4 Richard Steele ( ) The New Testament: A Historical Introduction An Adult Education Series Part 1: Wednesdays, Sept. 23 Dec.16, 2015 (Except November 25) Part 2: Wednesdays, Jan.6 April 6, 2016 (Except February 10 & 17) 10:00 11:30 AM The New Testament is undoubtedly the single most important book in the history of Western Civilization, whether seen as a religious book of faith or as a cultural artifact. It is also the most widely disputed and misunderstood. This lecture and discussion series will be a historical introduction to the 27 books of the New Testament. We will try to address such significant questions as who wrote these books, under what circumstances, and for what audience; we will consider what the books of the New Testament say, what they mean and how historically accurate they are. Our ultimate goal is to come to a fuller appreciation and understanding of these books that continue to play such an important role for people today. Daylight Saving Time Ends November 1 st Turn your clocks back before heading to bed on Saturday, October 31 st. Memorial Minutes Book of Remembrance Design Contest All memorial gifts and their uses are recorded in the Book Remembrance located in the Narthex in a cabinet handcrafted by chur member, William Robert. The Book pages were designed by Mrs. Way Sandau, wife of the twenty-seventh pastor, who served , a hand painted by Mrs. Frank Campbell and Mrs. Homer Peckha members who have since died. All the memorial gift information that is recorded on these hand paint pages is done using an old typewriter. Not only are we running out empty pages but also the typewriter ribbon is getting old. The Memor Committee decided this would be the perfect opportunity to start a ne Book of Remembrance in honor of the 100th anniversary of the curre fourth church, move forward with technology by logging and savi records on the computer, creating a new design for the pages, a involving a younger generation of church members in the process. We are now asking for the congregation s help in creating a new desi for the new book. This will be a contest open to every person in t congregation regardless of age who would like to participate. T Memorial Committee will choose the winner, their name will acknowledged on the front page of the book, and their design will be us on every page. The rules for submitting a design are as follows: Original Design ~ Corner Border Religious theme ~ JPG format Please all JPG entries and or questions to Vivian eccmemorial@gmail.com. Please include your name and conta information. Winners will be notified via , and will be announced church, and the church Caller. The last date for accepted entries Sunday, November 15, The winner will be announced December.
