Read the following goals. Make a commitment to achieve these goals as you look deeply into understanding: Who is the God of the Holy Bible? 1. Much of this information is very technical and will challenge your mind as you see terms that are in the world of science. Let me remind you to refer to the footnotes that are listed at the bottom of each page. For example: The term evolutionism listed on page 153 with a footnote number 233. The definition is listed at the bottom of page 153. Footnote 233. Evolutionism is the belief that the physical world organized itself through natural law and process without intervention by a transcendent God. Wise, Kurt P. Faith, Form, and Time, p Scripture: When scripture is referred to in the text the author gives the reference in the footnote. Many times the verse is listed completely in the footnote. For example: On page 169, the first sentence at the top of the page reads: However, the Bible says that God is trustworthy and that God does not lie In the footnote numbered 279, the scripture verse and reference is listed: 279. 16 Chapter 5: What has God Done? What is God Doing? What Will God Do? Based on Pages in Book Study Guide Chapter 5 is divided into the following sections: What has God Done? Scripture verses on: God is the Creator- pages What is God Doing? Scripture verses on: God is the Sustainer pages What Will God Do? Scripture verses on: God is the Redeemer pages What is God Doing Now? Pages Throughout the Old Testament and the New Testament, numerous scripture verses include information on these three topics: God is the Creator, God is the Sustainer, and God is the Redeemer. Listed in chapter 5 are one hundred twenty-seven scripture verses. These verses only represent a sample of the vast number of verses that cover information on what God has done, is doing, and will do. The format for this study is listed below. Read carefully and slowly all the verses listed under each topic. As you read each section keep your mind focused on that specific topic as you read the verses. 1. Section 1: God is the Creator and Section 2: God is the Sustainer Read the scripture verses listed under each section. First reading of the verses: highlight the action verb with a yellow pencil/highlighter Second reading of the verses: highlight the activity using a red color pencil and underline the word(s) that describes the activity. For example: God is the Creator In the beginning God created the heavens and earth. Genesis 1:1 God is the Sustainer I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. Genesis 9:11 After going through each section, reflect on your views. How do these verses give you assurance that God is the Creator and God is the Sustainer? 16

Section 3: God is the Redeemer In the section, God is the Redeemer, notice the pattern of God s wrath and judgment on evil; however, he provides a plan to redeem man from his evil ways and the evil one. Highlight the action words that describe God s wrath and judgment. Underline phrases that describe how he redeems man from his sinful ways. God is the Redeemer And the Lord said, I will destroy man who I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, the fowl of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. Genesis 6:7 For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us. Isaiah 33:22 3. Section 4: What is God of the Bible doing now? What are some examples of what God of the Bible is doing now? What is Jesus doing now? What choice does God allow man to have? What choice have you made? If you are unsure, please read chapter 8: The Four R s That Return Us to God. This chapter outlines the steps of what it means to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. You will learn how to have your sins forgiven and become a Christian. The information in this chapter will also give you information on how to share your beliefs with others.
