The Early Learning Centre: employs 14 Cambodians from all types of backgrounds, some of which have been rescued from horrendous situations, it is exciting work helping transition these people back into normal life. All the staff are Christians and most of them attend and are involved in the Khmer church. There are currently 35 children attending the centre, ranging from 3 months to 5 years. The goal of the centre is to provide an excellent quality of care and education to the children therefore giving them them the best start in life. As some of the children come from very poor backgrounds, this gives them a head start and will possibly help them obtain good jobs and then be able to support their families.

9 RICHI AND REGI ELLERINGTON Where: France, Europe Organisation: Surf Church, Hossegor ABOUT US: After 3 years at Regents Theological College, obtaining his BA (Hon) Degree and being a trained lifeguard, Richard knew that he was called to be a Pastor, even from an early age. Following his time at Regents, Richard then spent 3 years at Renewal Christian Centre, Birmingham, before moving to Weston Super Mare. Here he spent 13 years working alongside most of his family at Holy Trinity Church. Richard is probably most well known among the youth of Elim, as the crazy guy at The Gathering. He once stood on stage with his pregnant wife, Regi, and asked the crowd what to name the child they were expecting. The loudest cheer won and they named their son Indie. Richard was settled in his role at Holy Trinity but God started stirring his heart. Richard s passion for the lost, his love of surfing, skating, snowboarding and most other extreme sports, led him and his family to a point where they were setting aside the comfortable life of Weston Super Mare and taking on the adventure of a lifetime! In August 2012, Richard and his whole family, boarded a truck and drove to Hossegor, France. His vision is to church plant in one of the hubs of the surfing world, to reach the surfing community and see people impacted by the Gospel.

17 DOM AND SARAH JOHN Where: Germany Ministry: KCC (Cologne City Church) WHY GERMANY: Cologne is the fourth largest city in Germany and has 1,3 million inhabitants. It s well known for its huge cathedral (the Dom, we thought that was a sign!) and its chocolate museum (definitely a sign!). It s also home of one of Europe oldest and largest University. Cologne is the media capital of the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and has a strong influence on the area. However, the number of born again Christians is extremely low with very few growing Evangelical churches and strong suspicions of non-state churches. Although Germany is an economically strong country, it s spiritual state is very poor. That s why we believe it s a great place to start a new church - Cologne City Church. KCC: We moved to Cologne in June 2015 from Derby. About a year before moving we had asked a bunch of old friends back in Germany if they wanted to join us in the adventure of starting a new church. Funnily enough, quite a few were up for it, lived close to Cologne or relocated shortly after us. Pretty quickly we had a good team of quality people around us wanting to join in the vision. Four weeks after we moved into our new flat, we started opening up our home to celebrate our first dinner parties. For seven consecutive weeks, once a week, our flat was packed with hungry and happy strangers who either were looking for a church or had nothing to do with God. Our first official service was in December & over 100 people attended!

They pastored Elim churches in Gosport, Tamworth, Rotherham and latterly in Bradford for 18 years. In 2001 Bob became involved in ministry in Romania and in August 2005 he followed God s call to live there with Edith arriving in Romania shortly after. It was the plight of children and teens in rural villages that was and is the main focus of their ministry in Romania. Bob and Edith run children s and youth clubs at Casa Sperantei - meaning House of Hope that was designed to accommodate such meetings. However, by the Spring of 2009 the number of children and teens was too great to be accommodated in the house so the construction of a family centre was commenced in March Currently five clubs from five villages use the new centre every week with the McDonalds providing transport via two minibuses. Three English classes are held each week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons. In that year they started a children s home and school. Since then things have gone from strength to strength and the children s home and school in Kosele are thriving. Unfortunately the frequent droughts, HIV, unsafe drinking water and a lack of affordable treatment for diseases like malaria, TB and typhoid continue to make Kosele a very tough place to live. Hope And Kindness has established Kosele Christian Community children s home and schools. The children s home was started in 2002 and currently cares for 30 orphans, mostly teenagers. The primary school provides free education to around 180 children, mostly orphans and vulnerable children, aged from 3 to 17. An agricultural college has recently opened to provide post-primary academic and vocational education. The project s own farm is now providing much of the food requirements as well as a teaching facility for the college and the community.

26 TRACEY MOYES Where: Swaziland Organisation: Challenge Ministries Swaziland, Mission Impact ABOUT ME: Having experienced God s love and saving grace as a young girl I knew that God was good, however it was only years later where that knowledge was shaken, when my husband died of cancer, that I truly came to an understanding of just how good and loving God is. Through my journey of brokenness and into healing I have discovered what it means to truly be a daughter of God. To know Him and to be known by Him. My desire is that everyone would know this, I have a particular heart to see women and girls who have been broken by abuse or loss find healing and know their identity as daughters of God. And to be restored and to know Him as a good and loving Father. I felt God call me to Swaziland 3 months after my husband died. Over the last 6 years God has confirmed again and again that He is calling me to serve in Africa, particularly in Swaziland. I serve at the CMS Mission Impact base in Hawane, where I host teams of volunteers who come for a few weeks or months at a time to serve the widows and orphans, teach at the schools, pray for the sick in the hospitals and help with medical outreach. I serve the Swazi women who need help in any way that God leads me to meet their needs and show them His love and goodness.

28 JAMES AND JOANNA MARTIN Where: Rwanda Ministry: Youth and young leaders OUR MINISTRY: We both feel that it is God s will for us to serve His kingdom in Rwanda working alongside Inkuru Nziza, an established church organisation with which we already have strong links. Additionally we will both be going as Elim missionaries with the Elim International Missions. Our vision it to work within Inkuru Nziza with our focus on children and young people. Rwanda is a nation that has an incredibly young population with 42.1% of its population being made up of children who are 0-14 years old. It is these young people who will continue to help re-build a nation ruined by the horrific acts of the 1994 genocide and therefore investing in these young people holds a great sense of purpose. Our work would include pastoring the youth of the church and seeking to reach out to the young people who are yet to have made a commitment to Christ. Additionally we would train children s workers and youth pastors from other churches in the Inkuru Nziza network. This would involve running training conferences for the youth pastors in Kigali (Rwanda s capital city conveniently located in the centre of the country). Working with young people has always been on our hearts and we see it as fitting into our wider calling and gifting.

29 LYNETTE ORANGE Where: Philippines Organisation: City Gates Academy ABOUT ME: Lynette grew up in Rugby and has been a lifelong member of Elim Rugby Christian Fellowship. After training to be a primary school teacher and teaching for five years, Lynette went to serve in the Philippines on a short term team working as a volunteer teacher. This had a huge impact on her life and following a return trip in 2010 Lynette felt the call of God to return to the Philippines on a long term basis. Lynette was accepted as an Elim Missionary working with City Gates Academy, Manila and arrived there in April CITY GATES ACADEMY: is a high quality pre-school from Monday to Friday, where the most disadvantaged receive a free education in exchange for 12-hours of work every month from the children s parents. In addition to the educational program, at the weekends City Gates also hold a Saturday morning feeding program and youth choir open to all children in the local community. They also run activities throughout the summer including summer school and medical missions. City Gates is meeting the needs of their community not just educationally but physically and spiritually.

30 CLAIR OATES Where: Swaziland Ministry: Challenge Ministries, Hawane Farm and Community ABOUT ME: I have been a part of Dewsbury Elim Church for 27 years, raised my family there, and served as an Elder for 7 years. In 2012 I went to Uganda on a mission trip which changed me dramatically. As a qualified nurse for 14 years, I had the opportunity of going to Swaziland in 2013 and felt led to go back full time in May 2014, joining the health team in Challenge Ministries Swaziland, using health clinics to help people and show them God s love in a compassionate way. HIV and TB is a huge issue in Swaziland and they face huge challenges. The vision is to compassionately win Swaziland, through partnering with likeminded individuals, churches and organisations; to train up a remnant to preserve the future by becoming an accurate representation of Christ being lived out amongst communities; to send out empowered believers from a restored Swaziland to a world in need. It is an honour to serve God in this way.

Working in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators UK, whose vision is to see a Bible translated into every language of the world, they serve in Nigeria. They both grew up as Wycliffe kids, Ali in Ghana and Tim in Papua New Guinea but we had no idea God would lead them in this direction. Nigeria has a total of 520 languages, over 300 of which don t have a single word of scripture yet. There is a massive need for Bible translation. In fact, the country has the second biggest need for Bible translation in the world. Tim is responsible for overseeing funding for around 12 Bible translation projects and resource departments in Nigeria, helping to keep the money flowing in and the information flowing out! He is also involved in doing special projects for the director. These can range from organising meetings to building websites, and a variety of things in between. Each job is something that needs doing but doesn t fit naturally into anyone else s role. So instead of distracting someone from their primary job, Tim can take it on.
