4 Purpose The Sunday School teacher is an educator who is concerned for the salvation and maturation of students in their charge.

6 Relationships: The Sunday School teacher is under the supervision and is responsible to the Sunday School Superintendent; and, has a cooperative relationship with other teachers in the Sunday School. The Sunday School teacher is a guide, facilitator, spiritual counselor, and example for students.

But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 8 Personal Responsibilities: 1. Maintain Spiritual Life Attend regular church services including worship, Bible study, prayer, special events, etc. Conduct Private devotional life (This is in addition to Bible study and prayer meetings). 2. Continue Self-Improvement Keep informed of current ideas and information about Sunday School through systematic reading, studying, attending Sunday School events. Attend seminars, conventions, and workshops (local, regional, statewide, national, training events. Evaluate one s teaching periodically and find ways to improve its effectiveness. Conduct Private devotional life (This is in addition to Bible study and prayer meetings)

10 Job Responsibilities in the Classroom: Conduct an engaging learning session appropriate to the needs and understanding of your students. Involve the student in the biblical truths to be learned. Provide opportunity for each student understanding salvation and their subsequent maturation in Christ. Arrive a minimum of minutes before the announced starting time for Sunday school to arrange classroom and greet pupils. If your Sunday School has an opening assembly, you should be in attendance. Complete attendance and personal data records as specified in your church. Be regular in attendance.

11 Job Responsibilities Outside the Classroom: Prepare each lesson in a thorough manner. Bathe it in PRAYER! NO SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIALS! Plan social activities for your class. Develop a thorough understanding of the age level you teach. Study the appropriate age-level manual and handbooks. Pray earnestly for each pupil. Build a list of prospects for your class. Attend staff meetings. Notify the proper person well in advance of anticipated absences.

12 Pupil Follow-up: Become personally acquainted with each pupil, knowing such things as his name, spiritual experience, needs, family relationships, school progress, and extracurricular activities. Visit each home at least annually. Get to know the parents. Observe pupil activities at school, home, work, etc. Contact absentee faithfully. Build rapport with the parents and/or other family members.
