3 SH 2:17 A request that God will save us is not all that is required. The mere habit of pleading with the divine Mind, as one pleads with a human being, perpetuates the belief in God as humanly circumscribed, an error which impedes spiritual growth. SH 13:20-24 If we pray to God as a corporeal person, this will prevent us from relinquishing the human doubts and fears which attend such a belief, and so we cannot grasp the wonders wrought by infinite, incorporeal Love, to whom all things are possible. SH 2:15-16 Prayer cannot change the Science of being, but it tends to bring us into harmony with it. SH 587:5-8 GOD. The great I AM; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, allloving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence. SH 180:25-27 When man is governed by God, the ever-present Mind who understands all things, man knows that with God all things are possible. SH 184:16-18 Controlled by the divine intelligence, man is harmonious and eternal. Whatever is governed by a false belief is discordant and mortal. SH 222:31-2, 7-8 We must destroy the false belief that life and intelligence are in matter, and plant ourselves upon what is pure and perfect. Matter does not express Spirit. God is infinite omnipresent Spirit. SH 597:27 WIND. That which indicates the might of omnipotence and the movements of God s spiritual government, encompassing all things. Destruction; anger; mortal passions. SH 288:14-18 The lightnings and thunderbolts of error may burst and flash till the cloud is cleared and the tumult dies away in the distance. Then the raindrops of divinity refresh the earth. SH 119:17-18, 21; 120:7-9 In one sense God is identical with nature, but this nature is spiritual and is not expressed in matter. God is natural good, and is represented only by the idea of goodness; while evil should be regarded as unnatural, because it is opposed to the nature of Spirit, God. Science reverses the false testimony of the physical senses, and by this reversal mortals arrive at the fundamental facts of being. SH 188:4 The belief of sin, which has grown terrible in strength and influence, is an unconscious error in the beginning, an embryonic thought without motive; but afterwards it governs the so-called man. Passion, depraved appetites,

4 dishonesty, envy, hatred, revenge ripen into action, only to pass from shame and woe to their final punishment. SH 144: nd Human, 19 Human will belongs to the so-called material senses, and its use is to be condemned. It produces evil continually, and is not a factor in the realism of being. Truth, and not corporeal will, is the divine power which says to disease, Peace, be still. SH 67:4-11 When the ocean is stirred by a storm, then the clouds lower, the wind shrieks through the tightened shrouds, and the waves lift themselves into mountains. We ask the helmsman: Do you know your course? Can you steer safely amid the storm? He answers bravely, but even the dauntless seaman is not sure of his safety; nautical science is not equal to the Science of Mind. SH 544:16-17 All is under the control of the one Mind, even God. SH 514:26-28 Understanding the control which Love held over all, Daniel felt safe in the lions den, and Paul proved the viper to be harmless. SH 91:5-7 Let us rid ourselves of the belief that man is separated from God, and obey only the divine Principle, Life and Love. SH 231:16 (only, to 2nd.), God is not the author of mortal discords. To hold yourself superior to sin, because God made you superior to it and governs man, is true wisdom. To fear sin is to misunderstand the power of Love and the divine Science of being in man s relation to God, to doubt His government and distrust His omnipotent care. SH 273:21 God never ordained a material law to annul the spiritual law. If there were such a material law, it would oppose the supremacy of Spirit, God, and impugn the wisdom of the creator. Jesus walked on the waves, fed the multitude, healed the sick, and raised the dead in direct opposition to material laws. His acts were the demonstration of Science, overcoming the false claims of material sense or law. SH 184:12-18 Truth, Life, and Love are the only legitimate and eternal demands on man, and they are spiritual lawgivers, enforcing obedience through divine statutes. Controlled by the divine intelligence, man is harmonious and eternal. Whatever is governed by a false belief is discordant and mortal. SH 418:5-9 Stick to the truth of being in contradistinction to the error that life, substance, or intelligence can be in matter. Plead with an honest conviction of truth and a clear perception of the unchanging, unerring, and certain effect of divine Science.

5 SH 84:30-1 If this Science has been thoroughly learned and properly digested, we can know the truth more accurately than the astronomer can read the stars or calculate an eclipse. SH 255:1 (only), 3-6; 256:6-7 Eternal Truth is changing the universe. Let there be light, is the perpetual demand of Truth and Love, changing chaos into order and discord into the music of the spheres. Mind, not matter, is the creator. SH 337:24 Eternal things (verities) are God s thoughts as they exist in the spiritual realm of the real. Temporal things are the thoughts of mortals and are the unreal, being the opposite of the real or the spiritual and eternal. SH 479:23-29 Darkness and chaos are the imaginary opposites of light, understanding, and eternal harmony, and they are the elements of nothingness. We admit that black is not a color, because it reflects no light. So evil should be denied identity or power, because it has none of the divine hues. SH 480:23 Evil is a false belief. God is not its author. The supposititious parent of evil is a lie. SH 480:5 If there is no spiritual reflection, then there remains only the darkness of vacuity and not a trace of heavenly tints. SH 480:1-5 When the substance of Spirit appears in Christian Science, the nothingness of matter is recognized. Where the spirit of God is, and there is no place where God is not, evil becomes nothing, the opposite of the something of Spirit. SH 489:28-29 Outside the material sense of things, all is harmony. SH 289:25-27 (to 1st.) The spiritual fact and the material belief of things are contradictions; but the spiritual is true, and therefore the material must be untrue. SH 297:24 Human thoughts have their degrees of comparison. Some thoughts are better than others. A belief in Truth is better than a belief in error, but no mortal testimony is founded on the divine rock. Mortal testimony can be shaken. Until belief becomes faith, and faith becomes spiritual understanding, human thought has little relation to the actual or divine. SH 298:4-10 As a cloud hides the sun it cannot extinguish, so false belief silences for a while the voice of immutable harmony, but false belief cannot destroy Science armed with faith, hope, and fruition. What is termed material sense can report only a mortal temporary sense of things, whereas spiritual sense can bear witness only to Truth.

6 SH 169:27-28 Only the action of Truth, Life, and Love can give harmony. SH 171:12-13 Mind s control over the universe, including man, is no longer an open question, but is demonstrable Science. SH 217:22-24 in In proportion as you understand the control which Mind has over so-called matter, you will be able to demonstrate this control. SH 393:16-18 Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God s government. SH 505:16-20 Spirit imparts the understanding which uplifts consciousness and leads into all truth. The Psalmist saith: The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.
