1 LOVE LINES COUNSELOR TRAINING COURSES 1. INTRODUCTION - COUNSELOR S OVERVIEW. The policies and procedures of Love lines and how to apply them. 2. SALVATION AND FILLING OF THE HOLLY SPIRIT - Discusses how to recognize the person needing these spiritual experiences; how to approach the person; how to present and how to receive these experiences. Campus Crusade for Christ material is used, along with role playing. 3. MARRIAGE, FAMILY AND DIVORCE. Discusses the major family and marriage problems today and how to counsel people in these areas. Divorce: A scriptural application to pertinent personal counseling techniques that are instrumental in enriching counseling for healing of marriage; and a practical application if divorce. 4. DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE. How to counsel a lonely person and help them effectively deal with their loneliness. How to recognize the symptoms of depression and help the caller break out of their depression. How to identify a suicidal person and what action to take to save their life. 5. FINANCES. Your money matters. This class covers three areas: (1) The importance of handling your money correctly. (2) The principles of effective financial counseling. (3) The scripture and practical keys to Christian financial planning. 6. INNER HEALING. Examines the scriptural basis for the ministry of inner healing. It teaches how Jesus ministers to hurt people. How it seeks to examine three basic areas of hurts in individual s life to receive inner healing. 7. ROOT PROBLEMS. To demonstrate that the root problems of bitterness, morale impurity, and temporal value systems stem from the basic root problem of selfishness. 8. HOMOSEXUALITY. The scriptural basis for the attitudes we should have regarding sexuality, and how to effectively counsel a homosexual and his/her family. Also, the reason for incest and how to counsel people trapped in these relationships. C 9. GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. A scriptural study and application of personal ministry which will strengthen the ability to counsel, using the gifts of the Spirit using teaching from I Corinthians. 10. LITERATURE, CBN HANDBOOKS, $ REFERRALS. The review of several areas of need where Love Lines can refer callers to for the further ongoing help. 11. DIVINE HEALTH & HEALING. A balanced scriptural approach to the topic of healing; why people are and are not healed. 12. OCCULT. A discussion of the various areas of the occult in operation today; how to identify and minister to people entrapped in each area. 13. FAITH. A balanced series of many studies for practical applications of God s Word to walk in victorious faith. 14. ACTIVE LISTENING. The four stages of active listening and how to effectively apply them in counseling. The principles are acted out in role playing. 15. CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY. How to identify the chemically dependent person; how to handle the manipulation of the chemically dependent person, and the scriptural approach to counseling a chemically dependent person. 16. CULTS. How to determine if a religion is a cult; lists front organizations and business enterprises. 17. DISRUPTIVE CALLS. How to identify and handle constant, harassing, and prank callers. 18. PREGNANCY AND ABORTION. Covers counseling and hot line numbers available for women calling in. 19. PRAYER. Study of prayer and how to use spiritual warfare effectively over the phones. 20. ABUSE. Becoming aware of the signs of abuse in the family and the resources in the community available to help. 21. KINGDOM PRINCIPLES. We will look at the laws of the Kingdom of God, as presented in Scripture, how they apply to us and to the people we counsel. 22. MINISTERING IN THE SPIRIT. Practical handson class about prayer and the Holy Spirit.
