2 A Note from the Pastor... Pastor Rob The mornings have a chill to them. The sunsets are coming earlier and earlier. The trees leaves are changing color, and some are beginning to fall. The season is definitely changing! These and other things in nature are all signaling that Fall has arrived. Thus, telling us to harvest the last of the crops, fertilize the lawn, put to bed one s flower or vegetable gardens, clean gutters and do or finish other maintenance jobs. The fall signals the time for nature and us get ready for the upcoming winter months. The fall season can be seen as this period of time to finish summer activities and to prepare for the winter season the now and yet to come. We find in Scripture those signals which tell us of the present and yet to come. Our relationship with God through Christ Jesus demonstrates the now and yet to come. We are sons and daughters of God, God s Kingdom people, receiving new life, having eternal life. And while all of those (and more) are true (found in God s Word, promises and actions), we have yet to fully experience them. The Apostle Paul would say, we partially see or have partly experienced what is to come. In other words, with each of these told and given to all believer of Christ, we have the present reality and truth in our lives now and await the yet to come (the fullness of all in each of us). This is also the case with the Apostle Paul s call to all believers into the season of the urgent. The present age is a time of urgency in sharing the Gospel, living the Christian faith with commitment and consistency, demonstrating in THIS world but NOT of it (we belong to another) and being intentional about serving in Christ s name. Thus, the present season signals the change that is coming. The present is this period of time that demonstrates the Gospel of Jesus empowered and at work. The present season speaks of the truth of the time to come. And that new season, the time yet to come is that in which Jesus returns and all who are his followers know fully the fullness of Jesus in them and God s total completion of this age. One final thought about our fall season, it is also a season of preparation. We do things in preparation for the spring new growing season, and the summer. This fall season helps to remind us of not only the winter coming but also the spring and summer that awaits. As Christians, the present age helps us to prepare and serves as a reminder that something new waits for all of Christ s followers and God s people. Happy Fall Season! Peace, Pastor Rob
