The last Medjugorje Star featured a talk by Jacov Colo on July 7, The lecture that followed Jacov Colo was by Father Marinko Sakota, a Franciscan, who is presently the parish priest in Medjugorje. The following is a summary of his talk. It is raining. We thank God for the rain. How we approach certain events is important as to what is happening in our lives. The rain is a free gift to us from God. The beauty of nature is free and given to us. Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje September 25, 2014 ear children! Also today I call you to also be like the stars, which by their light give light and beauty to others so they may rejoice. Little children, also you be the radiance, beauty, joy and peace and especially prayer for all those who are far from my love and the love of my Son Jesus. Little children, witness your faith and prayer in joy, in the joy of faith that is in your hearts; and pray for peace, which is a precious gift from God. Thank you for having responded to my call. Volume 28, No. 5 October/November 2014 We are here in the school of Our Lady in Medjugorje. Our Lady has been educating us for 33 years in Medjugorje and this has spread to the world. Mary is still with us to guide us to the prayer of peace. The soul is hungry for peace. Mary states to pray, pray, pray, in so many of her messages that are given to us each month by the visionaries. The Church and the church of Medjugorje is called to conversion and change. The most important message is the message of peace. St. Augustine stated, My heart is restless until peace is in me and then I can experience peace in God. It is prayer that changes me. Conversion is the most important message. October 25, 2014 ear children! Pray in this time of grace and seek the intercession of all the saints who are already in the light. From day to day may they be an example and encouragement to you on the way of your conversion. Little children, be aware that your life is short and passing. Therefore, yearn for eternity and keep preparing your hearts in prayer. I am with you and intercede before my Son for each of you, especially for those who have consecrated themselves to me and to my Son. Thank you for having responded to my call. Reflection on the Message of Our Lady by Fr. Charles Sellars, omi Light and Evil The lamp set upon the lampstand is Jesus Christ, the true light from the Father, the light that enlightens every man who comes into the world. In taking our own flesh, He has become, and is rightly called, a lamp, for He is the co-natural wisdom and word of the Father. He is proclaimed in the Church of God in accordance with orthodox faith, and He is lifted up and resplendent among the nations through the lives of those who live virtuously in observance of the Ten Commandments. So He is light to all in the house, just as He Himself, God the Word says: No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bushel basket but on a stand, and it gives light to all the house. The great King David understood this when he spoke of the Lord as a lamp, saying: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. 2 Talk continued from page 2. and righteous man. The Pharisee stated that he prayed and fasted. Jesus says that the Pharisee s prayer is not good because he is self-centered. The tax collector is changing and is sorry for the things that he did wrong. In the Gospel when Jesus is walking along the side of the apostles, the apostle Peter stated: Lord, I do not need anything but you and nothing else. Step by step the apostles are changing. The apostles hearts were burning when they were listening to Jesus. Prayer is unconditional. Through that prayer you can be changed. You start correcting yourself and you come closer to Jesus. True prayer for the pilgrims who come to Medjugorje is when you go back home different.[start praying the rosary, attend daily Mass if possible, start or attend a prayer group.] We need to hope in Jesus. We are going deep inside of Jesus. We have to pray from the heart. Mary goes to the heart. Mary wants us to go deeper into her heart. The person that has more trust can go deeper and trust more in Jesus and Mary. Mary is wise because she listens. Mary is listening to God and the angels. She is close to God and listens to Jesus. St. Joseph wanted to distance himself from Mary once he found out she was pregnant. Joseph was thinking what he should do. Joseph was listening to the thoughts of God. Let us be like Mary and Joseph. We need silence. That is why, dear friends, that we need to find time in silence to read the word of God. When you go to Apparition Hill in Medjugorje, you pray. In church you receive the Eucharist. Our Lady says to pray in the way that you know how to pray. God is in the Blessed Sacrament. You have to fast also. Our Lady asks us to fast on Fridays on bread and water. Look at the cross and focus on the wounds of Jesus. Pray with the heart. Celebrate the Holy Mass with the heart. Live every moment in Holy Mass. Adore the Blessed Sacrament with the heart. Volume 28, No. 5 October/November 2014 What does it mean to pray with the heart? It means to open up to Jesus in His thoughts and in His words. It is important to know that Jesus forgives you. If you come before the merciful Father, you are forgiven. Confession is the way to peace. Mass is the way to peace. Forgiveness is the way to peace. Our Lady is asking us to forgive. Pray for the love of the person who has hurt you. Negative things bring out sickness, anger and aggression. Love brings about the peace that is inside of you. Where there is hatred, there is no peace. Pray for love for three days for that person who has hurt you. Pray for love for that person if you are jealous of that person. Pray for peace. Pray that Jesus will give you love to accept a certain problem and to accept the cross. Pray that you are able to carry the cross, and take the cross, and do not carry the cross in bitterness. The person you are praying for might turn out to be your friend. When I start changing, the other people will change also. Love brings about the peace that is inside of you. Is there a wooden beam in your eye? Is there a change within you? With prayer from the heart, you can change. Pray the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be prayers daily. Our Lady is teaching us to pray with the heart. Worship Jesus and God with your lips, and you need to worship in your heart. This is when thanksgiving is awakened in you. The Eucharist is an awakening of thanksgiving in you. Sister Faustina Kowalska of Poland received messages from Jesus. The most important message she received is, Jesus, I trust in You. We need to say, Jesus, I trust in You. Our Lady is teaching us to repeat certain words. We need to say, Jesus, thank You, and the joy will awaken in you. When you are on the bus, tram, or in your car driving, you need to say, Jesus, thank You. The Eucharist means thank you to Jesus. 2 Pray with the heart means to work with the heart, and that is the change. We can pray and go home and stay the same as before your trip from Medjugorje. You can say to God and Jesus that I am good, gracious, and that there is no change. Examine yourself daily. Is there a wooden beam in your eye? Do you see negative in people and that is only what you remember? Have you forgiven? You cannot pray with the heart if you have not forgiven. The ways to pray with the heart are to adore the Blessed Sacrament, go to Holy Mass, and be open to prayer. The disciples said to Jesus that we do not know how to pray in the right way. It is important to be taught by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the One that changes us. The disciples were relying on their own power. Jesus said to rely on His power and the Holy Spirit. Open up to Jesus and learn how to live with Jesus. Pray the rosary daily with your family. We have to be like children to enter into the kingdom of God. Let us be like Mary on the way to Jesus to get to Heaven. Holy Spirit Women s Retreat Sr. Briege McKenna, OSC and Fr. 3 Sister Emmanuel Reports On September 3, 2014, Vicka celebrated her 50th birthday! As always, Our Lady gave her a kiss, and Vicka was radiant with joy! Let s pray for Vicka, who prays so much for us! May the next fifty years be as fruitful as the first fifty! Until now, when receiving the pilgrims, Vicka would pray silently for a full 20 minutes over the crowd. But recently she prayed for an hour, which has never happened before! It was very powerful. No one moved or spoke. You could have heard a pin drop. This new initiative of Vicka s is a notable sign that Our Lady is giving us to better understand the urgency of prayer today. Dearest Gospa, Mother of Mercy and Compassion, please soften our hearts and make them like unto your heart. Yes, we want to be your dear apostles and collaborate with you in the wonderful work you are doing to unite all your children to your Son, Jesus. From the Heart...State of Affairs by Hubie Mule One thing that resonates in my memory all these years is the message Our Lady of Medjugorje gave to Jelena Vasilj in 1984 in an inner locution (words without a vision). Do not think about wars, chastisements, evil. It is when you concentrate on these things that you are on the way to enter into them. Your responsibility is to accept Divine Peace, to live it. Are you worried about beheadings, ISIS and religious freedom? Daily hometown violence, prideful professionals advancing at any cost, same-sex marriage and abortion on demand are all worrisome issues. And what can we say about our scholarly, appointed Supreme Court and their inability to make the simplest moral decisions? Immigration, after all we are all from immigrant parents. Now we have the presidency acting without congress. Shouldn t they abide by our laws as set by our constitution? Are we justified bombing Syria On Friday, September 12, at 10pm, Ivan received Our Lady s apparition at the Blue Cross, the last one before going home to the USA. Our Lady appeared very happy and joyful. After blessing us, she prayed over us at length with her hands extended. She then prayed for a long time for peace in the world and for vocations in the Church. Let us join her in her motherly intercession, with our own prayers and offerings. She is so much in need of our prayer. How many times has she said: Less talk and more prayer. A nice thing to know is that sometimes during her apparitions to the visionaries Our Lady prays out loud in her mother tongue, especially on Thursdays when priests are present at the apparition at Ivan s place, or when pilgrims with Jewish roots are present. Israel and Palestine are battling it out again. Kay and I traveled the Gaza Strip in 1984 and we can remember the tension back then. It continues. Other wars in the Middle East also place a heavy burden on peace. Polio, Aids, Ebola and other life-threatening diseases keep everyone in a state of non-peacefulness. Even the local newspapers can t resist from putting awful, descriptive, vile, trash articles on the front page. Lord help our youngsters whose precious eyes might wander across those headlines and delve into the story. Did you know Louis and Zelie Guerin Martin, Saint Therese of Lisieux s parents, did not allow their children to read the newspaper? Six became nuns. [I recommend the book Story of a Soul, Third Edition. It is a treasure.] Well, we should be concerned about our current state of affairs. We should care. However, we must keep praying, be at peace about it and not worry. Have hope! Pray from the heart. Believe in Our Lord by Kay Mule W In Memory of William Sidney Allen e all knew him as Sid Allen. He traveled to Medjugorje on the same pilgrimage as our daughter Renée in It was a life-changing experience for him that gave him a mission. He devoted his talent in administration and design to helping others, first in the thrift stores of St. Vincent de Paul of New Orleans. Then in 2002, he joined the Bridge House/Grace House Thrift Store operation which supports recovering alcoholics and addicts. There his energy and passion made him an important participant in innovating and managing the thrift store whose sole purpose is to help others. An employee of the thrift store who knew him well said to me, He was a good man! Jesus Christ. It is His battle. Christ Jesus is peace. Mary is bringing us a message of hope. To my knowledge, the only Scripture the Queen of Peace has quoted in Medjugorje is Mt. 6: I read it every Thursday during Adoration. Saint Paul tells us exactly how to be in his letter to the Philippians 4:6-9. Read it slowly and read it again and then once more. Brothers and sisters: Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard in me. Then the God of Peace will be with you. Hvaljen Isus I Marija! (Priased be Jesus & Mary!)

4 In Luke 8:16 Jesus says, No one lights a lamp and hides it under a bushel basket After viewing two brand-new phenomenal films about Medjugorje, I feel compelled to share my thoughts in hopes of shining a light for all to see. The light is the message of Medjugorje given by Our Lady for over 33 years. We are called to set that light on a mountain top, not hide it under a basket. A Time for Miracles a film review by Mimi Kelly Stepping back in time for just a moment, I do believe that many of you will remember a very anointed documentary about Medjugorje that came out in the late 80s called Beyond the Fields. It was produced, directed and composed by Jack Sacco. This inspiring story of the apparitions of Our Lady in Medjugorje along with the beautiful musical score, made it the most popular of all Medjugorje documentaries. It still is today! Jack Sacco has done it again! In his most recent film production, he shares with us the inspiring story of the life, conversion and healing of Artie Boyle, a good man and father of 13 children. It isn t just a presentation of facts, but a journey of faith; the faith and trust in God by family and friends. You ll follow the path of Artie s brother-in-law and a friend (both very macho-men/hockey players) as they are melted and molded into instruments in God s orchestra of faith and healing. Let its light shine! Again, Jack s beautiful musical score and some wonderful images of Mary s holy village, Medjugorje, will make you want to return to this place of miracles. In today s world that seems to be void of hope, this film offers hope. We are reminded that Our Lady s message of peace, prayer, fasting, reconciliation and conversion is, in fact, a message of hope to the world. This hope comes from living her message and opening our hearts to the Will of God. I have been involved in this mission of Medugorje for over 20 years and believe that this video is a great tool of conversion. I know you ll enjoy it and be inspired by it, and hope that you ll pass it on to others and reawaken the world to the beautiful light of Our Lady s message of peace! God Exists a film review by Mimi Kelly The first scene in the documentary God Exists is an interview with Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Austria. He compares Medjugorje to Fatima and other approved apparitions, saying that there is a similarity in Mary s handwriting. Further, he says that she (Our Lady) requests from the hierarchy that they listen to the people of God. This documentary is filled with the inspiring comments of pilgrims in the village, sharing how Our Lady has touched their lives in such a powerful way on this journey of peace. This film truly helps you to comprehend and, yes, feel in the depths of Volume 28, No. 5 October/November your heart the incredible peace of this holy place. Interviewed in God Exists is a woman whose husband was completely converted by Medjugorje; first by reading about it, then by actually going there. She didn t understand! After years of confusion about his renewed faith, she decided to go to Medjugorje herself. There she found what her husband had found years before. She was deeply touched by the oneness of the pilgrims from every corner of the world. She found forgiveness and peace. Cardinal Christoph Schönborn closes with a quote from Gamaliel (Acts 5:39); he said, If it is from God, it will remain. If it is not from God, it will not remain. My closing comment refers to both of these inspiring videos, and my hope is that each of you who have been to Medjugorje (or not) and who have embraced her message, will want to pass on these documentaries to others. It s not about convincing anyone that Medjugorje is for real; rather, it s about helping anyone who does not understand our devotion to Our Lady Queen of Peace, to understand what it is that we experience through Medjugorje. It is especially important for our shepherds and our pastors to have that understanding so they can better minister to the many in their flock that believe and follow. Personally, I ve been sending these to as many priests as I can. I hope after you see these two amazing films, that you ll want to lift that basket and let the light of Medjugorje shine even brighter. I finished writing this on September 25, and then pulled up Our Lady s message for today (see page one) and thought it was interesting that I used the scripture passage about not hiding the light of the message of Medjugorje under a basket. I hope it was inspired.

7 On the second of each month, visionary Mirjana Soldo receives an apparition from Our Lady at the Blue Cross surrounded by a large crowd. After the apparition, Mirjana gives the message she has received. The September and October messages follow: September 2, 2014 Dear children, I, your mother, am coming anew among you out of love which has no end, from endless love of the endless Heavenly Father. And as I am looking into your hearts I see that many of you accept me as a mother and, with sincere and pure hearts, you desire to be my apostles. But, I am also the mother of those of you who do not accept me and who, in the hardness of your hearts, do not desire to come to know the love of my Son. And you do not know how much my heart suffers and how much I pray to my Son for you. I pray to Him to heal your souls because He can do so. I pray to Him to illuminate you with the miracle of the Holy Spirit so that you may stop, always anew, betraying, cursing and wounding Him. With all my heart I pray for you to understand that only my Son is the salvation and the light of the world. And you, my children, my dear apostles, always carry my Son in your hearts and thoughts. In this way you are carrying love. All those who do not know Him will recognize Him in your love. I am always beside you. In a special way I am beside your shepherds because my Son has called them to lead you on the way to eternity. Thank you, my apostles, for your sacrifice and love. October 2, 2014, Dear children, with motherly love I implore you, love one another. May there be in your hearts, as my Son desired from the very beginning, love for the Heavenly Father and for your neighbour in the first place - above everything of this world. My dear children, do you not recognize the signs of the times? Do you not recognise that all of this that is around you, all that is happening, is because there is no love? Comprehend that salvation is in true values. Accept the might of the Heavenly Father, love Him and honor Him. Walk in the footsteps of my Son. You, my children, my dear apostles, you are always gathering around me anew, because you are thirsty. You thirst for peace, love and happiness. Drink out of my hands. My hands are offering to you my Son who is the spring of clear water. He will bring your faith back to life and purify your hearts, because my Son loves pure hearts and pure hearts love my Son. Only pure hearts are humble and have firm faith. I ask for such hearts of you, my children. My Son told me that I am the mother of the entire world. I ask of those of you who accept me as such to help me with your life, prayer and sacrifice, for all of my children to accept me as a mother-so that I may lead them to the spring of the clear water.
