Time Line & Activities divides the Bible into three stages of God s plan for our salvation and into eight eras of Bible history. Time Line & Activities helps kids examine the people and events of the eight eras of Bible history. Time Line & Activities also helps kids learn the promises God kept during each of the eight eras of Bible history. You can use Time Line & Activities as a supplement to the HeartShaper Curriculum for Early Elementary, Middle Elementary, and PreTeen kids. as a supplement to other curriculums for elementary kids. to help you lead classes for kids on exploring God s Word. You can also use Bible Tools for Kids: Maps & Charts and Bible Tools for Kids: Dictionary & Bible Skills Activities. Teacher Notes are provided for each session. These notes include ideas for activities that correlate with the Bible Chronology Handouts. Teacher Notes can be adapted to fit your available time. 10 1 God Planned for Everybody to Be Saved God wants everyone to be saved. God worked a plan in order to bring salvation to us. The Bible tells us about God s plan. The Bible is one book, one history, one story. It tells the history of how God brought salvation to us. Every book, event, person, and promise in the Bible had a part in God s plan for our salvation. When we understand how the books, events, people, and promises of the Bible carried out God s plan for our salvation, then we understand how much God wants us to be saved. God s plan for our salvation happened in three stages. The Bible tells us about all three stages. 1. God prepared for salvation through Jesus. 2. God sent salvation through Jesus. 3. God offers salvation through Jesus. Every Bible book, event, person, and promise helped bring salvation to us during one of these three stages. The Old Testament tells how God prepared for salvation through Jesus. God worked through one nation to prepare for salvation through Jesus. The story of the people of this nation and how God prepared them is told in the Old Testament. The story of this nation can be divided into six eras of Bible history. 1. Creation & Fall 2. Patriarchs 3. Exodus & Conquest 4. Judges 5. Kings & Prophets 6. Exile & Return Knowing that God worked a plan for our salvation helps us understand how much God wants us to be saved. 11 God Planned for Everybody to Be Saved continued The New Testament tells how God sent salvation through Jesus. When God s preparation work was complete, He was ready to send salvation. He was ready to send Jesus. Jesus came to earth. He died for our sins, and He rose from the dead. Jesus was God s instrument of salvation. The story of Jesus life is the seventh era of Bible history. 7. Jesus Life The New Testament also tells about God s offer of salvation through Jesus. After Jesus returned to Heaven, He established His church. The church s job is to tell the world about God s offer of salvation through Jesus. The story of the early church is the eighth era of Bible history. 8. Early Church This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
