TIME OF SINGING I Love You Lord I love You, Lord and I lift my voice to worship You oh my soul, rejoice! Take joy, my King in what You hear. Let me be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear. Love You So Much Hear these praises from a grateful heart. Each time I think of You the praises start. Love You so much Jesus, love You so much. Lord I love You my soul sings. In Your presence carried on Your wings. Love You so much Jesus, love You so much. Chorus: How my soul longs for You, longs to worship You forever, In Your power and majesty, lift my hands lift my heart, lift my voice, Towards the heavens, for You are my sun and shield. Are you awake?! Well, we are standing here aren t we? Yes you are, but are you awake? It s Easter, you know! Are you feeling a little exposed or naked in this questioning? It feels a bit rude to be asked such things first thing in the morning, for we are only doing our best So, are you awake?! It took us commitment and preparation to get here today. Is there something we are missing?

MESSAGE Rude Awakening Penny Meschke Key Verses: Just after daybreak, Jesus stood on the beach; but the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, Children, you have no fish, have you? They answered him, No. He said to them, Cast the net to the right side of the boat, and you will find some. So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in because there were so many fish. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. SHARING THE BREAD AND CUP Jesus invites everyone to his table, so, you are welcome to come, receive a piece of bread from a server, dip it in the cup and eat (intinction is a churchy word for this). As you come, if you wish to make an offering, the plates are on the tables at the front for you to do so. You may also use one of the yellow prayer cards in the hymnal rack if you have a prayer request or joy. Those cards too may be placed in the offering plates. Relax. This is meant to be communion with one another in the spirit of Christ. Come! Commune! Enjoy! *CLOSING PRAYER Echoes Calling in a cup of Hope Pulsing beats, of His kick Echo in each wheel turn. 7 Spirit of Hope News Guests Thank you for joining us in worship today. Please join us after worship for coffee and fellowship! First Service in the Chapel We have an 8:30 a.m. service in the chapel, which consists of a hymn, prayer, scripture, sermon and communion, and is shorter than our Worship service at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome to come join any or every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Women s Book Club. Join us on tonight, at 6:30 p.m. in the lower lobby to discuss Americanah, by Chimamanda Nogzi Adichie. Book Study. The book study group has begun a new book, "Convictions, How I Learned What Matters Most" by Marcus J. Borg. Borg was a contemporary New Testament scholar who was especially skillful at writing about theology in understandable and concise prose. The book was his last (he died last year) and fittingly summarizes his faith journey and his theology. Please join the group for good discussion and fellowship. We meet on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby (not on April 4th as most of the group works at Simpson). Sanctuary Choir will rehearse in the sanctuary on Wednesday, April 13 at 7:00 p.m. Loaves and Fishes - Thursday, April 14. We need volunteers for 2 shifts, which are: 3 to 5:00 p.m. for setup and food prep, and from 5 to 7:00 p.m. to help serve and cleanup, at Brunswick United Methodist Church on 42nd Avenue in Crystal. For more information or to sign up, see the bulletin board in the upper lobby or volunteers can call Linda at with any questions. Second Harvest meets on Friday, April 15, at 9:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall. Creative Spirits/Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet on Saturday, April 16 at 9:30 a.m. in the lower lobby. April s All Church Meal on Sunday, April 17, after worship, we will have an all church meal. Please join us! We are serving pancakes, a fruit, sausage, orange juice and cinnamon rolls. Contact Claire at , if you could help with prep, serve and clean up or tables. Thank You! Nursery Update: We are looking to add a second person to the nursery. This is a part-time paid position and job-share with Colette, the person needs to be 18 years or older. We are also developing a volunteer youth program to assist in the nursery on Sundays, so that we can have double coverage, if needed. We encourage you to be a volunteer. If you have an interest in any of these positions, please contact Jody Grande or SPR@spiritofhopeumc.org. Home Stretch - Soon all of those boxes and bags that you have filled for the flea market can get moved out of the basement or garage, but you still have time to find one more bagful. Wait to bring smaller items until Sunday, May 1. DO NOT bring furniture or other large items until Sunday, May 15. Thanks! Dates: May Ministry Trust Fund Makes Grants - The Board of the SOH Ministry Trust Fund recently approved two grant requests: DAYS FOR GIRLS-$500. The mission of Days for Girls is to provide girls and women in developing countries with sustainable feminine hygiene kits as a part of a health education program. Several members of the congregation are volunteers who help sew, prepare, and assemble the kits for the New Hope Chapter. These kits help girls "regain" days in their lives for school and work, when otherwise they may have been shunned or isolated during their menstrual periods. If you wish to volunteer, please contact Ann Rest. GOLDEN VALLEY PRIDE FESTIVAL-$500. The inaugural Golden Valley Pride Festival will be held on June 12 at Meadowbrook Park. The grant will help pay the expenses for the event which is not funded by the city. SOH will have a presence at the festival as an outreach event. Our Community PRISM - Our goal was 5000 pounds. We produced over 10,000 pounds! We doubled our goal! PRISM thanks you for your generosity! PRISM is our local food shelf. You can help in two ways. You can bring in some of the items which are most needed: baby formula/food, beef stew, boxed potatoes, canned chicken/tuna, canned fruit, cereal, cleaning products, condiments, cooking oil, deodorant, dish soap, jam/jelly, juice, laundry detergent, lotion, napkins, pads/tampons, pancake mix/syrup, paper towels, pork & beans/baked, ramen noodles, salad dressing, shampoo/ conditioner, toilet paper, toothbrushes/ toothpaste. You may also make a donation to PRISM. Be sure to clearly mark PRISM on your offering envelope or on the memo line of your check. If you would like a PRISM envelope, see an usher or get one from the Kiosk. Minnetonka Choral Society - Just Plain Folk A choral celebration of folk music from around the world! This afternoon at 3:00 p.m., Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 301 County Road 19, Excelsior, MN Ticket information: $18 for adults - $10 for students (17 and younger), group discounts are available. Buy tickets at the door. Every region of the world abounds in music that seems to grow from its soil. We'll explore the wonderful differences, and astonishing similarities, of folk music from throughout the globe. This is music created at home to lift spirits and help life go better. That's what we hope to do for everyone who sings and hears it. The Fantasticks - Jerry Rubino invites you to see/hear a show that he is music directing and playing with Nautilus Music Theater. The Fantasticks runs today through Tuesday April 19, at the Nautilus studio in Lowertown St. Paul. This is full of GREAT music and the singer/actors are intentionally cast against type! The Fathers are being played by the Baldwin sisters and the "young couple" is played by an older couple in their 60's: Gary Briggle and Wendy Lehr. For more information see:
