Many peoplee will reject them, even within the land of Israel. Even family members will turn away from the disciples because of the disciples commitment to Jesus and His kingdom. Today s Gospel offers the disciples consolation against this difficult truth- be not afraid. Matthew s Gospel alludes to the dangers and persecutions that this community has most likely already faced and will continue to face. To reassure this community, Matthew recalls for them the encouraging words of Jesus that we read today. In today s Gospel, Jesus might be understood as putting suffering in perspective. The disciples of Jesus are called upon to keep their focus on God. Those who can harm the bodyy do not have ultimate power; God does. Still persecution and suffering cannot be avoidedd or prevented. But Jesus reassures his disciples that God knows and cares about what happens to his children. Today, many experience difficulties as we endeavor to live a Christian life. Sometimes we let the opinions of others prevent us from doing what we know to be right. We need the reminder thatt what God thinks about us is more important. We are reassured by the promise that God cares for us andd protects us.. PS- Robby and Sarah Cannon are a young couple who recently moved here and would like to start up a Young Adult Group. Anyone between the ages of are asked to come on Wednesday evenings at 8PM in the Parish Hall and sign up. Also Rita Buhr is trying to head up a youth group before school starts up in the fall. This is for teens from 7 th grade to 12th grade. Please contact the parish office for more information. Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam, Fr. Greg.

Since our kickoff last month, the total pledged amount is just over $500,000! Even with the end-of-school year and busy summer time, cash and pledges have been coming in to support this difficult and expensive repair. While this is a wonderful beginning, we have received less than 160 responses of the 2,300 donation requests mailed out to parishioners. With only 7% of the parish pledging so far, we are in need of many more donations and pledges to reach our goal. We have been very blessed to receive 2 extremely substantial donations/pledges accounting for over $200,000 or 40% of the $500,000 pledged to date. Another 10 generous donations account for $100,000 or 20% of the amount pledged. We are so thankful for the significant contributions and generosity of these 12 people because they are giving us a great start, but we still have a lot of work to do! While the pledges amount to $500,000 paid over 3 years, actual donations received to date are $167,000. After subtracting $57,000 for engineering and brochure expenses, our available cash is $110,000. Hopefully, this will be enough to begin the complex repair work in the near future. Please consider this if 1,000 people would donate just $20 a month for 3 years (less than $1 a day), we will raise the remaining $720,000 to achieve our goal. Did you know...if you are above age 70 1/2, you can make a contribution (up to $100,000 annually) from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to Repairing God's House at Infant of Prague. When the donation is transferred directly from your IRA Trustee to IOP, it is not considered federally taxable income for you-but it does count toward your required minimum distribution under current regulations. So you meet your Required Minimum Distribution obligation, without paying Federal income tax on the distribution, and it lowers your adjusted gross income (AGI) which may have other tax benefits to it. For North Carolina, it is subject to NC Income Tax. Your IRA administrator can advise you if this type of gift is right for you, and can assist you in contributing to Repairing God's House from before federally taxed dollars. The easy-to-use mobile giving tool is available, text 41444, Keyword RGH, to donate/pledge from your phone, tablet, or computer. You can also donate/pledge via the

7 church website at just look for Bob the Builder icon. Campaign brochures and pledge cards were mailed previously, but are available in the pews as well. If you prefer to donate via cash or check, RGH envelopes are also available and can be placed in the collection basket during mass, mailed to the church, or dropped off at the church office. Thank you to everyone who has donated and pledged thus far and we pray that many of you will find it in your hearts to donate and pledge to help your community and your church. God bless you and let s all work together to Repair God s House!
