2 As we celebrate se fifty years as priests Archdiocese Boston we pause to give thanks. We give thanks in a special way to our family, our parents Matt and Karine Butler, our brors, Charlie and Matt, and sister, Mary, nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws, aunts and uncles: it is especially fitting that we celebrate today February 5th for in years past aunts (Anna, Bessie and Carry) would gar clan this day to celebrate birthdays our grand-uncle, Fr. John, (Feb. 5) and uncle, Fr Tom Butler SJ (February 6). We are grateful to all who have supported us along way: neighbors and friends old in West Roxbury and Belmont; classmates and faculty at Randall Morris School, Boston Latin School, Holy Cross, Cardinal O Connell Seminary, St. John Seminary, BC School Social Work, Catholic University America, and Boston University. Appreciated, also, is experience a shared home with fellow priests in Sanbornton NH and experiences with neighbors in Newburyport. Parishioners and colleagues at so many parishes deserve special thanks: St. Mary, Scituate, St. Philip, Roxbury, St. Mary, Foxboro, Blessed Sacrament, Cambridge, St. Patrick, Stoneham, Sacred Heart, Newton, Our Lady Sorrows, Sharon, St. Athanasius, Reading, Holy Family, Rockland, Immaculate Conception, Cambridge, St. Mary, Hull, Sacred Heart, Lexington, St. Joseph, Pepperell, St. Lawrence, Chestnut Hill, St. Timothy, Norwood, and St. Isidore, Stow. Fourteen years at Family Counseling and Guidance provided opportunity to serve and in turn to be served by so many for which thanks are fered for colleagues and staff. The Liturgical Movement graced us along way at many levels: Boston Sacramental Apostolate, Liturgical Commission and Office For Worship, New England Liturgy Committee, national Liturgical Conference, Federation Diocesan Liturgical Commissions, North American Academy Liturgy, Catholic University Center for Pastoral Liturgy, and Societas Liturgica. Our thanks to Pilot for support this movement through Word and Worship and Pastoral Liturgy.

3 In Marriage Encounter and Engaged Encounter we are grateful to all for lessons learned as vision vocation continues to expand. Our thanks to permanent diaconate and many deacons Boston who have encouraged and helped us and to many religious sisters and brors who have also been our partners in journey: CSJ, SCN, SC, CFX, OFM, RCE, O Carm, PDDM, SND, SGM, et al. Thanks to students and faculty colleagues at Archbishop Williams High School, Stonehill College, Emmanuel College, and Merrimack College For sabbaticals enjoyed at St. Patrick s, Menlo Park CA, and at Washington Theological Union, Silver Springs MD, for Guest House and AA, for all who have ministered to us spiritually and physically, we are grateful. The people Haiti have given us far more than we could give m through Hospice St. Joseph in Port au Prince, and St. Francis Parish in Fond des Blanc; St. Boniface Haiti Foundation, Sacred Heart - St. Brigid Haiti Committee, Outreach to Haiti, and IC Haiti, In each towns where we have served, we are grateful to ecumenical and interfaith colleagues with whom we have been privileged to share. As priests archdiocese we are grateful to our brors in presbyterate, including Association Boston Urban Priests, Boston Priests Forum, and Emmaus groups. Now in this latest chapter our journey retirement many thanks to all at St. Agatha, Milton, St. Mary, Brookline, Incarnation, Melrose, Marian Manor, South Boston, and especially all at Regina Cleri residents and staff. As many you know, Dick has been diagnosed with onset ALS, including, more immediately, challenges to speaking. Thus, during Mass, Bob will do most speaking. Also, Bob has been diagnosed with dementia. Gifted we are to share a home at Regina Cleri and we are grateful for all who have helped us through se days. Dick Butler and Bob Butler

7 Pression Faith I believe in one God, Far almighty, maker heaven and earth, all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son God,born Far before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made, consubstantial with Far; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by Holy Spirit was incarnate Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on third day in accordance with Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at right hand Far. He will come again in glory to judge living and dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in Holy Spirit, Lord, giver life, who proceeds from Far and Son, who with Far and Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through prophets.
