2 God s grace it s the heart of it all and Preschool God s grace welcomes you, no matter who you are or where you are from and so do we. We believe that Jesus Christ is the true Savior of all people. By his perfect life, innocent death, and triumphant resurrection he saves all lost sinners even without our help. Jesus Christ makes us special people, right with God and ready for life! We learn this from the Bible, God s authentic message of grace and guidance for us. Whether you are a first time visitor or a returning guest, we are delighted to share our worship with you. Psalm 51b Christian Worship page 87 5 Acts 2:1-21 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. 5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues! 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, What does this mean? 13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, They have had too much wine. 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It s only nine in the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

6 In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Antiphon: Come, Holy Spirit P: Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest, And make our hearts your place of rest; Come with your grace and heav nly aid, And fill the hearts which you have made. Please stand. 7 John 16: Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, Where are you going? 6 Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. 7 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; 10 in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. Martin Luther s Explanation to the Third Article of the Apostles Creed C: I believe that I cannot by my own thinking or choosing believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to him. But the Holy Spirit has called me by the gospel, enlightened me with his gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith. In the same way he calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith. In this Christian church he daily and fully forgives all sins to me and all believers. On the Last Day he will raise me and all the dead and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ. This is most certainly true. 7

9 P: Send down, O Lord, the fire of Your Spirit, that we may be fed and nourished by Your Word and sacraments, and be made bold to confess and to live out the truth of Your Word. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your people, C: kindle in us the fire of Your love. P: Raise up faithful leaders within Your Church, that those who minister to us the means of grace may be faithful stewards of these mysteries. Bless those who hear Your Word with Your Spirit, that they may respond with faith and confess Jesus Christ as Lord. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your people, C: kindle in us the fire of Your love. P: Visit the homes of Your people and bless husband and wife, parent and child, widowed and single. Give us contentment in whatever state we are and help us to love one another with purity and kindness of heart, as You have first loved us. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your people, C: kindle in us the fire of Your love. P: Show Your kindness, O Lord, to everyone who in every need cries out to You. In all our afflictions, grant us patience, healing, and peace according to Your will. Bless the sick, the suffering, the grieving and the dying, that in all their need they may know Your sufficient grace. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your people, C: kindle in us the fire of Your love. Special prayers. P: Into Your hands, O Lord, we place ourselves and all those for whom we have prayed. Renew us in faith and inspire our hearts to greatness, that all we do, all we say, and all we are may be for Your glory; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who taught us to pray, C: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen. 9

In love he has blessed us with every spiritual blessing. By the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, he empowered his Church to be witnesses of Christ to the ends of the earth. Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ. To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and thanks and honor and glory forever and ever. 10

15 VBS Volunteers Meeting There will be a meeting for all VBS Volunteers after 19-minute Bible Study on Sunday, June 29th. If you re not able to attend, please speak to Liz Naumann. Wednesday Night Bible Study Wednesday night Bible Study is held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. We have been reading our way through Paul s letter to the Galatians. We will finish this letter this Wednesday and then move on to another book of the Bible. We hope you can come! Worship Time For the past month we have had an altered worship time of 9:30 a.m. (instead of our usual 9:00 a.m. service) due to the vacancy at Faith in Lancaster and St. Paul s in Platteville. Their new pastor will be moving in July and installed in the middle of the month. This means we will return to our usual 9:00 a.m. worship time starting July 6. Thank you again for your patience and cooperation as we work with our brothers and sisters in Christ in those congregations to proclaim the gospel in all of our communities. 15
