1 BEAUTIFUL FEET Packinghouse Redlands Missions Newsletter January/February 2012 Home With Her Lord After an intense struggle against cancer, Karen Chesnut passed from this world into the presence of her loving Savior on August 15 th, Karen is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jon; her father, Robert; her brother, Brian; her sisters, Robin and Jody; and her four children and five grandchildren. Karen served the Lord with her life. Karen Chesnut She traveled to over 22 countries, November 24, August 15, 2011 spending an extensive amount of time in Russia. She was the first American to visit in some parts of southern Russia, where she distributed New Testament Bibles to manufacturing plant workers. She worked with Wycliffe Bible Translators for the past 6 years, and was the editor of the Packinghouse Missions Newsletter. Karen dedicated a great deal of her life to Christian education. She studied education at the National College of Education and taught in Chicago and Desert Hot Springs, California. For 19 years she taught at Calvary Chapel of Redlands Christian School (now Packinghouse Christian Academy ) as not only a Math, Science and Bible teacher, but also as the High School Counselor, the Missions Program Director, and as Vice Principal. A memorial service was held August 19 th, at the Packinghouse in Redlands. Prayer is asked for comfort and peace for her husband, father, and other family members during this time.

2 Growth and Progress News from Garrie and Jackie Price: Serving in Baja Sur, Mexico Garrie and Jackie Price continue their aithful work at Calvary Chapel Safe Harbor, spending their time evangelizing and attending to the building of the new church. As of October 28, the roof for the new building was completed, and they have yet to build a storage room and bathroom before opening. Volunteers have helped to complete the work, yet expect nothing in return for their labor of love. We have prayed for men who are out of work and serving the Lord with their labor, for God to provide paying jobs. At times, construction has stopped completely because of God's provision for these men to have temporary, paying jobs. How could we complain when our delay is an answer to our prayers? So we patiently wait our turn. As the jobs end, the men return to help. God is faithful. Meanwhile, the Nacer Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Center continues to grow. At least 15 new faces have appeared at the program, with people constantly coming in and going out. Within a few weeks, the new faces sitting in the back rows move to the front, and according to Garrie-- become the vocal ones who tell the 'others' who talk during the Bible study to 'Be quiet.' We know the Word of God goes out and does not return void. Jackie taught an evangelism class to a group of women Christian proudly standing on the completed roof!

3 from four other churches. The approach which involves giving a person the Good News after their heart has been convicted of sin was well received. They loved it and they are using it. The basic premise is 'Law to the proud and grace to the humble.' The Law of God is an amazing tool when used properly and in love. Please continue to pray for the ongoing difficulties with the drug cartels. We see this as an opportune time for prayer. Pray the Lord would use this to lead many out of the darkness of sin and to the foot of the Cross, and find Salvation in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Praise Reports: God's faithfulness and encouragement as He leads us in this adventure Prayer Requests: Completion of the church building God provides 150 chairs and money to build a children's room in the lot next to the church God's help in discerning how and when to disciple those who work 12-hour days For God to be glorified in Calvary Chapel Safe Harbor Lean on the Lord A Message From Dan and Ana Jones: Serving in Alamos, Mexico In today's world it's easy to lean on your own resources to make ends meet. We have a dear family that is part of the church here that has a lot of difficulty taking a day off each week to come to fellowship. On Sunday, a brother was telling me about how he was thinking of his son who is studying at a university, and saying how he felt it was worth

4 what he was sacrificing to hear his son say, "Dad, I'm off to the Bible study!" His son is very faithful and was instrumental in the family coming to the Lord. My friend thought I was going to chastise him for not coming to church for so long, but I knew that he realized it, so I didn't. But when he said that he felt it was worth the sacrifice that he was making since his son was doing well at the university and was walking with the Lord, I had to say something. The only thing I told him is that our problem many times is that we don't leave any room for the supernatural. We do things in our own strength and lean on our own resources. Jesus calls us in clear terms when He says, "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." (Matthew 6:31-34) I admire a good work ethic. I work every day too, so people cannot say that it's easy for me to make it to the studies since it's all I do. But Jesus is always first. Pray for my friend, and if you are doing all you can and feel like you are being overcome with your burdens, place them on Jesus. Keep working, but give Him first place and rest in Him and you will see not only the rewards of your work, but you will see how He provides supernaturally and makes ends meet when we seek Him and His kingdom before all else! 5 Updates From the Field Dave and Summer Hauser serving with YWAM in Thailand Dave recently took a short trip over to Shillong, India reconnecting with friends and assisting with the work the Lord is doing in India. Dave took part in training 35 young adults at the Discipleship Bible College, who are sent out for ten days to experience missions work first hand. The students were sent out to do evangelism in the streets, go door to door, and even go out in the rice patty fields. At least 3 people gave their lives to Christ for the first time. On Sunday morning, Dave revisited the church he used to attend while serving as the YWAM Base Director in Shillong. He hadn't planned on publicly sharing, but the pastor brought him up in front of the church to speak. I shared a brief overview of our lives for the past two years, and encouraged them, saying that God is working in our lives whether we can see it or not. There are always lessons to learn if our hearts are open. The classic line YWAMers use in every situation is 'God, what are You trying to teach me through this?' The trip was short, but fulfilling. Dave writes, Spending time with old friends was meaningful and encouraging. Seeing work accomplished is great, but the relationships are so significant and precious to us. Ted and Claudia Limpic Serving in Spain: Back From Jordan Ted and Claudia Limpic report that their trip to Jordan was blessed. The Lord gave us great flights, uncomplicated passport checks, and wonderful times of conversation and prayer with our Brazilian friends. The Limpics visited about 24 Brazilians, who are now studying Arabic, after having to learn English. Most of the younger couples now are blessed with children, and so their conversations were often focused on child raising and education. Ted and Claudia thank everyone for their prayers. The Lord richly blessed our time in this strategic nation.

6 Mexico Outreach A Word From the Mexico Missions Outreach Let me begin by thanking you for the prayers, support, donations, and encouragement as you joined us in spirit on the December Mexico outreach ministry. This is the second year Santa and his elves joined our team to Mexico to celebrate Jesus birth with the local ministries and community. Saturday morning began a devotion in Luke 2 to set the tone for the day the encouragement that we are all used by God to share in this Christmas celebration. The plan was to visit four ministries. The vision was to share the Christmas story with the children. Our first stop was at Potter's House, a rehab facility for men. The increasing excitement of the children and the parent s laughter was precious and brought tears of joy. We could tell by the children's responses to questions about the Christmas story that they are taught well about the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our second stop was to Agua Vida, an outreach ministry that feeds & cares daily for the children of the Indian farmers that work in the fields. Many children listened intently to the Gospel Message that was followed by candy & a small toy for each child. The Lord gave us opportunity to share the love of Christ with an unplanned visit to a poor migrant farm worker s family camp. The women allowed us to pray for them and their children. This was the poorest of conditions. As we

7 left the camp, a young man overturned his all terrain motor vehicle and was severely hurt. Team members assisted the injured man. Please keep this young man in prayer for God's intervention in his life. Third stop was at Casa Esperanza, a women & children's facility. The local community and the facility residents awaited in excitement for our arrival. Once again, the Christmas story was told. The last stop was Hermosa church. We delivered candy and basic needs for the church to distribute to the local community. The Lord was glorified and many were encouraged in the Good News of the Birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Many long-time, good memories and blessings. Once again, thank you for your prayers, donations and encouragement. We could not be as effective without you! 8 Israel Outreach In November, a small group from the Packinghouse went on a missions outreach to Tel Aviv Israel. This was not your normal tourist trip to the Land; this was an outreach to a city that has no Biblical or historical significance, but it is the place where refugees come into the land. We worked with CC Tel Aviv in their outreach to the homeless and were able to participate in worship, home fellowship, and church services. We were able to do some street evangelism too. What a blessing from the Lord: to share the Messiah in the land of Israel. Reading Corner This month's featured book is Walking With the Poor by Bryant L. Myers. As the Vice President for International Program Strategy at World Vision International, Myers writes about the balance needed when addressing the delicate condition of poverty. Myers covers a wide range of topics, including social and economic purpose and design, contributions to poverty and its web of conditions, and appreciating and respecting local cultures. Not only does Myers address loving and respecting the poor, but he also addresses a Godly attitude to the non-poor and others that have contributed to local poverty. A revised and updated version of this book was released December 1, 2011.
