3 *Sharing the Peace of CHRIST Please greet those worshipping near you. CHILDREN S MESSAGE Tricia Lindley #191 United Methodist Hymnal - Jesus Loves Me Jesus loves me! This I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to him belong; they are weak, but he is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so. As the congregation sings, all children are invited to come forward. I Am a Child of God I am a child of God; You are God s child, it s true. Children of God are called to love one another, as Jesus taught to do. As the congregation sings, the children may go to Children's Church in the Chapel. Our Mission & Common life We thank God for these opportunities for fellowship, for worship, and for service. Thanks be to God! Rev. Robert English The gospel Psalm 27 CEB Listen and you will live. Thanks be to God! We Hear God s Word Leslie Nordby anthem The Chancel Choir/Dr. James Smith, Music Director Come Thou Fount (arr. Craig Courtney) Come, thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace; streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I m fiexed upon it, mount of Thy redeeming love. Here I raise mine Ebenezer; hither by Thy help I m come; and I hope, by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood. O to grace how great a debtor daily I m constrained to be! Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wand ring heart to thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love; here s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above. The lesson I Peter 2:9-10 (Pew Bible page 233, N.T.) Listen and you will live. Thanks be to God! sermon "Streams of Mercy: The Fullness of Mercy" Rev. Patricia Farris We respond Invitation to Prayer UMH pages O Lamb of God listening for the voice of GOD Rev. English

4 SILENt prayer & Prayers of Intercession Response: Lord, have mercy. The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Choral response We Offer Our Gifts & Ourselves Your generous gifts support the ministries and outreach of the church. You may place gifts of cash or checks made out to First UMC in the offering plates as they are passed. You may also place your Let's Connect card in the offering plate. Give online at any time at or by using the QR code in the insert. Thank you. May God grow in us generous and joyful hearts. THE OFFERTORY The Chancel Choir God So Loved The World (Carl J. Nygard, Jr.) God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that everyone who would believe in His only Son shall have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but God so loved the world that through His Son the world might be saved. *Response #95 UMH The Doxology *Unison Prayer of Dedication Rev. English O God, you who reveal your power above all in your mercy and forgiveness, open up for us the treasures of your mercy. Continue to fill us with your gifts of love, that we may share in the eternal life you promise and in the joys of your kingdom. Amen. We go forth to serve *hymn #2012 The Faith We Sing Let Us with a Joyful Mind *BENEDICTION *Benediction response Postlude Litanies (Jehan Alain) Ty Woodward Worship concludes with the Postlude music which prepares us to transition from worship to life in the world. 6 F O C U S O N children s church February 21, 2016 tricia Lindley, Director of Children & Youth Ministry On every third Sunday of the month, the children of First UMC in Kindergarten through 5th grade gather for song and movement as we explore what the heart of worship is all about. Children s Church is a space for children to learn about God and God s loving activity in the world through music and movement, with the leadership of Janet Searfoss. Children s Church gives children the opportunity to learn about music and singing in a creative and fun new way, and then to share their gifts and music with the congregation on designated Sundays throughout the year. Most recently, the children and youth worshipped and sang during the Family Christmas Eve service. We now look forward to hearing our children sing on Palm Sunday!
