2 Why we re celebrating: The battle for the lives of the unborn is often a discouraging and thankless one, but two recent Gallop polls have given us reason to rejoice. For the first time in years, more people identified themselves as pro-life than pro-choice. We celebrate because the tide is turning: The May 7-10, 2009, Gallup survey found a significantly higher percentage of Americans identifying themselves as pro-life than pro-choice, 51% vs. 42%. The current poll... finds a nearly even split between the two sentiments. On a long-term basis, both 2009 measures... indicate a modest shift toward the pro-life position. 1 Get Involved: Pregnancy resource centers across the country see small victories everyday: an abortion minded woman falls in love with her baby through ultrasound imaging, a scared teen gets the tools and support she needs to tell her parents she s pregnant, a boyfriend brings his pregnant girlfriend in for counseling and both accept the hope of Christ. Add to these moments the knowledge that we re gaining ground nationwide and we have cause to rejoice. We are changing the face of the pro-life movement to look more and more like Christ everyday. 1. 8 Our society has reduced the life of an unborn child to a choice. Carrie Gordon Earll, Issue Analysis Senior Director for Focus on the Family, says, Ironically, the word choice is closely identified with abortion, yet many women report that a perceived absence of choice pushed them toward abortion...
