Lai s Study Leave 黎嘉燐牧師為 Societas Liturgica 會員, 是專業研究崇拜的一個國際組織 他現出席這學會在魁北克市舉行的週年會議直至八月十五日, 並於八月十八日返回教會辦公 今天本堂荷蒙張展雄牧師蒞臨擔任中 英文主日崇拜講員, 深表謝忱 黎牧師休假期間同道如有教會事務, 請聯絡黃布愛玲行政幹事或堂會主席何洪標以作安排 如有特別關懷將由本堂義務支援牧師鄺國輝牧師處理 Rev. Dr. Alan Lai is a member of Societas Liturgica, an international professional organization to study worship. He attends the society s annual conference in Quebec until August 15, He will back to the office on August 18. Rev. Today, we are privileged to have Rev. Chris Cheung to be our guest preacher for our two worship services. 6 上主日講章簡述 耶穌的政治耶穌的政治 ( 馬可福音 5: 1 13) 耶穌一下船, 就有一個污鬼附著的人從墳墓裏出來迎著他 但是在以色列人的地圖當中, 加利利海對面沒有所講的地方 若拾起任何一本英語聖經, 這段聖經的底頁有這一句付註 : 有一些古卷說 Gadarenes; 另外一些古卷說 Gergesenes 歷史學家指出 Gerasa 這個地區猶太人在耶穌出生之前發起暴動, 希望趕走羅馬軍隊 結果被羅馬軍隊移為平地, 在人民的心中留下悲慘的傷痕 無論你拾起任何一本英語聖經, 污鬼說他的名字是 Legion Legion 是部署在不同城市的羅馬部隊 每一部有 2,068 羅馬士兵駐守 馬可記載耶穌容許這污鬼去到豬群的身上, 闖下山崖淹死了 豬的數目約有 2000 這就是羅馬部署在城外軍隊的數目 若果你是在第 1 世紀的猶太人平民百姓, 你不會擔心這個故事是否真實, 是否真的有 2000 隻豬衝落山崖 你不會問為何耶穌要破壞他人的家產 你反而內心發出微笑, 非常痛快 馬可不用多講, 第 1 世紀的猶太人, 個個都明白 這故事是否照字面所說, 耶穌醫治一位被鬼附的朋友, 我們今天並不知道 但我們知道的是耶穌在意識上插了羅馬軍隊一刀, 顯示了他的政治觀點, 他願意站在受苦的人民當中 我們讀聖經, 不要祇用個人屬靈的層面去看, 祗看見我們個人罪惡的問題, 也要用社會整體罪惡的層面 我們因著承繼華人文化著重個人品德操守, 不容易讓我們看見這一方面的真理 透過嚴謹地研讀聖經, 我們知道上帝所關心的不單是個人的問題, 也涉及政治及制度的問題 以賽亞書第 55 章這樣說 : 你們一切乾渴的都當就近水來 ; 沒有銀錢的也可以來 你們都來, 買了吃 ; 不用銀錢, 不用價值, 也來買酒和奶 以賽亞講得真精彩, 又覺得他有點荒謬 我不知道這單是以賽亞的問題或是上帝也是這般 沒有錢如何可以買呢? 原來上帝有另外一個政治看法, 有另外一個經濟策略 就是銀行存款多少沒有最後決定人能否有美好的食物, 有否乾淨的水飲, 能否享受上帝創造的各樣美物 上帝反轉我們的世界觀 你與我一定要看出上帝對一個不公平的制度所發出的抗議, 漠視窮人的社會政策的挑戰 祂教我們要留心上帝的政治 9 LAST SUNDAY S SERMON SUMMARY Politics of Jesus (Mark 5: 1 13) Jesus got out of the boat, and a man possessed by an impure spirit came to greet him. But according to the map of ancient Israel, there was no place called Gerasenes on the other side of Sea Galilee. At the bottom of the Bible is this footnote: Some manuscripts refer to it as Gadarenes, other manuscripts Gergesenes. Historians point out the area called Gerasa, and before Jesus was born, Jews tried revolting to overthrow the Romans. They weren t successful and the land was laid to waste by the army. It left a painful memory to many people. The impure spirit said his name was Legion. Legion is a unit of 2,068 Roman soldiers stationed near any major city. Mark said the impure spirit went to the pigs, about 2000 were drowned. That was about the number of Roman soldiers. If you were a Jew in the 1 st century, you wouldn t be worried whether the story had literally happened. Was it true that 2000 pigs drowned? You wouldn't ask why Jesus damaged other people s assets. Instead, you would be smiling, very happy! Mark didn t need to say more, every Jew in the 1 st century knew what it meant. Was it true, as printed literally, that Jesus healed a demon-possessed man? We don t know today. But we know that Jesus had made a hypothetical blow to the Roman army, and showed his political views. It shows he was willing to stand among the people who were suffering. When we read the Bible, don t just read it through personal point of view, seeing only teachings on personal sins. We also need to read it through the lenses of social sins. Since we inherit Chinese Confucius culture that emphasizes personal character and virtues, it is not easy for us to see this side of the truth. Through seriously reading the Bible, we learn that God cares not only for our personal ethics, God also cares about politics and systems. Isaiah 55 says, Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk, without money and without price. Isaiah words are exciting, at the same time, ridiculous. I don t know it is only Isaiah, or God behaves the same way. For someone has no money, how to buy? It is because God has a different political view, a different economic policy. That is our bank account is not the final determining factor whether someone can have good food, clean water, and enjoy all of God s creation. God turns our worldview upside down. You and I must see that God is making a protest against our unjust systems, and challenges our policies that neglect the poor. God teaches us to pay attention to God s politics. 10
