In this way, He can live, as Risen Lord, in our midst and attract all people to the Father. As part of the Church, we want to be a Home and School of Communion where, through the celebration and living out the Sacraments, and various ministries, each member can live in unity as a child of God, building up the Kingdom of God until Jesus will come again in glory.

2 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not subject to the law. (Gal 5:18) Dear parishioners and friends, Last week, the Word of God invited us to make a fundamental choice and to make sure our values, and therefore our priorities, reflect this choice. One thing is really at the core of our life: God. It is He whom we choose as Christians. Not His things, nor the practices of our faith; not even ideologies and philosophies. We are Christians because we have chosen God above all other things. This choice allows us to prioritize all other relationships so that we can live them, appreciate them, and nurture them appropriately. As disciples of Jesus, we take another step this week and, led by Him, we put our trust in His Word. And this week we are asked to face something that is quite strong in our human nature: the desire to be always first, the drive to go ahead of the other. While this desire in itself may be good, it can, if we don t keep an eye on it, transform itself into a monster: we can feel justified in putting down the competitor, to ridicule the one who is different, and to mock those who disagree with us. Against this possibly destructive tendency of ours, Jesus proposes another view of life: that of service, a life that is propelled towards others in imitation of the life of Jesus. The Christian life is a reflection of the life of the Trinity on earth, as members of the Body of Christ. The Sacraments give us the strength to make this reality possible. The gospel makes all this all very clear to us. The request of the sons of Zebedee (v 37) to sit on the throne with Jesus is a small example of a race for the first place. And the outrage of the other apostles (v. 41) shows us that they too had the same desire, now endangered by the daring of the two brothers. Jesus' intervention specifies the logic that must guide us, especially those in positions of responsibility. Jesus tells us that "whoever wants to become great will be your servant" (v 43) and who "wants to be the first, will be a slave to all" (v 44). For a disciple of Jesus the situation is completely reversed, the evaluative criterion is totally different: we place ourselves before others as those who are ready to help them, to support them, to inspire them to be who they are meant to be: a wholesome human being. We cannot do that if we have an attitude of domination or aggression. We tend to believe that God loves the sinner but hates the sin. Well, let s make sure that the sinner feels God s love through our attitude and our love first before addressing the sin. No matter what nor where, no matter who is in front of us, none of us has the license to put any one down, to mock, to offend, etc. Not if we bear the name of Christ. Although these attitudes are quite accepted by our culture nowadays, they are totally incompatible with the Gospel and our Christian lifestyle. We behave in this way because as members of the Body of Christ, we live as He lived: and He "did not come to be served, but to serve and give his own life. In doing so, Jesus has revealed to us our true self: we are a gift to the other as the other is to us. Only Love is Credible; and since this is the way we have been loved by God, this must be the way we love Him back by loving each other and all the people we encounter in the same way. This is how we, Christians of today, can enrich this culture with the lifegiving-and-transforming power of the presence of Jesus in our midst. This is how we can be truly His Body: the Church. All are welcome to attend if they are interested in helping with bazaar! PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS THAT OUR PARISH BAZAAR WILL BE HELD NOVEMBER 16 & 17 FROM 10AM TO 7PM!

In addition to free flu shots, there will be Carotid Screen, Blood Pressure Checks, Bone Density, Dermascan and much more! All are welcome and bring a friend!

As you may know, the Bazaar is November 16th & 17th and we will be accepting home made sweets the morning of Thursday, November 15, Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17th.

Two history books, Rejoicing in the Lord, and Family of Faith have been published to help commemorate the 150 th anniversary of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington. Rejoicing in the Lord is a hard-cover, 336-page, fullcolor, glossy 10 inch by 10 inch book that features histories and photographs of all Catholic churches in Delaware and Maryland s Eastern Shore, plus biographies of all nine Wilmington bishops, with important ministries and events highlighted. Family of Faith is a 35-page, color diocesan history done in the comic book or graphic novel style that would appeal to middle schoolers and teens. These books are available through our parish office. The hard cover Rejoicing in the Lord is $30. and the Family of Faith is $12.00 Mark your calendars for our Next Movie Night on Thursday, November 8th at 6pm. 5 TWENTY NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Last weekend was really awesome!! I am so happy to be back into the flow of religious Education!! We have such an awesome parish! Religious education families and our teens are all the best! Sunday morning brought the 2 nd Annual living rosary! October is the month of the Holy Rosary and to see and hear the rosary recited by multiple generations and to give our children an experience that they will remember forever! I get the honor of going person to person with the microphone listening to the voices reciting the prayers I love so much! Men, women, teens and children! We had as young as kindergarteners up to several of our senior parishioners!! Truly moving if you didn t make it this year plan to join us for the 3 rd Annual in October of 2019! We also had the first T. O.P. Meeting of the year. Top is the youth group of our parish! These kids are awesome. We are heavy into planning all of our activities. We have the Fall Fest, trunk or treat, Bonfire and Christmas bazaar to start with!! I want to present our board for : Co Presidents Patrick Fohner and Kim Kaufman, Vice President Tyler Udzielak, Recording Secretary Jake Gillespie, Treasury Agents Hannah Zajdel and Kayla Brady, Recording treasurer Oliver King, Public Relations Miah Schwind and Faith Haddad and Managing Officers Tristan Schwind and Christian Haddad. We have three Senior Mentors : Makayla Zajdel, Bill King and Paul Haddad. And two Adult advisors: Carrie Brunson. We have an exciting year planned. Much of what we achieve is greatly helped by the support and generosity of the Parish, for which we are completely grateful!! We are preparing for the trunk or treat Bonfire fun fest and Christmas Bazaar so any donations you can help with is great: Trunk or treat ~ Adults to participate and decorate their cars or trucks! Record, Principal On Friday, October 12 th (in spite of rain and wind) our school community gathered in song and prayer to honor our Blessed Mother, Mary, as we observe the month of the Rosary. As requested by our Holy Father, Pope Francis, we prayed for our Church. We prayed for the guidance of the Holy Spirit for all those in leadership positions in our Church. Our students prayed to Mary to intercede for our Church with her son, Jesus. Thank you to all who attended and supported the Dance-a-thon and Fall Festival. Many thanks to our HSA who planned and coordinated the event. A good time was had by all! SAVE THE DATE! MARK YOUR CALENDAR! The world famous Most Blessed Sacrament Fashion Show is returning! The date of this fabulous event will be Wednesday, December 5 th. Details and ticket information will be forthcoming. Please plan to join us for this evening of fashion, fun and prizes. Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School is currently accepting applications for enrollment for the academic year. We offer Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4 programs with a full or half day option. We also have availability in K through 8th grades. MBS is a STREAM school that emphasizes the intellectual, spiritual, and physical development of every child. We offer before and after-care as well as bus service for our Delaware residents.
