Rick Elsey, Treasurer: Suzanne Gagneur Attention --- Present Bibles - With those words, well over 60 young people from our MBA churches began the Associational Bible Drill this past week at Pleasant Heights. Technically, it s a competition but in reality, it was a chance to showcase and celebrate all that they had done over the past several months in studying and memorizing God s Word. Let me tell you, they did well! (Actually, put us adults to shame ) In a world where Biblically illiteracy is on the rise, it truly is refreshing and inspires hope that these young people are hiding the truth in their hearts. Did you know that a child who begins in the 4 th grade participating in Bible Drill can learn well over 300 verses before they graduate high school? There are many levels. 4 th, 5 th, and 6 th graders can participate in Children s Bible Drill 7 th, 8 th, and 9 th graders can participate in Youth Bible Drill 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th graders actually have 3 options: High School Bible Drill (similar format to Children and Youth) Extreme Bible Challenge (a game show type competition) Speakers Tournament (where individual students study, prepare, and recite) Here s some food for thought. Is there a better use of our time than trying to instill a love of God s Word into the hearts of our young people? In fact, it requires a minimal amount of leadership and almost no funding. Now, that s a good deal! Would you prayerfully consider instituting Bible Drill in your church next year? We have some wonderful leader s right here in the Maury Association who would be glad to help you get started. Contact the MBA office for more details. FYI A good chance to observe them in action is the State Regional Bible Drill which will be held at FBC Columbia (First Family) on Saturday, April 28 beginning at 10 am. Blessings, Dale

6 BIBLE DRILL The State Bible Drill for children will be held on Saturday, April 28th at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church, Columbia. The Regional Drills for Youth, High School and Speakers Tournament will also be held on Saturday, April 27th at First Baptist Church, Columbia beginning at 12:00. Gaits to Heaven & Icy Wilson, a Lakota Christian teacher, are cosponsoring a summer program on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
