1 1 Christ Had To Die And Rise Three Days Later Jesus begins to teach His passion: Mark 8:31 And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected and be killed, and after three days rise again. Satan is beat by death and resurrection: Mark 9:26b-27 He is dead! But Jesus took him by the hand and raised him; and he got up. 2 Mark 9:30-31 From there they went out and began to go through Galilee, and He did not want anyone to know about it. For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, The Son of Man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later. 3

2 Mark 9:10 They seized upon that statement, discussing with one another what rising from the dead meant. Mark 9:32 But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him. Mark 9:34 But they kept silent, for on the way they had discussed with one another which of them was the greatest God was in control of Jesus death on the cross, and the entire Trinity is responsible for our salvation. 2. Jesus fulfills the Old Testament expectation of God s anointed being raised on the third day. 3. 3 God the Father delivered Him over: Romans 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? The Son delivered Himself over: Ephesians 5:2 walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. 7 The Holy Spirit enables us to believe: 1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, Jesus is accursed ; and no one can say, Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit. All Glory belongs to God! Isaiah 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD, And there is no savior besides Me. 8 Mark 9:31b when He has been killed, He will rise three days later. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures 9

One 1 Corinthians 15:20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. 12

5 The Prophet who would be raised for a sign: Matthew 12:39-40 But He answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet; for just as JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF THE SEA MONSTER, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 13 Mark 9:32 But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him. James 1:5-6 NET But if anyone is deficient in wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without reprimand, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed around by the wind. 14
