Dare You to Move Social: Providing Time for Fun Interaction (Small Groups, 10 minutes) Welcome kids and spend time engaging in conversation and catching up. Get ready to experience today s Bible Truth. Before kids arrive, take some time to pray for your students and the time that you ll spend together discovering how God has wired each one of them uniquely to partner with Him in His mission here on earth. Pray that they would see how they could make a difference through God s strength working through them and the way He created them no matter how old they are! 9:00 & 11:30 Get Your Head in the Game What You Need: How Old? Activity Page What You Do: Gather kids in a circle to play a guessing game. To play: o Pair kids with a partner. o o o o Read one of the examples from the How Old? Activity Page. Read the multiple-choice answers and ask kids to discuss them with their partners and select an answer by holding up fingers for the answer they choose: A - one finger, B - two fingers, C - three fingers, D - four fingers. Award points to each pair for correct answers. Declare the pair with the most points as the winner. What You Say: There are times we can t do things because we aren t old enough, like drive a car or work at Starbucks. Restrictions on what we can do can be very frustrating. [Transition] Let s head to Large Group to hear about something you can do at any age. Lead your group to the Large Group area. 10:15 Just for Fun What You Need: What s Different? Activity Pages, pencils, marker What You Do: Invite kids to put their offering in the offering container as they arrive. Give kids a What s Different? Activity Page and a pencil. As kids work on finding the differences between the two pictures, ask kids to share what they did last week to get to know God or grow in their relationships with God. Lead your group to the Large Group area. 2

Dare You to Move Bible: Dare You to Move (Timothy) 1 Timothy 4:12 (supporting: Acts 14-17; 1 Timothy 4:14, 1 Corinthians 4:17; 16:10) Bottom Line: God made me to make a difference. Psalm 139:14, NIV Life App: Individuality Discovering who you are meant to be Basic Truth: I should treat others the way I want to be treated. Bible: Communicating God s Truth in Engaging Ways (Large Group, 30 minutes) Engage kids hearts through a dynamic and interactive Bible Truth, worship, and prayer experience in a Large Group setting. SFX: Play high-energy music as kids enter. CG: 10-second countdown Welcome Host enters. Host has lots of energy as he or she welcomes everyone to [Name of Environment]. Host is relatable and inviting. Host can talk about something that happened culturally throughout the week like a big sports game, movie openings: Captain Marvel, Dumbo, Wonder Park, a viral video on YouTube, etc. Host tells them how excited he or she is that they re there and briefly runs through what they can expect. This is especially helpful for first-time guests to make them feel like they know what s happening. This would also be a good time to encourage students and their families to pray for (and possibly sponsor) a child through Compassion International. (See the Getting Ready section above.) WORSHIP CG: At the Top of My Lungs CG: Good Always CG: Good, Good Father Opener Host transitions to Worship. Host transitions to the opening game. HOST: What s going on, my people! We have such a good day in store for you. And that day starts with another maker s challenge for some of you to make something that shows us just how God made you. When it comes to shapes, you can make them out of all sorts of different materials wood, metal, popsicle sticks, pool noodles. But today the only material you get is something that everyone in this room has right now: your body! I need two Small Group Leaders and five of your kids. Who wants in? 4

Host chooses two Small Group Leaders who each bring five of their kids to the stage with them. Introduce them to the rest of the kids. Here s how you play: Small Group Leaders, each of you will stand near the top of one of these ladders. I will whisper a shape or word to your kids. Kids, your job is to lie on the ground and work together to form that shape or word. The first Small Group Leader will look down from the ladder and try to guess what word or shape he or she is seeing. The first leader to guess will win a point for his or her team. Make sense? Great! Alright, are we ready? I ll give you the first word or shape and then say go. (Whisper first word or shape.) GO! List of words and shapes: Star (shape), Hi (word), Square (shape), Triangle (shape), Go (word), Now (word), Rectangle (shape), Up (word), Arrow (shape) Play several rounds. (After the game) That was amazing. Well done! Now everyone, please give your full attention to today s edition of the So&So Show! Host exits as Communicator enters. 5

INTRODUCTION CG: 252 Movie CG: Memory Verse COMMUNICATOR S SCRIPT "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:14, NIV COMMUNICATOR: I don t ever want you to forget that you were made on purpose and for a purpose. God is not a man that He should lie. His words are true, then, now, and always; and always for you. Even now, as a fifth grader, you have your purpose in this world and in His kingdom. LANDING Do you have some people in your life that could use a good example to them on how to use words to build up rather than tear down? Then do it now, not later! Paul told Timothy to set an example in how he lives. Do you have some people in your life that could use an example of what it means to live life the right way? Then do it now, not later! Paul also told Timothy to set an example in how he loves. Do you have some people in your life that can use an example of what it looks like to love other people even when they are hard to love? Set an example for them... now, not later! These are three ways all of you can make a difference. LANDING COMMUNICATOR: But as you head to Small Group, I want you to think about this specifically for you. CG: Key Question Slide How can you make a difference right now? Think about the ways that you can set an example for others... in your family, in your neighborhood, in your school. How can you use your words, the way you love others, and the way you live your life to point others to Jesus? When you get to small group, you ll talk more about this, but before you head out. Let s pray and thank God for choosing us to help Him make a difference in the world. Communicator leads group in a prayer related to what they just heard then dismisses them to small group. CG: Small Group Slide CG: Full Video (If Needed) 6

Dare You to Move Bottom Line: God made me to make a difference. Key Question: How can you make a difference right now? Memory Verse: "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:14, NIV Life App: Individuality Discovering who you are meant to be Groups: Creating a Safe Place to Connect (Small Groups, 15 minutes) 9:00 & 11:30 Bible Story Extension What You Need: Bibles What You Do: Review the Bible Truth with the kids. Ask: o How would you describe Timothy? o What did Timothy do? Answers could include: he was young (1 Timothy 4:12), his mother was Jewish and a Christ follower, people liked Timothy (Acts 16:1-2), he was faithful in serving the Lord, like a son to Paul (1 Corinthians 4:17), served with Paul spreading the Gospel, he cared about others, desired to follow Christ (Philippians 2:20-22) o How do you think Timothy made a difference? If you have fewer than 10 kids in your small group, combine with another group for this activity. Instruct kids to count off as either a one or a two. Guide the ones to create a small circle and face out and the twos to create a second circle around them facing in. Say one of the questions below and let kids answer the question to the person standing in front of them. Feel free to use the questions more than once to give kids an opportunity to hear different responses and to add questions, especially if they tie in with your previous discussions. After kids have time to answer one of the questions you ask, call out a number. The outside circle should rotate according to number of spaces you called out. Call out several numbers to get the kids moving in between their discussions. For example, Move three spaces to the right, now move four spaces to the left, and finally move six spaces to the right and stop! You will need to give them time to complete each step so they don t fall all over themselves! Say another question for the kids to answer. Continue for several rounds. Sample questions: o What are two words to describe you? o How could you make a difference by asking the new kid at school to sit with you at lunch? o How could you make a difference by reading the Bible? o How could you make a difference by walking away from a fight? o How could you make a difference with your words? o How could you make a difference by reading to your younger brother? o Name one thing you enjoy doing and think of a way you could make a difference doing it. Wrap up the activity by reading Paul s encouragement to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:12. 7

10:15 Discussion Questions What You Need: No supplies needed What You Do: Ask: What are obstacles that keep kids from believing they can make a difference right now? What are ways to overcome these obstacles? If you struggle with knowing what your gifts or talents are, what can you do? Who can you ask to help you discover the gifts God gave you? Paul asks Timothy to set an example. How can we set an example to make a difference right now? All Service Times Pray and Dismiss (5 minutes) What You Need: Mobile device, Bibles What You Do: Encourage kids to share example of kids who have made a difference. Perhaps it is someone they know who made a difference in their lives. Maybe it is someone they read about who made a difference in their community or school. (Optional: For deeper discussion, go to: and read about kids who are making a difference. Depending on your group, you may want to consider selecting a couple of examples of kids making a difference tailored to your group dynamics.) Read 1 Timothy 4:12. Close in prayer. What You Say: Dear God, You are amazing! And we are amazing because You loved us so much that You created us in Your image. We are Your masterpieces created to make a difference. Our age doesn t matter to You, You can use us to make a difference in the lives of people around us and in Your creation. God, open our eyes to discover the plans You have for us, plans to make a difference. And, God, we know that whether our good deeds make a difference in the life of the new kid in the lunchroom or make a difference to a group of people across the world, whatever it is, we know our good deeds honor You! Thank You for blessing us with gifts to serve You and to serve others. We pray this in Jesus name. Amen! 8
