2 Year 5 English Guy Fawkes Night Acrostic Poem In the UK, the 5th of November means only one thing Guy Fawkes night! Guy Fawkes night celebrates the time the Houses of Parliament in London were almost blown up with gunpowder, but the plot was foiled at the last minute. Nowadays, we celebrate the night by lighting bonfires and attending fireworks displays. We want you to create a poem based on what Guy Fawkes night means to you. This is an acrostic poem, so use the letters from the word bonfire to start each new line of your poem. Before you begin, there are few thing that we want you to include: At least ONE simile (describing something by comparing it to something else. E.g. The man ran as fast as a lion ). At least ONE metaphor (describing something by saying it is something else. E.g. The stars were diamonds ). At least TWO examples of alliteration (starting two or more words with the same letter. E.g. The slimy snake ). Off you go! B O N F I R E
