2 OPENING PRAYER Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves, when our dreams have come true because we have dreamed too little, when we arrive safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we possess, we have lost our thirst for the waters of life; having fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity; and in our efforts to build a new earth, we have allowed our vision of the new heaven to dim. 2

4 TRANSITION PERIOD OVERVIEW On average, the transition process for calling a new Rector is a months. TRANSITION PERIOD OVERVIEW ü Rector Retires ü Interim Rector called 3. Search Committee is selected 4. Search Committee identifies, evaluates, recommends rector candidates 5. Vestry evaluates final candidates and elects a rector 6. New Rector called 7. Celebration of new Rector 4

5 SEARCH COMMITTEE SELECTION Vestry appoints the Search Committee by following the process outlined by Diocese. Committee size: 7-10 people (including 1-2 vestry members) Significant commitment Process for serious discernment Interim Rector and Diocese Transition Minister will work with the Search Committee SEARCH COMMITTEE PURPOSE q Conducts congregational self-study (Who are we?) Leads the parish in discerning where God is calling us (Where are we going?) Conducts initial identification and evaluation of candidates and recommends finalists to Vestry (Who should lead us there?) 5

6 SEARCH COMMITTEE DUTIES Parish self-assessment Write parish and OTM profiles Discern new rector profile Create and implement application process Interview/Evaluate candidates Present final candidates to the Vestry SEARCH COMMITTEE CANDIDATES Member in good standing with pledge Regular attendance at worship and involvement in ministry Able to commit the necessary time Team player Strong prayer/spiritual life Good listening and communications skills 6

7 APPLICATION PROCESS A completed application does not ensure automatic selection Decisions are not personal but based on assembling the most effective search team All members of the parish will have a voice in the discernment process APPLICATION PROCESS Pick up a Search Committee Application here, in the parish office, or on the parish website (ResurrectionPH.org) Submit answers to the Questionnaire on a separate document and submit to maryphilwolf@comcast.net or deliver to the parish office; OR Submit answers via online form by following the link: Deadline for submissions is June 4 7
