1 Westminster Diocese Agency for Evangelisation Prospectus Autumn Term 2017 Evangelisation Workshops Marriage & Family Life Programmes Catechesis Training Courses Faith Formation Events Small Group Resources
2 The Agency for Evangelisation sets out to provide the necessary tools to help individuals and groups grow as Missionary Disciples of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. This Prospectus lists a range of opportunities developed by the Agency to support them in that endeavour. The Proclaim Workshops steer parish leaders in their task of bringing the Joy of the Gospel to all. Catechetical Courses provide the bedrock of teaching in the Faith. Marriage and Family Life Programmes promote this vital mission for the good of the individual and the family, and for the benefit of society. Adult Faith Formation Events present a range of opportunities to enable individuals to grow in their faith. Small Group Resources bring together the Catholic community to explore the teachings of Christ and his Church. Whether you are a parishioner, a Catechist or a Proclaim Lead in the Parish, I hope you will find something new to help you and others on the journey of Faith we all share. Fr Chris Fr Chris Vipers Director of Agency for Evangelisation 2

4 Evangelisation - Proclaim Westminster In Evangelii Gaudium, Pope Francis calls on all Catholics to be Missionary Disciples to carry on Jesus command to his Apostles to Go and make disciples of all nations. Westminster Diocese is responding to this call for evangelisation, through Proclaim Westminster, and the establishment of Parish Evangelisation Teams. Since the launch of Proclaim in 2015, parishes have been undertaking a range of initiatives in Prayer, Marriage & Family Life, Faith Formation, Social Action and Reaching Out, to make evangelisation bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ, a reality. Autumn 2017 Proclaim Workshops #1 - Initiatives & Resources The Proclaim Workshops this autumn will provide an opportunity for parish teams to share their successes and ideas, to learn about how Proclaim Westminster is being progressed, and to further develop local evangelisation strategies as they grow their Missionary Parish. We encourage each parish to be represented at one workshop, held in nine parish halls across the diocese, by members of their evangelisation team or those who could help form such a team in the parish, along with their parish priest. 4

8 Marriage & Family Life Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, encourages all of us, as a Church community, to help married couples and families: Parishes, movements, schools and other Church institutions can help in a variety of ways to support families and help them grow The life of every family is marked by all kinds of crises, yet these are also part of its dramatic beauty. (Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia) SmartLoving BreakThrough The Marriage & Family Life Ministry within the Agency for Evangelisation invites couples or individuals interested in accompanying married couples on their way to experience the SmartLoving Breakthrough Workshop. Thereafter, they will receive all the necessary training (including a Marriage Enrichment Retreat for their own marriage, free of charge) to make the Workshop available to others in your own parish. SmartLoving BreakThrough is a three-hour workshop primarily designed to renew hope and encourage couples to attend further weekend sessions together. It is a practical, solution-focused workshop for all stages of marriage. Drawing on contemporary research and Catholic theology, this workshop provides skills and insights to transform marriage relationships into the thriving, joy-filled encounter that they are meant to be. 17 Adult Faith Formation The Agency works to help parishes nurture the faith formation of adults, affording all an understanding of what the Church teaches and a vocabulary with which to explain their faith and reach out to others. We support adult faith formation by helping parishes develop their own pastoral plan and by organising talks and events around the diocese which parishes can tap into. There are many successful adult faith formation programmes to choose from. Each of them has something to offer and can play a valuable part in the development of a comprehensive parish plan. Listed below are a number of programmes and initiatives developed by the Agency for Evangelisation, and opportunities for formation for effective parish ministries. 'formation and enrichment of all members of the Church will enable 'the proclamation of Christ to reach people, mould communities, and have a deep and incisive influence in bringing Gospel values to bear in society and culture.' Pope St John-Paul II 17
