2 Each and every time you sit down to read God s Word, make sure you go to Him and ask Him to read His words to you. Ask Him to explain what He is saying to you. Ask Him to grant you knowledge. Ask Him to open your eyes to behold wonderful things from His Word. And then believe what you hear! Read through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John as many times as possible before studying Luke. 1 st time mark every reference to God with a red triangle 2 nd time mark every reference to Jesus with a red cross 3 rd time mark every reference to the Holy Spirit with a red cloud 4 th time mark every reference to king or kingdom with a purple crown 5 th time mark every geographical (place) reference by surrounding it with orange brackets 6 th time mark every reference to time by putting a blue box around it 7 th time mark every term of conclusion by putting a large pink capital T over it 8 th time mark every contrast by putting a pink slash between the two things contrasted 9 th time mark every comparison by putting a pink equal sign between the two things compared 10 th time - mark every reference to an Old Testament scripture (you will find them in small caps if there are any) by drawing a large green box around the entire passage that is quoted.
