We watched Irish Dancing and talked about what was different and the same as any celebrations we have. The children then created lots of different artwork using a variety of media.

We looked at the major cities and rivers that run through the country. We discussed the type of food they are famous for and how many Irish people celebrate the day. We also talked about New York and how lots of Irish people migrated to America to start a new life. Next, we looked at the national flower of Ireland, the Shamrock. We learned how to make a shamrock out of paper. First we used strips of paper to make hearts, and then we joined them together. They looked really effective. Finally we completed a science experiment using primary colours. We used kitchen towel and food colouring to make a walking rainbow. We made the colour green. It was so effective!
