4 Sympathy: It is with deep sadness that we continue to share the loss of our beloved Ruth Elkas Atto. We send our condolences to her husband Jim and siblings Emsey (Gay), Gladys, Sam (Marlene), Myrna (Jeff) and Steve (Françoise) and their children and grandchildren. Her funeral, co-celebrated by the Rev. Dr. Samuel V. Dansokho and the Rev. Martyn Sadler, took place here last Thursday and, as nephew Stephan said, Ruth would have been delighted with the full church and choir loft! Our organist/choir director, Leslie Young, conducted the augmented choir and sang a solo. Words of remembrance were delivered by Royce Gale and Vivienne Galanis. Ruth was baptized at Plymouth-Trinity 80 years ago and sang in the choir for 74 years. She touched the lives of all of us here as she did in the many other areas of her life, a life of putting her faith into action. We are grateful for the life and the work of Ruth and we will remember her. The Quebec-Sherbrooke Presbytery meeting was held in Georgeville on Thursday and that the Montreal-Ottawa Conference held its General Assembly Saturday. A Christian meditation group is meeting in the chapel on Thursdays, 11 AM to 12 noon. For more information, contact Carol Smith ( or carolepowers@hotmail.com). Outreach Projects We stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in Fort McMurray. Our heartfelt prayers go to those who have lost their homes in the fire. The United Church of Canada is accepting donations to support the response of our Alberta and Northwest Conference to this disaster. You can donate through the United Church online or by making out a cheque to Plymouth-Trinity and marking it Emergency Response - Fort McMurray. Thanks to the generosity of congregations, as of May 24, 2016, the United Church appeal for Fort McMurray has received over $66,000 for emergency relief. In the Community Janet McBurney will be participating in her 13 th Relay For Life to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society on June 17 th. It is a lifeaffirming, community experience and a commitment to save more lives. Tax receipts are available upon request for donations of $10 or more. Luminaires (candles) are available for $5 and are personalized in honour of those battling cancer or in memory of those who lost the fight.
