12 Think-Pair-Share! Students think to themselves on a topic provided by the teacher. Then, they then pair up with another student to discuss it. Finally, they share their thoughts with the class. Why? Generating and revising hypotheses, inductive reasoning, deductive reasoning, and application. Participation, involvement. Not just what we do, but... Why do we do it? Knowledge & Purpose (Perhaps at our heart we should all be 3 year olds: Why? Why? WHY?) How do you help facilitate connections? 1. Learning about our lives 2. Learning about our faith 3. 22 Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Montessori, in an Atrium Self-directed learning through play/exploration/repetition/reflection Starts with Good Shepherd story & builds from there--emphasizing God cares for us, knows us, watches over us, welcomes us back...tactile components! *Liturgy of the Word with Children* Age-appropriate Liturgy of the Word Just before the Liturgy of the Word begins for the assembly, these children are invited to go with the weekly leaders from the church to a chapel-like location apart from the larger congregation. During this special time, the leaders guide the children through prayers, songs and readings that are simplified for children. The children learn about the same Scripture readings as the rest of the assembly. They are taught a simplified main message of the readings and are encouraged to share that message with their parents after Mass. 22
