5 Scripture...Matthew 17:1-9 The Transfiguration After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. Peter said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him! When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified. But Jesus came and touched them. Get up, he said. Don t be afraid. When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, Don t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead. The Word of the Lord: Thanks be to God! There's A Wideness In God's Mercy There's a wideness in God's mercy Like the wideness of the sea; There's a kindness in His justice Which is more than liberty. There is welcome for the sinner And more graces for the good; There is mercy with the Saviour; There is healing in His blood. For the love of God is broader Than the measure of man s mind; And the heart of the Eternal Is most wonderfully kind. If our love were but more simple, We should take Him at His word; And our lives would be illumined By the presence of our Lord. 6 Standing On The Promises Chorus Standing, Standing, Standing on the promises of God, my Savior; Standing, Standing, I'm standing on the promises of God. Standing on the promises of Christ, my King! Thro' eternal ages let His praises ring; Glory in the highest! I will shout and sing, Standing on the promises of God. Standing on the promises of Christ, the Lord, Bound to Him eternally by love's strong cord, Overcoming daily with the Spirit's Sword, Standing on the promises of God. Standing on the promises, I cannot fall, List'ning every moment to the Spirit's call, Resting in my Savior as my All in All, Standing on the promises of God. 8 Core Value #1 Core Value #1 1. We are Committed to Loyalty to Christ and the Church. We acknowledge Christ as the head of our church and submit ourselves and all our ministries to His will and good pleasure (Ephesians 1:22-23: And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.). Under the Lordship of Christ, we believe that the pursuit of full devotion to Christ and His love for the world is the ideal for every believer. Therefore, we will encourage all our members to display a sense of loyalty to our church fellowship and ministries and a commitment to the goals of the Kingdom of God (Philippians 2:1-4: 1 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.). 1. We are Committed to Loyalty to Christ and the Church.
