comforter. He leads and guides into all truth. He is our teacher. He lives within the believer. He is God: Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient. His number one priority is to make you more like Jesus.

6 Holy Spirit Convicts And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God s righteousness, and of the coming judgment. The world s sin is that it refuses to believe in me. Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged. John 16:8-11 NLT Sin Righteousness Judgment The devil condemns, The Holy Spirit convicts.

7 He Gives Power Love Fruit -Gifts Power But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth Acts 1:8 Love For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. Romans 5:5

8 He Gives Power Love Fruit -Gifts Fruit But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:25 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Romans 5:10 Gifts: There are many different gifts of the Holy Spirit.

9 Friendship with the Holy Spirit He is not crazy, weird, bizarre, or strange. He is the most amazing person I have ever met. He wants to speak to you all throughout your day. Prayer is a dialog not a monolog. He speaks through His Word and His Voice. He speaks through thoughts and impressions. He speaks through other people. He speaks through gifts of the Spirit. He speaks to us in numerous different ways. He is always teaching us how to follow, glorify, honor and obey Jesus.

11 Pentecost And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Acts 1:4-5 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Luke 24:49 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4

12 Jesus depended upon the Holy Spirit Jesus had the Spirit without measure The Holy Spirit rested and remained upon Him And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. John 1:32-22 God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Acts 10:38

13 Disciples released the Holy Spirit to others And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Matthew 10:7-8 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. Acts 3:4-8

14 The Holy Spirits Presence strong upon Apostles Yet more and more people believed and were brought to the Lord crowds of both men and women. As a result of the apostles work, sick people were brought out into the streets on beds and mats so that Peter s shadow might fall across some of them as he went by. Crowds came from the villages around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those possessed by evil spirits, and they were all healed. Acts 5:14-16 God gave Paul the power to perform unusual miracles. When handkerchiefs or aprons that had merely touched his skin were placed on sick people, they were healed of their diseases, and evil spirits were expelled. Acts 19:11-12

15 Have you been Baptized in the Holy Spirit Maybe you are saved, but never been immersed in the Holy Spirit. Maybe you once had this experience, but have grown cold in your relationship with God. Maybe you just need a re-filling of the Spirit. Don t fear tongues, gifts or manifestations. He is here to help you not to hurt you. Receiving the Holy Spirit is like liquid love being poured into your soul and sometimes it feels like fire burning in your heart. You may not feel anything at first, just believe and receive.
