Sunday, April 10, :00 am Morning Worship Prelude Pureza No Sangue arr. A. Lima The Church itself is not made up of natural friends. It is made up of natural enemies. Christians come together, not because they form a natural collocation, but because they have all been saved by Jesus Christ. They are a band of natural enemies who love one another for Jesus sake. - D.A. Carson Preparation We focus our hearts and minds in preparation to enter into the life-giving presence of God. Prayer (Collect) of Preparation: Deliver us when we draw near to You, from coldness of heart and wanderings of mind: Grant that with steadfast thoughts and kindled affections, we may worship You in Spirit and in Truth. Amen Call to Worship Liturgist: Rev. Leandro Pinheiro Leader: Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Congregation: Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Leader: Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to the LORD, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Congregation: Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. from Psalm 34:8; Isaiah 55:1-2,6-7 Call to Worship God calls his people to assemble for worship; accordingly the church calls itself together. Invocation 1

God s people sing not only as an expression of our love for God but also to remind ourselves of our place in God s redemptive work. The church is marked by its singing, from Israel s deliverance through the Psalms to our worship today. Come, Now Is the Time to Worship Words and Music: Brian Doerksen Lord, I Need You Words and Music: C. Nockels, D. Carson, J. Reeves, K. Stanfill, and M. Maher 2

Call to Confession Leader: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John Prayer of Confession All: Almighty God, who freely pardons all who repent and turn to Him, now fulfill in every contrite heart the promise of redeeming grace; forgiving all our sins, and cleansing us from an evil conscience; through the perfect sacrifice of Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen. From the Book of Common Prayer Call to Confession In God s presence, the evil that mars our lives corporate and individual comes to light. Through Jesus Christ, we are safe to be honest about ourselves because we fear no condemnation. 3

Declaration of Absolution God declares through his Church that all who repent and believe in Jesus Christ are completely forgiven from all their sins and their guilty consciences cleansed. Declaration of Absolution Leader: The Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Just as a father has pity on his children, so the Lord has pity on those who fear him. Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, has had mercy on us and has given his only Son to die for us and for his sake forgives us all our sins. To those who repent and look to Jesus Christ for their salvation, the absolution of sins is effected in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Congregation: Amen. Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord, Congregation: the Maker of heaven and earth. Leader: O Lord, open our lips, Congregation: and our mouths will declare your praise. Leader: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Congregation: As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen. Nothing But the Blood of Jesus Words and Music: Robert Lowry 4

Lord s Supper Invitation All: I believe in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible; And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God; begotten of his Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures; And ascended into Heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; And he shall come again with glory, to judge both the quick and the dead; Whose Kingdom shall have no end; And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and Giver of Life, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son; Who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; Who spoke by the prophets; And I believe in one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church; I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; And I look for the resurrection of the Dead; And the life of the world to come. Amen. The Nicene Creed Words of Institution Minister: God meets us in the sacraments, holy acts in which his deeds elicit our response. In the supper our Lord offers the bread and the cup to believers to guarantee our share in his death and resurrection, and to unite us to him and to each other. All: We take this food gladly, announcing as we eat that Jesus is our life and that he shall come again to call us to the Supper of the Lamb. Distributing of Elements Prayer for Those Searching for Truth Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are. Grant that I might be unafraid of the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. Give me an understanding of you that is clear, convincing, and that leads to the life you promise. Amen Prayer for Those Desiring to Trust in Jesus Christ for the First Time Lord Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever before believed. And I know that through you I am more loved & accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank you for paying my debt, bearing my punishment on the cross, and providing forgiveness and new life. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Savior and Lord and desire to live a life of loving and serving you. Amen. Lord s Supper God meets us not only in hearing the Word, but also in visible, tangible form uniting us with himself spiritually by faith in Christ. Servers Scripture come Reading forward.
